Microsoft just put out a press release announcing this month's Games on Demand. However, it also included this month's Gold Deal of the Week which are actually pretty lame.

October 12th - Hasbro Family Game Night games [400 points each or just wait for the retail release]
October 19th - Resident Evil 5 Versus Mode [240 Points]

Month of October. Thanks for the post though.

edit: Sorry. Can't read today. But nothing really sticks out for the month

Funny thing is that ive never jumped on any of these official "deals". RE5 Versus Mode and Pub Games? Got to be kidding. Meanwhile my MS Points balance keeps getting bigger.

I totally know what you mean. I broke down and bought themes. I mean, freaking THEMES. All because there weren't any good deals and I highly doubt there will be any good deals, anytime soon.

THEMES...I feel dirty

They were pretty cool themes though.

If the Hasbro games were 50% off, I'd probably get a couple. I bet they'll be some odd smaller percentage though.

It's crazy that they're trying to sell the Fable 2 pub games again... Not only are they no fun at all, but they've been included with Fable 2 for a year anyway.

Hmhmhmhm, maybe I can just watch some youtube for the cinematics in the PoP epilogue? I liked the game, played an hour or so, and I plan to eventually get to it. Wouldn't want to buy the extra for full price so the discount works, but if there's no point I guess I don't have to..

They all suck. Why not more important XBLA games M$?
Pub games isn't worth $1 by the way. Even I got it free and deleted after 5 minutes.

Yeah, definitely. The Hasbro games will be like 23.5% off. And as far as the Fable 2 Pub games ago, I am guessing they are trying to further suck in the people who are foolish enough to buy F2 in "episodes" off the marketplace, when a physical copy can be had for less.

I already have Sorry, Boggle, Battleship, and Scrabble. Now I will probably get Connect 4 and Yahtzee which I've been considering for a while. I wish we had prices, but whatever. Thanks

That's what I was thinking. Usually they let us know a week in advance, of the month, and release the pricing. I like that option because it makes me plan ahead and look for deal on points throughout the CAG listings.

COME MS lets get some routine going ...
might actually jump on pub games and verus mode I just got re5 and fable 2 recently.
I'm pretty sure that the games in Pub games are exactly the same as the in-game ones in Fable 2. So unless you're getting it for achievements, I would skip it. Also, I've heard the achievements in it are no cakewalk to get.

Yeah this month was pretty weak. I got the Prince of Persia Epilogue just because I loved the game and ever since DotW started, publishers don't really drop old DLC prices anymore. Would have been nice though if they actually gave it out at 50% and not this 30% nonsense.

I have almost all the Hasbro titles and love 'em! Their great to get my girl to play! And when my buddies and I aren't in the mood to kill zombies, it's a nice change of pace.

I highly recommend Yahtzee!

I have none of the Hasbro games. They were to pricey for me. But if they are offer 25% (maybe 33%?), I will buy a few. Right now, I want Battleship and Yahtzee.

I might get RE5 Versus since I never did download that, and still play the game every now and then. Not sure though, I could probably just do without it.

Hasbro Family Game Night will be available October 12 for 400 MS Points ($5), followed by the Resident Evil 5 Versus Mode on the October 19 for 240 points ($3). The month will close out with Fable 2 Pub Games on the 26th, also for 240 points.

Hope the hasbro games are 400 ms points. Ill buy a couple for that price. I did get POP dlc because I did like the game and was meaning to play through it again.

Thanks for the info, chatgirl. Added to the OP with credit to Joystiq since that's where 1up got their info.

Or you could just wait for the retail disc of Family Game Night coming out November 3rd.

It'll actually work out to be the same price as the XBLA games (six on the DOTW sale at $5 bucks apiece, plus the seventh one not on sale is $10 would equal the $40 bucks they want for the retail disc), but I know some of us still prefer discs over downloaded content we can't resell down the road.

Cheers!

Thanks! This is exactly the information I was looking for. I like the disc version because 1) I love my bookshelf collection, 2) disc prices are negotiable.

Since the Hasbro games are going to be half off, I'll probably end up picking up most of those. I enjoyed Scrabble and the demos for the others seemed good.

sooo thankfully you showed me that. Was just going to go out and buy a point card.

Microsoft continues to not understand downloadable pricing and continues to give reluctant people little incentive to move to downloadable games. Not only that, but they make these sales exclusive to gold subscribers, which baffles me, they should be trying to expand their downloadable market not limiting it.

They offer pub games for $3, meanwhile Direct2Drive has been offering tons of great full games for $5 over the past few weeks. People who don't normally buy pc games, let alone downloadable pc games are buying because the price is right.

Thanks, Raiden. I went ahead and made a note of that in the OP. I'll be glad to pick it up when it gets cheap down the road.

May get RE5 VS, but man I hate having an odd amount of points...I have 560 right now, VS mode won't make that any prettier...

Note that the retail disc probably won't install and play properly from the hard drive (no XBLA compilation discs have worked from the HDD), so the disc will still be spinning when you are playing a game using the retail compilation (unless MS has finally fixed this issue, doubtful)...

So you have to decide between a quiet system with instant launch of the games, or the ability to sell the game and get some of your money back, with the drawback of having to swap discs, and the heat and noise running off the disc creates. If you are tight on HDD space, then that would be a pro for gettting the disc version of all the games.

The retail version will quickly drop in price, I imagine, making it a better deal, especially if you pick it up used.

All in all, the DotW sucks this month.

Pub Games is normally more than 400 points? Wow...

I'm not really interested in any of these.
I want more deals like 50% off Alien Hominid HD and Puzzle Quest.
I instantly bought those games those weeks.

Probably because you have to play an individual game for like a million hours to win anything substantial and that most people would prefer to play a real gambling game than a phony one. Plus it's extracting and selling a dopey minigame from a retail title for way too much money.

Prince of Persia Epilogue [560 Points] - I'll probably pick this up since I know I'll get the game eventually for super cheap on Goozex and it has extra achievements. :) Sold!

Hasbro Family Game Night games - Damnit, I knew they'd do the disc release and I'd be super pissed if I hadn't gotten a few for $6/each on eBay and won the rest. Good deal for those who smartly refused to pay $10/each although I'd go with the retail version since you can actually sell it whenever you want and you'll probably find a deal on it later on.

Resident Evil 5 Versus Mode[240 Points] - Would've happily bought this at 400 MSP if it wasn't on the fucking disc. Glad I passed and I just sold my copy so this is a double pass, especially since you know they'll re-release RE5 with the new Jill prologue and motion controls.

Fable II Pub Games [400 Points] - Glad I got this free as a pre-order bonus. And I wouldn't pay for it anyways since it's in the full retail game. Pass!
