This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I think I must have played a different version of Resident Evil 6 than everyone else. Because I thought that game was awesome. Incredible visuals, great voice acting, tight gameplay, and yes the story was silly and over-the-top but in a fun way. I was totally hooked on it. Maybe it's because I've only played 5, 6, and Revelations and have no sentimental attachment to the earlier, non-TPS incarnations of the series.

As a story-heavy third person shooter in the vein of Gears of War, it was a total blast. I am so down for a Resident Evil 7 that continues the story of Chris, Jill, Leon, Ada, Helena, Jake, Sherry, et al. instead of the series reboot idea that's been kicked around.

Was excited to finally play Crimson Dragon and I promptly deleted it. Something about the targeting and dragon movement being independent of each other did not work with my brain.
man I'm really enjoying it, probably more than I should. It was a little weird a first but once I got the hang of it, it became a much better game. I did get hit with 3 achievements not unlocking even though they're at 100% completed (worth 150 GS). I can totally understand why people don't like it though, it's definitely a game that won't be everyone's cup of tea. If any CAGs need some help with the mp achievements just let me know, I'll be glad to help. I was sitting at 70 on the leaderboards last night, hope to at least crack 25 by this weekend.

Final fight offers very little replay value once you beat it.
I disagree. The replayability in a game like Final Fight comes from trying to beat it on one-credit, which is something I still haven't accomplished to this day. These days, I can make it to the final level, but that one is so long and tough that I always end up dying.

For pure fun factor, I also prefer Final Fight to either D&D game. The combat is just way more satisfying in Final Fight.

That said, both games are must-owns for fans of the beat-em-up genre.

Oh wow, I didn't realize Final Fight Double Impact was the original arcade game. I was under the impression that it was some kind of 3D reimagining or something. So in!!

Finally got an EA Access pass code. Now to trade BF4. Really digging this direction. I don't care to play last year's madden or fifa too considering I've never played fifa not have I played added since..Uhhh..2001?

It's the arcade version with drop-in co-op and online leaderboards.

The only thing it's missing is the option to turn on the SEGA CD soundtrack. The arcade soundtrack stinks, and the remixed one that's included is no good.

With my pickup of SF II my collection of Street Fighter is complete. It was a bit humbling that my 7 year old son kicked my ass in SF II 8 out 10 games last night.

Been searching for a thread to buy Nintendo and PSN monies but i couldn't find one. Is there a thread for any of these like the one for xbox ? If anyone would provide links i would really appreciate it.

I don't know about Nintendo but PSN credit rarely goes on sale. PlayStation Plus subscriptions go on sale semi-frequently, though. There's a deal going on this week at Target where you buy one card, you get a second for 25% off. Should be good for all of those digital currency cards.

Obviously, I'm just guessing here, but I have a sense this will be a free GwG eventually. They will never give Minecraft away for free; it sells too well. And this is the only other game of a similar genre. It has been on sale very recently. It's kind of grindy to max out which seems to fit some of the other GwG (Battleblock, Charlie Murder, Gotham, etc.) and will keep people on their Xboxes. Again, just a guess.
You're right. I'll hold off a bit longer. :)

They're sending them at random to dashboard beta users, it seems. I joined the beta a week or so ago and received an Access beta code last night.
I don't think it's "at random" but rather to those of us added to the dashboard beta since they sent out the first wave of codes.

I'm super tempted to dive back into Dead Rising but it seems to be one of those games that allows you to go so far without giving you a clue as to some of the essential actions/quests/items that you need to go further/beyond a point where you are stuck.

Is this how the whole game is?

That's what I loved about DR 3, that they'll let you know exactly what you need to do and where you have to go. I bought Dead Rising Off The Record yesterday and I'm hoping its like DR 3.

Idk i dont see Terraria being a GwG at all

its not on that level of popularity like minecraft but it still pretty high up there

and if they make money off a game why make it free

Even with it being on sale quite frequently as of late still dont see it as a GwG

Only game thats like that is Dark Souls -_- that game doesnt give you any direction at all

But i beaten both Dead Rising 1 and 2 and i would say its pretty straight forward

Other then Hidden Side Quests and i think a boss fight or 2 its pretty straight forward on tellin you where to go and how much time you got left

The most lost you might get is not remembering where a certain store may be but other then that its simple

Most you might need is to look up specific times on where hidden survivors are

I don't recall either Dead Rising being like that. Don't they both have an arrow telling you exactly where to go, and also giving prompts or cut scenes when you do the directions. The only thing to both Dead Risings is that the games are designed to be played many times so that you upgrade your character and are better equipped each time you go through it.

Random events do occur, but it's at times when there isn't much occurring in the game, like gaps between missions, where you should be roaming around anyway to kill time, and occasionally find survivors (both friendly and enemy).

Also, Dead Rising: Case West does not require you to specifically use guns. I saw someone post that a few pages back. If you're after the achievement of destroying all the cameras, then you'll need a gun, but they're abundant. The main focus is still on melee items and crafting new item combos to battle the undead. The game is on a much smaller scale than Dead Rising or 2 (though with more options than Case Zero). And it allows a partner to play, or an AI Frank West to follow you around if you play alone. The game is short, but fun, and the issue of leveling in the game is not nearly as great as the full retail games, as you only need 10 levels to get to the max level, and you'll probably hit that after your first time playing it fully.

If you played Case Zero, which you should have since it was free to Gold members last year, and enjoyed it, Case West is like that. Small, faster campaign, with the added option of playing with a friend (matchmaking exists for the game, but you'll rarely find players, and if you do be careful...not everyone plays as a team, and some people are just awful players at these games).

Just a heads up, the DLC for peggle 2 is also on sale for $1.99. Who knows how long it will stay at this price so act quickly! (can't wait for it to actually go on sale)

is it just me or is xbox rewards completely broken? saying i don't have gold, and the only points i've gotten so far are from the two surveys. i've bought at least $150 worth of digital games and got nothing for it. do they have a support page of some sort? maybe i'm blind but i don't see one.

edit: it has been about two months since my first purchase.

I've been a member of Live Rewards since it launched in 2010. I've easily spent close to $10,000 since then between disc-based games, arcade titles, DLC packs, season passes, and digital movies/TV shows.

My total take in Xbox so-called "rewards"? $26. And that INCLUDES the surveys and subscription renewals, (both of which they've now stopped doing rewards for now). That's about 0.25%. Even the WORST credit card rewards give back at least 1%.

So, yeah. Worst reward program ever, and I hope they scrap the whole thing, and put out more freebie games, and actually reward us Gold people more often.

I am pretty sure it is not giving me VIP status so I am not earning my 2% or whatever the highest tier is right now. It keeps saying earn achievements and become a VIP but I have over 100,000 gamerscore. Not sure when it happened because I used to get the rebate.

Did you let your Gold subscription lapse, or use a freebie card/code for Gold? I used the free "1 month of Gold" code that came with my Xbox One, and it didn't count that month for my VIP status, and it made me wait until I was back in paid gold status to turn it back on. It's all in their stupid fine print.

I've been a member of Live Rewards since it launched in 2010. I've easily spent close to $10,000 since then between disc-based games, arcade titles, DLC packs, season passes, and digital movies/TV shows.
 That's an average of $2k per year! I don't think I've spent that much total on games in my lifetime (since 2007...).

Yeah I have let it lapse and used some 2 week codes to fill in time between GwG games I wanted. I am sure that is it. Not that I am missing out on much. Thanks.

My total take in Xbox so-called "rewards"? $26. And that INCLUDES the surveys and subscription renewals, (both of which they've now stopped doing rewards for now). That's about 0.25%. Even the WORST credit card rewards give back at least 1%.
That's crazy because I've earned $45+ in rewards over the life of the program and I've spent nowhere near $10,000. Probably not even a tenth of that. I guess it all depends on what you're buying and whether it happens to be eligible for the various offers they've had. Also getting the highest possible rebate for 75,000 gamerscore is probably a big factor.

Yeah, there was quite a few times where the reward qualifications came up after I had already bought what qualified for it, (Dead Rising 3 season pass was bought, and reward for it went up 2 days after. That one kind of ticked me off), or I just didn't hit it at the right time. They didn't make the % back rewards until about half way through.
