Just my two cents: I actually took the time to flash an old router so that I could use it as a bridge for my 360, set up two seperate subnets, and got it working that way. However, two seperate subnets kept me from streaming media from my PC to the 360, and I had to have a big ugly Linksys box sitting under my TV, so in the end I bought the Microsoft rip-off anyway. I think it's worth it for simplicity and aesthetics alone. It snaps onto the back of the 360 so well you don't even know it's there.
