YMMV- Gamestop and Best Buy are receiving NES Classics. UPDATED

why did your bro cut in line? geez
Lol yeah. Well he literally just parked and got there just a little after the lady and he wanted to to chit chat with my sis. I guess the lady was ok with it at first until opening. He knew the consequences and paid for it. He's ok with it now since he could just go over my sisters and try it out lol. But it just sucks because even if he didn't, he still wouldn't have gotten one since the lady bought 2.

@redonkous, why your brother didnt complain it back .. says those two are a same family.
It's because he cut he had no say anymore and they were going to do a raffle if they didn't settle it before going in store. He didn't want a raffle because my sis would have to do the raffle too instead of being guaranteed to get one since she was 3rd in line. So he just didn't wanna make it more of a hassle and opted out so my sis could get one guaranteed. The person behind the lady should have complained though since the sign on the register did say "one per household" but I'm guessing by the time they read that sign, that lady already bought the last 2. Oh well. I think if my bro didn't cut he would have more leverage to complain but it is what it is. The hunt continues. :)

How accurate is Brickseek? I'm just curious cause I checked around 9am (east coaster) and saw 2 available at my closest Target (only 2-3 minute drive) so I figured what the hell I'm not going out of my way so if there's some there, then great and if not, oh well. Anyways, there wasn't anyone in electronics so I found a guy setting end caps in sporting goods and asked him if they got any. He said they got 4 and they were gone when the store opened. Now, I just checked Brickseek again and those same 2 are still showing available so I was just wondering how accurate Brickseek is and if this is a case of "we got 4" really meant "we got 6" and the employees have 2 stashed away.

Brickseek has about a 30 minute delay. Chances are they sold it not long before you got there and brickseek hasn't updated yet.

I got a great story about trying to get an NES Classic at a Walmart today, I'll let you know as soon as I get home from trying to get one all day. It's quite the story.

Oh you know we're waiting

The first store I tried was 4 of 4 before 6am, one guy was sleeping on a mattress!
Amazing how different the Target experience is in a technohipster city vs. 20 miles outside Amish Country like the one I was at.

Still sold out soon enough, but no one waiting outside door, no ticketing necessary.

I waited at one of my wal-marts..got there around 7:30 pm, the truck had been there since 2pm unloading..two employees told me that nobody else was in line and that they should be out soon.

Someone else came up to the counter with his gf asking if they had any NES, and the employee straight up lied to the customer saying that they just sold them a few minutes ago....

I was like wait..what?  I thought maybe because I accounted for 1 and that they were holding the other 2 or something..

So after that guy and his gf walked away.. I overheard the two employees conversation, they weren't exactly quiet or subtle to say this,  "hey man we should hide the NES at the electronics counter until midnight" .... and I couldn't catch the rest of whatever they said..but i was like......?????

Anyway two more guys showed up and a different employee said that they should be coming out soon...

945 rolls around and they finally showed up.  They said the truck had been there since 2 pm and it was the last box pulled off the truck out of the 2800 boxes that were on the truck...less than a 1% chance of that happening, not sure if the employee who told the customer off had something to do with that or not..

They had 5 employees and 2 managers escort the three units to the electronic counter like it was the fucking president..and to top it off all 7 employees just stared at us while we checked out.

Good ole Walmart

I just checked Brickseek and it's showing that a local Target has 3 NES Classics for sale. Do the stock numbers update late at night? It's currently 1:30am where I live. I'm already heading to Target tomorrow morning to pick up a Hori PlayStand for my Switch, so it won't hurt to check. I just don't want to line up outside or something, if it's there then I'll get one.

Its there and you better get there at 5am if you really want one and it might be too late by then.
I don't think I want it that badly lol. I'm just wondering if it's possible that they have been there all day. It seems like most people in here were lining up for them Friday morning.

Brickseek showed limited stock  with 0 on hand and 0 availability this morning.  Took a chance and waited at 6:45 since I was out anyways to drop my son off for a band competition.  Nobody else waiting when a manager came out to let employees in and told me they only got one which he put it at the service desk for me.

I was excited to tell my son we got one so I texted him a pic, and then he texted me back a pic of him playing Mario Kart 8 on a Switch his friend brought for the bus ride. :bomb:  :bomb:  :bomb:

Definitely shenanigans at the Madison, Alabama store yesterday. Myself and another guy inquired about them since Brickseek showed three in stock and two employees claimed they searched far and wide and couldn't find them. Brickseek showed those three in stock for most of the day and then it went to limited stock and then out of stock last night. Obviously someone was stashing them somewhere.

Yup, this happened at my local Walmart store here a few weeks ago. Employee claimed he searched everywhere earlier and must've been an error, and never willing to search after I got there. Luckily before I left, a manager came along and asked what happened, I explained and manager said they definitely got some in because she personally got it off the truck. But then she went to search for it and the NES Classics were no longer where she left it in the back. However she told me not to leave yet as she was determined to find it. After about 45 minutes of searching she was able to find it and told me someone had taken them and clearly hid them in an area in the back where other employees would not look. The manager was really angry too and told me she will get to the bottom of whomever was pulling the shenanigans and apologized to me for the wait. I think I knew the employee that was behind it too, cause this employee was the first guy I asked and just brushed me off saying they havnt gotten any and was also the only one to even refuse to help look for it. He also looked upset and annoyed when manager said she was determined to find them. I also never see him again at that store in subsequent weeks, I wonder if he was fired or maybe left because of that manager.

I was able to get one at Target this morning.  Showed up at 6 am and was the first in line and one other group showed up about five minutes later to get the other two.

Missed out by seconds twice yesterday at Walmart.  My local one had them show up in stock as I was leaving work, so I went straight over at 5.  They told me to come back about 9:30 as they would unload the truck then.  I went back over at 7 in case anyone was waiting, and they were handing them out to people as I walked into the electronics section.  If you really want one and your Walmart gets them in throughout the day, you might be best off just waiting the whole time despite when they say the truck will be unloaded (and subtracting an hour or two off of their time).  After that I went straight to another Walmart that had 3 and had the same situation happen where the lady was getting them from the back for three others.

Target near me showed 2 late this morning. Get there electronics kid said the system is messed up that there's nothing here. I'm like let me speak to manager some kid looking 17yrs old comes around claiming he's a manager. I'm like naw walk away guy and girl claimed their section managers. Both refused to look up DPCI on their gun. Flat out refused saying if you look at brickseek it's not accurate

Went up to CS the lady was more than happy to check number and sure enough 2 in stock. By this time had another manager claiming they're being held til tomorrow and tix handed out.

Finally "another " manager came to CS I explained how they wouldn't check inventory on their gun in electronics but I had to come to CS to do it. Her reply "ok"

Yep, you have to ask more than one associate if you feel like they claim they don't know or have them.  The in-store price scanners also shows what those scanner gun shows, so if an associate doesn't want to or don't have that on hand, you could check yourself if it shows up at the stock room.  But if nothing shows up, you really have to find a person willing to look it up in their system to get better info.

At this point even managers are going to lie. They're getting the final NES Classic shipments so they know whats up. I went today this morning right at opening. Talked to the manager, and she immediately said they sold the only two they had left. But Brickseek still showed them both in stock, I even waited 20 minutes walking around and they were still in stock via Brickseek. Then 10 minutes later out of stock. I think she sold them to herself or an employee but she waited till I left to do it. Very annoying that even managers are being dishonest about it.

There was nobody leaving the store with packages or anything, so i knew something was off. oh well. I'll be sure to Pre-order a SNES Mini right away to avoid this mess if Nintendo makes it.

Which store?

I'm really sad about this lol. I'm not usually like this but damn I really wanted one. Although my area has tons of stores, it also has tons of people. Never stood a chance but I guess that's the tradeoff of not camping out :/

One can only dream, that would be amazing. I doubt Nintendo would give us such a thing.

Which store?
It was in the Bronx NY - E Hutchinson River Pkwy. 2 NES Classics popped up late in the morning, so I knew I had a chance because of how late it showed up on Brickseek. No campers outside at all. Walked in, asked the female manager right away and she already knew what I was talking about. But claimed both were just sold out. Meanwhile both NES Classics were still in stock on Brickseek for over 20 minutes I was still walking around the store. The moment I stepped out of the store I waited 10 more minutes. Then bam Sold Out, but no customers leaving or even entered during that time I waited. Something very fishy about that, nothing I could do about it either.

I meant Walmart or Target

we had 4 targets in the Sacramento area each get 3 in stock....all had people waiting before doors opened. Only two showed inventory online.
Yeah I hit Roseville and Folsom this morning and both had lines already so I didn't bother getting out. Elk Grove had some too but i didn't drive out there. What was the fourth store?

I love how Nintendo is giving me no choice but to pirate their games if I want to play them with my son.  There are thousands of people, myself included, that just want to play these old games.  Oh well..

Yup, besides them being on virtual console. No choice whatsoever!

Lol. Many of these games are much cheaper to pick up at a yard sale or resale shop. No need to pirate. Yaaar!!!

So I should buy an obsolete Wii U instead of spending $60 on an NES Classic just to play some old nintendo games? Psh.
Or you can buy a Wii or you can buy an NES and go hunting and you have no right to say what is obsolete when you're trying to buy a console just to play games three decades old.

Too bad the Virtual Console emulation is garbage, even the NES Classic Edition emulation blows it away:

Hasn't the justification for all things Nintendo after the 16-bit era always been "you're playing it for the gameplay, not the graphics"? So it's hard to say otherwise still when arguing about Nintendo on Nintendo. Plus I don't think anyone would be able to tel the difference for the most part because no one is going to remember their nostalgic memories perfectly to say what's wrong with something off hand.

Can't believe I'm still reading this thread since I finally got mine and don't want to get any to flip. Yet it's somehow entertaining to continue reading others' ongoing efforts to buy for personal use or to flip.

Oh yeah, no choice. Rofl. I mean if you want to play E.T. sure, but every good game Nintendo published is going to or already is available in their online store for VC. Stop trying to justify piracy.

Don't you have some Nintendo finance column to write?

That Roseville store off 65 is so damn busy and of course thats the closest to me. I never even bother going there for anything like that because i know that there will be dozens of people in line and stuff sells out the fastest than any other store in Nor Cal. :(

Wow this is crazy! I actually went to a Target this morning that said they have two in stock. The employee told me they got like 5 and sold them already and brickseek was wrong. I should've asked a manager, too. I don't really know how accurate brickseek can be. I am checking now though, almost 2 hours later and it still says 2 in stock at that same Target.

Edit: I just called to see if the customer service would tell me something different. They told me the same thing the guy in electronics told me. That they had 5 this morning, and all sold at store opening with people lining up. Not sure why brickseek is still saying 2 available.
