It replaces PM spam with forum spam, which hits everyone and we already have enough of thanks to all the whining about lurkers.I like the "First quote method". It avoids PM spam and prevents those soulless lurkers from remaining anonymous.

How about this: don't cry "lurked" the moment you fail to redeem a code. If the error message is "code not valid", don't say it's lurked at all. It might be invalid, or you might not be eligible to redeem it (wrong region, already have it etc). Even if the error is "already been redeemed", how about waiting a few minutes for the receiver to post a thankyou?
