XBL Subscription Card Redemption

Quick question for you guys - I just purchased an XBL 1 year subscription card, I also just paid $20 for a 3 month subscription from my recurring billing. My question is if I redeem the 1 year card today (I have about 11 weeks left on my cash paid subscription) - will the 1 year get tacked onto my current subscription or will I effectively lose my 10 weeks I already paid for (I can't imagine they'd do that, but I figured I'd ask).
