Zellers Store Liquidation game/electronics section

dvdswapper

CAGiversary!
It says that it some sales starts today but many places actually started on Monday.
10-30% off everything in store. The lady on the phone couldn't get anyone from electronics so I don't know what exactly the discounts are on the games/electronics but it won't be more than 30% off.
Could be systems at 30% but don't know for sure.
Anyways the sale will be going on for a few months so expect a slow rise in discounts.
Here's the locations
wow your like the closing down sale specialist hmv then this pro
Sears will be next as they are being sold to another US company.
I try my best to help out. Just lucky that no one else posted about it.
So according to other sites electronics are at 10% off at the moment.

Wait ... Sears Is closing down.

Nope, though they are closing (most likely moving) three (4?) of their flagship-ish stores in Calgary, Vancouver and Ottawa by October. Their landlord (Cadillac Fairview) bought out the leases. Other locations are staying put, so I'd imagine stock will mostly be transfered to other locations.

About time been waiting for this for over 10 years, not for deals just to see this abomination of a store gone. Dont get me wrong ill still go and check it out like everyone else somewhat excited only to have my hopes and dreams crushed seeing 4-5 year old stuff still at 4-5 year old prices. Nothing like grabbing a copy of Lair, afro samurai and heavenly sword and the total is $180 plus taxes.......thanks but ill just keep the airport as the one place in the world that will reem me.

Id be interested though if they actually had deals hopefully more info floods in whats actually half decent cause I know my store still has stock from probably before I was born.

^^^ This. Went to my local Zellers with all the "GINORMOUS HUGE CLEAROUT EVERYTHING MUST GO" signs plastered everywhere ... what a joke. It was like walking into a time machine. Even with the 10% off, things were still more than twice the price of other retailers.

Oh well, I got some exercise.

They are bleeding heavily and many insiders are speculating whether or not Sears will just close entirely. Nordstrom is grabbing a few of their prime mall spaces and it was speculated that Nordstrom would take over most of the Sears spaces in prime locations, whether in a mall or not.

It's not happening anytime soon but that's the only company other than Zellers that's doing badly. Even Rogers video who we thought would close all their video stores have yet to do that. Many still making huge profits from rentals in Ontario.

i have one rogers video left near me and it's 20 mins away no more then 30 .. i don't really rent games anymore and when i did it was with the Late Blockbuster Video. so now i can't rent games anymore. and if the Rogers closed down that's only so far from me i wouldn't know cause i don't go out that way. i wouldn't even partake in Zellers Clearance either unless something was posted worth while to get .. like DVD's or blu-rays or something.

They are definitely getting out of video games, probably as a part of their plan to stay solvent. They are also getting rid of toys in-store, and just offering them in their catalogs. I'm not sure when the games-related clearance starts, but probably soon.

Their website shows quite a bit of gaming items. I think the prices explain why they're getting out of the business http://www.sears.ca/catalog/video-gaming/1500

Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition $39.99

Gran Turismo 5 ( the first edition copy with just the game only ) $59.99

What in the hell... yea this here alone would explain it all by itself.

* EDIT * WOAH WOAH WOAH ... that's nothing $59.99 for UNCHARTED DRAKES FORTUNE ! that's the first uncharted and the asking price is $59.99 that's a GH game going for $29.99 ( maybe you could get it slightly cheaper somewhere but that's a maybe ) god damn .. what a joke !

40% games
60% off accessories

Jane/Wilson

Although most were over priced.
More closures will be up to 60% off soon so start checking your Zellers is it's in liquidation.
Most of the new releases are gone but they had about 8 ROCKSmith ps3 games $79.99-40%-60% off depending on cashier as they didn't scan properly today.

I went to a Zellers last week just to check the prices and i was horrified at what i saw. I actually saw a copy of Fable 2 and Halo 3 for $59.99.

I have a $70 Zellers gift card and i want to know what to do with it, will Target still accept it or will i have to blow it all before they go out of business.

I imagine they won't be getting Max Payne 3?

No Max Payne I would think either. I don't think Target will be accepting gift cards from Zellers. Call HQ and see what their policy is on the GC.

I'm sure your Zellers GC will be valid at the Bay. Go buy some hats, they're about the only reasonably priced thing in the Bay (only when on sale of course, which seems often enough).

There are Zellers locations closing on June 6th so now is a great time to check out the fixtures if there are any that you are interested in.

My wife talked me into these 3 yesterday:

This was thrown in to sweeten the deal for $25:

My wife really wanted the Nintendo one:

And seeing how the 360 is my favorite system I had to get this one:

Came out to 125 for each unit and they are by far the nicest ones in Edmonton. The asking price started out at $500 for each and they just marked them down to $250 but when we offered $200 for the pair they quickly offered $250 for the pair, then we agreed to $25 extra for the last one.

Also games are 60% off but they are pretty much picked clean

I wouldn't mind picking up an xbox shelf but how the hell do you carry that thing around!!! weighs close to a ton.

Stopped at Westmount location in Edmonton, pretty picked over. I grabbed Super Punch Out for $8. The St. Albert store started there sale too but it sucks, only 10% off games and consoles and 20% off accessories. It doesn't help that their regular prices are more then everywhere else. I can't wait for Target to come here, Zellers is terrible.

Nice! I snagged one of those World of Nintendo cabinets myself from a Zellers closeout a couple years ago, I still love it. You should try and peel off that aftermarket Wii logo, and see if you have a proper old plexiglas logo that'll light up when you replace the cabinets lightbulbs (assuming your cabinet has the usual lights).

That's what dolly's are for. You ever try carrying a fridge up a couple flights of stairs?

The Wii logo will be coming off for sure, it's GBA under it. I really want to get a world of Nintendo sign for it but I'm not sure where I would look.

That is awesome that you got one from them, we went to every single Zellers in Edmonton looking to see if there were any old school ones left but this was the most vintage one we could find.

I kinda think I heard about some place reproducing the old signs, but I forget where. And I doubt it was especially cheap. But I could be worth Googling around if you want it.

I wish some Zellers' around here was doing the clearence thing, I'd love to get another cabinet of some sort. But there isn't a single store in the lower mainland doing anything :| As for mine having the right oldscholl sign, it kinda helps that I snagged it like 5-10 years ago. It was old then, but I'm guessing they're just getting harder to find unmolested.

I had to laugh, the Zellers by my house still had copies of Black Ops on PC... $69.99

Even with 60% off it wasn't a good deal.

In fact, all the games that were left were games that EVEN with 60% off would be cheaper to buy somewhere else. Wolfenstein for $59.99? Sign me up! It's $9.99 at Best Buy.

I checked out Dufferin Galleria, and there weren't any real clear-out prices on anything. The store was pretty much dead, too. If anything, there were fewer customers than usual.
I forgot to ask when the final closing date would be. I'd like to check back closer to the actual closure date. Hopefully they get serious by then.

I was at the Zellers at Silver City(Blair rd?) in Ottawa tonight. Games were 70% off, but most were junk. Only decent game seemed to be Halo: Reach for $12. They had a small stack of about 10 copies. They also had a copy of one of the Ratchet's(in red box) for 8 bucks, but I think those have hit $10(possibly less) quite a few times.

Also, unrelated to Zellers, but Words in Bed is half-off on Android right now. :whee:
I guess I'm late to the party but i saw HMV mentioned in an earlier post. Are they closing down too?
They got out of the video game business.
