I was expecting a ME1 DLC deal before ME2 comes out, so that makes sense. Even though Pinnacle Station isn't supposed to be good, I figure it's worth picking up anyway.

I don't think either ME expansions got good reviews. I *might* pick it up as a way to get back into the game before ME2 comes out.

I have both, Bring down the sky is very enjoyable. Felt like I got my 400 msp worth. Pinnacle Station is nothing more than a combat simulator really, worth it at that deal but eh, feels very empty while playing it.

Nice to see the DLC discounted, I finally picked Mass Effect back up and have been playing through in anticipation for the sequel.
does this stack with the ea deal where ya get 800 pts back with 3 purchases?
anyone know?
I guess you are talking about this deal, right?

I have no idea if they count when purchased at a sale price -- the prices listed in that chart are clearly marked as the full non-discounted prices.

I guess there is a bit of controversy about this deal. Here is a quote from the EA Forums:

Here is my problem, I purchased my three items when the deal first came up Dec. 26 or 27 because it said "ending Jan. 1 2010" then it gets bumped to Jan. 5 and now not only is it bumped to Jan. 31 but it says "US Residents only"!!

I live in Canada, and can't be the only one being screwed over by this deal. They changed the rules after Jan. 1, the supposed end date of the promotion. I can't be the only one outside of the US who bought into this "promotion".

Sweet, I forgot about Portal's sequel! I'm looking forward to playing it.
Not to burst your bubble, but I don't think Portal: Still Alive is the sequel to Portal.

Still Alive isn't a sequel, but it does have some extra challenge maps. No new campaign stuff, ie no new GLaDOS.

As for ME, the Platinum Hits version came out before Pinnacle, so it's not on there.

Only challenge maps eh? Hmm, I doubt that's worth 800 pts... as I already have Portal, dammit!

I got BDTS a while ago, but after EVERYTHING I've read about Pinnacle, I'm not going to do it. I don't need to sully my experience with ME1 this soon before ME2.

I may just grab Portal tho. I finished it on orange box, but I think for 800 points, it's worth picking up...

Thanks for the responses, guys. It really pisses me off when I DLC comes out after the Plat. Hits/GOTY edition. It leaves me in the uncomfortable position of buying DLC even though I hate it.

Do you guys think I can get the complete Mass Effect experience without Pinnacle?

Yeah, you don't need it at all. You get a gun and the chance to buy top tier gear, but it doesn't matter.

Then again, given how rare DLC goes on sale, you might consider picking it up now just to save yourself a couple of bucks.
F Xbox live...seriously missed out on the Bringing down the Sky by what 1 hour WTF?
Actually, you did not miss out on the deal. It is the "Deal of the Week" ... it just started on the 18th.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I was down with Battleship being 400 pts. I went to major nelson's website and found this; however: "Plus Battleship for Hasbro Family Game Night is 400 Microsoft Points in Japan only."

He edited his post to include the Japan info. That hasbro game night is the biggest rip-off game out there with its current price structure. You can buy the game for $45 in store, or spend 5600 pts on the 7 games I think there are on it. Obviously, if you just want 1 or maybe two you might just download them, but 800 pts still seems awfully steep to me.

My girlfriend actually wanted me to get Battleship when she heard about the sale. Oh well.

Not to be a dick but why not just buy Battleship at the store and play with your girlfriend on a table?

I dropped the $6 to grab both DLCs to get my completion for the game back up to 100%.
I found Pinnacle Station to be a good refresher on the mechanics of the game, and now feel well equipped to jump into ME2 on Tuesday :)

Just finished Pinnacle Station.. meh, but I guess it's worth $3 though.. All I need is the level 60 cheevo.. but man it's taking forever to get there. Really looking forward to ME2!
