This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Would totally love to know how you selected which partition you wanted the xbox 360 to see. I have been trying for a bit now but can't get the 360 to recognize a single partition and it ends up wiping the drive each time.
I haven't done this myself, but I'm guessing what he did was got it to use a portion of it first on the 360 (the first partition), then plugged it into the computer and renamed the folder. When you do a part of the drive, Xbox actually creates a folder and puts several 1GB files in it that is the Xbox's file system for that partition. If you rename that top level folder, the Xbox won't see it anymore, and would offer to let you create another partition on it, provided you had the free space. Then it's a matter of renaming the folder from Windows for whichever partition you wanted.

However, the downside is you'd have to keep meticulous track of what resided on each partition, because you can't see them from Windows, and changing which the Xbox saw wouldn't exactly be quick.

You can hide/unhide partitions on a PC. It basically comes down to making two partitions, hiding the 2nd one, and then formatting the first with the 360. Then going back to PC, hide/unhide both of them, and format the 2nd partition with the 360. You can rename partitions, so maybe naming them by genre or something would be easiest to keep track of.

I wrote a quick tutorial on how to do the whole process so if anyone with at least a 64GB drive wants to test it out, let me know. I wanna make sure someone else can get it to work before posting it for everyone.

So I finally got around to playing Strike Suit Zero last night.

What a load of crap. I could barely get past that tutorial level. Please tell me there is light at the end of the tunnel after that mission. Please.

Crimson Dragon after all the tweaks is a lot more fun then I remember. There's still that dreadful pay for jewels crap but everything else is good. Co-Op online was flawless and was happy to see you could play through the entire campaign. Definitely recommend that game, especially for free.

Clarification: You can earn jewels throughout the campaign and they aren't really needed for the most part, but once you finish the campaign you have to buy them with real money AFAIK as I wasn't able to get anymore jewels but I could be wrong. It's a very minor part of the entire game but It's still there.

I'm going to start a random rumor about Xbox and then treat it as a fact just because everyone today is all about that instant reaction as truth drama.
YOURS IS THE RUMOR THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS!

Thankfully this crap week of deals is almost over

Hopeing for good deals

I want dead space and the F.E.A.R games to go on sale

The only way I want another Rockstar sale is if it's this:

Red Dead AND Undead Nightmare - $5.00
LA Noire - $1.50
Max Payne 3 - $2.50
GTA 4 and DLC - $7.00
GTA 5 - $10.00
Midnight Club LA - FREE

What else am I missing?

Club Nintendo is like a leprechaun handing out pots of gold compared to Microsoft's lame loyalty program. Good thing Microsoft's game sales are generally better than Nintendo's.

You earn jewels by getting medals in the classic missions. Sometimes they are daily log in and challenge bonuses as well. All my dragons are max evolution, and I still have about 100 jewels left that I have no idea what to do with. I agree the game is better than it was at launch. The free addition of multiplayer and the extra free achievements are what made me go back to try to finish up the game in July. Four medals left and 2 multiplayer rounds of the final boss and I'm done.

All the impressions of Strike Suit Zero make me not want to bother trying it. Is anyone actually enjoying it?

The tutorial mission for SSZ is really boring (like most tutorials) and it appears that is what most impressions so far have been based on. There's a lot of free time to learn the controls, which can be boring if you already know them or learned them fast. I played the first few missions and I'm having fun with it. I recommend changing your camera to first person for when you aren't transformed into Strike Suit. 3rd person for when in Strike Suit mode.

I'll take Max Payne 3 at 5 again, just hope they don't start delisting Games on Demand anytime soon.

This! However according to this article it may not happen.

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/dec/12/ps4-and-xbox-one-so-why-arent-they-backwards-compatible

No worries. I have plenty of games in my backlog to finish before buying a current generation console anyways.
I know this is old, but I don't understand why people think adding backwards compatibility will lead any console to win the war. I don't even know why it is really demanded much either. I have a huge library of last gen games, so it is not that I don't see the appeal to having one box that can play it all.

But, when you are start to look at the X360 and PS3 and how poorly they did with emulating the previous generation, then it really changed my viewpoint on having BC. Why do I want my hardware to be designed to run two different consoles specs at once, like with the original PS3s. It caused hardware issues, or in MS case, software issues, that took up much too time from them to try to implement properly than it was worth. Or it drove the price up even more. The software emulation was also really shitty. It was worth playing it on the original XBox, rather than trying to get it to run on my 360.

Bottomline, if I am paying big bucks for a new system, I want it optimized to run the new hardware and games to the best of its ability. I would rather hook up an old system then to run my old games in subpar conditions and put extra stress on my shiny new toy.

^ I get a surprisingly large amount of people ask about trade in values of a 360 console on Ambassador Chat. Quite a few people think a used 360 is still worth $300-$400 to a retailer (or anybody).

I'd only want backwards compatibility if I would be able to stream and record clips. Otherwise I'm fine having 2 consoles.

I couldn't get past the tutorial either - it was slow, uninteresting, and it was hard adjusting to the controls (for me). I imagine it would have to get better at some point, but I deleted it before I earned any achievements and I'll just play something else instead.

Once it's less than a day, it will switch to hours - so if it says 1 day left, you have at least 24 hours.
I thought I had seen it in hours which is why I asked, but at 76% of the challenge I didn't want to just miss finishing it. Still going to try getting it done tonight but not sure if I want to do 125 miles of racing in Forza tonight.

Yet, we see dual releases of arcade games, and "definitive" versions of previous console games on the XBox One. If they truly wanted to make it happen, they could, at least to an extent.

I do get that we moved on to a new generation, and expecting backwards compatibility is a pipe dream at best. The hardware/software reason is not the real reason, though. It's more of the cost involved. Why spend the money putting out the ability to play a game from the last gen, when it doesn't generate new software sales? However, when they put out a rerelease, they should at least throw those of us who already own it a break on the price.

I think there's a lot of data that suggests that backwards compatibility is one of those features people always say they want during a console transition, and then never actually use. They're hesitant to upgrade hardware, but then once they do, they invariably want the new stuff rather than a way to keep playing their old games. So the manufacturers' challenge is to pay lip service to backwards compatibility in an effort to coax people into making the jump, while not actually spending a lot of resources on a feature no one will really use.

Anyone know how to redeem the content of season pass from Darksiders II?

It says download from in-game. But there is not marketplace access in game.  The game does not have a main menu.

On EA Access, this seems like a steal for a gamer like me. $30 a year for older but not old games is pretty great. Over the weekend, my son and I have put easily 20 hours into Fifa and Madden, and I played a bit of Battlefield too. These were games I had no intention of buying, but now wish I had. Very good EA, I'm looking forward to how this will evolve.

what is bleach about? may watch an episode tonight but dont really watch anime
bleach is pretty much a yu yu hakusho clone that had some good ideas going then went to shit after a few arcs. if you are watching the first couple of seasons it should be fine, but not really a show/manga worth investing time into.

Cut out 70%-80% of the show and it would be a must watch.

First season was ok, but I think season 2/3 is when the show really starts to get good. I made the mistake of watching on the fillers and got burned out about halfway (I think) through all the episodes. Some of the fillers aren't bad (not Naruto filler bad anyways), but still enough to make me not want to watch anymore. The games on Wii and DS are fun.

i want to use part account balance and part credit card. it is saying confirm purchase 9.99 plus tax after that prompt do i get to select account balance? this is on 360

The manga adaptation of Bleach is really good. Soul Society and Arrancar arcs are phenomenal, and the characters are diverse and well-written. The anime-only fillers are watchable, but VIZ and Tite Kubo (the mangaka) decided to stop production on the anime so they wouldn't have to ruin the series with even more filler while he wrote new material. Don't get me wrong; the fillers in Bleach are GREAT compared to that awful filler shit in Naruto--which is roughly 40% of the entire show--but they aren't as good as the rest of the show.

Regardless, you have to give VIZ and Kubo-san props for stopping the anime so the artist could make more of it instead of filling it with even more garbage. Just skip the filler arcs denoted in a Bleach wikia if you want to watch the series, and I guarantee you'll have a good time.

*raises hand*

Personally, I didn't care if the 360 had BC at the time it was released....I buy a new system to play new games with new graphics, but I did like that it offered BC "just in case" I wanted to play an older game like KOTOR or Ninja Gaiden. I think I may have played an original Xbox game twice (KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2), and that was within the first year of owning the 360. After that, I totally abandoned X-Box games.
