XFX HD-5570 ATI Radeon 1GB DDR3 HDMI PCI-e Video Card $30+tax Cowboom dotd

If it says sold out, refresh the page every few minutes until another one comes up. DOTD is not dead unless replaced with another item.

Doesn't hurt to get an extra GPU to xfire. Depends on the person by the way, you don't need top-end GPUs to run most games but you need one that's better than the Intel default, and GOSH that item is terrible.

So I impulsed and instantly regret it, but I cannot find a way to cancel my order, card was charged instantly with no easy way to cancel, unless I am totally blind. Anyway, no thanks Cowboom, not allowing order cancellation is a big no no with me.
And here is an even nicer one, but so what?

Do you understand the idiocy of trashing a $30 video card and then comparing it to one that costs over $600 more?
lol exactly.

I actually have a Sapphire HD-5570 card in my PC now which I installed about a year ago. It works fine in my extremely outdated Vostro 400. But then, I don't have hundreds of dollars I can spend every month to get the latest and greatest of PC hardware.

lol and this is why for the most part I've dropped out of PC gaming. I don't have the money to spend on graphics cards that cost double or triple an actual console with all the components in it I need to play a game. To each their own, obviously, but it definitely is not my thing.

Id like to get into pc gaming, originally in the early 90's it wasn't hard to keep up with the technology, but now there's a lot that you have to stay up to date on it seems, and consoles have made things convenient. If I could build a decent machine to play the latest games (not necessary on max settings) for around $400-500 then only have to update it so often id probably try to do that but id need a pretty detailed guide I'm sure as I really have very little knowledge on the subject.

I got a 6870 for $150 and it runs almost all games on max settings at 1080p. Spent around $800 total on a computer that will play games very well for a couple of years and last even longer for miscellaneous other stuff.

Thanks for those links....I'm going to build a PC hopefully before the end of the year. I was annoyed when my cheap PC wouldn't play The Old Republic. The wife said I could use a new hobby anyways. ;)

Yeah, I think some of you need to hang out in the PC forum for a while. Really, a modest computer nowadays will play most games reasonably well, and will probably last longer than you think. After having my Intel E6600 in my rig for 6 years, I only just recently upgraded, and even so it was still a fine gaming machine for the most part. Video cards probably have a shorter shelf life, but you probably can get a good 2-3 years out of a modest video card before you feel the itch to upgrade.

Personally, unless you plan on gaming at very high resolutions, high end cards aren't really needed and aren't worth the investment. You can get good video cards for ~$100.
