now i feel dumb for backing ms all this time and now i know how dumb they really are showing no games i don't care about and putting a 499 price point on it

amazon pre order are the best no money down unlike gamestop and if shows that it will not make much money on ebay jsut end order on amazon before it ships

CNET saying games will click in at $100
no way that happens why would that happen pc games look like x1 games and are only 50-60 bucks

I guess i'm the only person that feels the price is justified.  I always wanted to stream my gaming on twitch and the cost of the capture cards that everyone uses(Elgato, HD PVR2) are in the 140-190 dollar price range(doesn't even include the price for everything else you need).  I wouldn't need that anymore with the Xbox One.

Lots of chatter asking which Xbox One games will be available on 360. That's not a good sign.
...For M$ but a great sign for the rest of us. Maybe the average gamer is finally wising up. Right now Sony needs to stop hiding behind the Xbone's many flaws and give us some hardcore facts concerning DRM, because at this point I can't imagine anything they have to say is worse than what we've already seen. Regardless of what happens they will come out smelling like roses especially if their price point is under $500.

just hope the streaming is better then it is on black ops 2 which is awful

Sunset Overdrive trailer looked interesting.

I love the Dead Rising games to death (even with their flaws).  That trailer just didn't hook me.  Did not look like it had a Dead Rising feel.  Looked too much like any other off-the-shelf shooter.

And, $499?  Ridiculous.

This is where I'm sort of at. I'm disappointed that it's beyond what I would be willing to pay on release, but all the hardware and features add up to the $499 price point.

I can't imagine the PS4 is going to be much cheaper, but we will have to see, I am open to it.

Any guesses on where the new 360 model will be priced at? I sold a NIB "slim" 4gb 360 on craigslist yesterday for $175, so that guy probably isn't going to be very happy with this announcement.

i really think we will have a x1 system at launch for like 299 with two year live sub with it that they will announce in a month or two

299.99 would be my guess

 @ $500, the only thing Microsoft could have had going for them was the price.

Just when I thought you couldn't get any dumber, you go and do something like this... And totally don't redeem yourself.

All eyes on you Sony, gonna keep your console reasonably priced or what?

if you really think about it for what is inside the system and the kinect 500 bucks is really a decent price point it's pretty much a gaming pc in a small box. we are no longer in the world of game systems not being pc like.

Sony could literally launch at the same price and if they have no drm will still probably own x1
not in this economy 400 bucks is the sweet spot for new systems

To be fair, MS said they won't take a loss on this console so they COULD have made it cheaper instead of making a profit off a launch console.

Maybe the low yield rumors are true. I mean if they're only able to make say....one million this holiday then they could charge whatever they want and still sell out. It's not a mass market price for the "TV TV TV" crowd and it's not a friendly machine for the gamer crowd. Must be low yields. HAS to be low yields...

If Sony said $299 I'd buy a PS4.  But there's no way that's going to happen.  Maybe if Xbone was $399, but $499?  No way that thing kisses anything lower than $399.

pre order on amazon is no brainer if it turns out this thing does sell pretty well we could be in another last gen launch thing when people double their money

if i had to guess ps4 will be 400 or 450 i hope we hear release time and price tonight

Even setting aside a lot of other nonsense, at least $100 of that price is for the required Kinect bullshit and a lot of people resent that.

I agree. I dont understand why people think $500 is a lot. The PS3 was more then that and the PS3 console itself had nothing but Blu ray. No netflix, no apps, few games, and a terrible online infrastructure. It still sold decent. Both the Xbox One and PS4 wont be barebones feature wise like the previous generation consoles were at launch. I am a little surprised at the 500gb HDD though. For $500 we should be getting a 1TB HDD.

I think the conference was fine but I wont be buying a new console until it can fully replace my old one. And that wont be until I can play Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 on a Xbox One. No way would I buy a Xbox One and keep my 360 around just for that one game. Come on Capcom port it for the Next gen Please

to be honest i have no faith in sony doing a system for 400 my guess would be 450-550 dollers

sony products are always way over prices don't matter if it's game systems,tv's and audio stuff

If both consoles are priced $450 or higher I'm going to be so sad.

Also I think the blu-ray license might have pushed it a little higher on MS.

Definitley sitting out the Xbone launch. $500 is too much for me for a game console even without all the DRM and Kinect nonsense.

Most I've ever paid for a console is $400 when I got my 360 in fall 2007, and that was a Frys deal that included five solid games.

If PS4 is $400 and has no DRM I'll give it strong launch consideration. But both of those are probably unlikely so I'll likely sit out the first year or two and wait for price drops and see how things playout.

I reserved one. I'll reevaluate down the line if i'm no longer interested. Don't care about used game buying fucks. Don't care about always online, I'm always online anyway. People who don't have an internet connection can stick to the other two.

Just gotta say, the one game announced (and fucked up thanks to no sound) that I'd want was the Panzer Dragoon successor.  Not dropping $500 for it though.

I know how you feel man. This is probably the one X1 exclusive I'd consider the system for but it's far from enough to make up for the deficiences.

sony isnt packing a mandatory kinect (or ps eye) with their console. id honestly be shocked if its $499 or higher. probably $399, maybe$449
ps3 was less powerfull then ps4 and look how much they charged at launch. sony sucks at pricing products
blu ray was new tech and much more expensive at the time. dont be so naive and dense.
did you not see how they priced at vita look at how they over price other electronics like tv's and home theater systems and what not. sony over charges for their products because they think they have to because it has the sony name on it. ps4 will be between 400-550 and i doudt we hear price point tonight.

I had a feeling it would be $500 and I'm okay with it. I'm not buying it, but this was better than PS3's inital $599 price and it does come with Kinect. For those against the price, would you buy it if the console was backwards compatible?

Lots to say about this show, but for now I will say the biggest suprises for me were Insomniac with a Xbox exclusive, the Killer Instinct reveal, and for the first time during a Xbox conference - NO CELEBRITIES!

Biggest laughs -

1. During the Forza presentation-  The presenter said the driver drove like real people. Right away, one of the AI players crashed.

2. During the Smart Glass Killer Instinct presentation - If you closed your eyes and listened to the two players, it sounds like porn.

"You got a stick"  "ohhh"  " ahhhh" "you're enjoying this, aren't you?"

The audio trouble was more sad than funny, especially for the presenters.

Still not sold on the X1 but I decided to go ahead and preorder it anyways just incase.  I'm hoping that tonight Sony comes out and says not as strict DRM, no trade/borrow restrictions, no internet connection required and 399 or less price point.  If thats the case I will be getting a PS4 instead at launch.
