CAGiversary!
Zoom for Kinect reduces the space needed for the Kinect by 40%, but there needs to be some reviews first before that's solidified completely.

This is probably nice to work with after you have a TV mount clip since that already adds about another ft. I got that for about $7.59. I might get in one this as well. I play my 360 in my kitchen, where the food is. haha
I need to see reviews on this first.

It won some awards at E3 so that's a good sign.
They guys over at Kotaku had nothing but good things to say about it when the previewed it at E3

Wonder how it works though. There's a reason why you need some space though. I remember doing 2 players on my Kinect for Sonic riders and let's just say there was a reason why only one of us won. We kept getting in each others space. Does the zoom also increase the width instead of the length?

I get e-mails all the time promising that their particular product increases BOTH the width and the length.

All we can do is hope.

LOL, at least those offers come with a free trial.

I haven't bought a Kinect yet because of the space requirements. I've been waiting for some reviews of this product so I can finally buy a Kinect. Hopefully it works as well as advertied from E3.

I have my eye on this. Space is a big issue but equally important is detection. A big complaint about Kinect is with lighting conditions but this doesn't make mention of any improvements there. I'm also curious to see if ground detection is better. Exercise games will be a true test.

I am in for one! Kinect works great in my livingroom, but we currently have space for only one player at a time. I have seen demos of this zoom device and it looks like it will do the trick to get a second player in the game.

I'm intrigued by this, I can't wait to read customer reviews.

Are you sure you aren't mistaking this with one of those Viagra spam mails. :booty:

:applause: Cute. I wonder why they got pushed back, not as perfect as we thought lol

i wonder how this affects kinect chat....or games that use the camera extensively...i mean when watching the video it doesn't look like the middle lens (which looks to be a camera...i dont know for sure) is covered with the same type of ...covering...that the other two eyes get, but it would be annoying to have to constantly take the cover off and on so you don't have weird proportions or something from the nyko lense.....and if there is no problem there with it...then why with all the time microsoft spent making this...did they not do this from the start....even when I didn't live in this tiny apartment it was annoying to have to move my coffee table completely out of the way..and move my couch back...when if this product does as advertised...i wouldn't have had to do any of that.

The Kinect as it stands has low resolution because the 360 just can't handle that much processing power. The next generation will try to fix that but where we are, the Kinect is still at it's beta I guess. There's a bit of lag and the precision's not exact, it can't be though since we were just introduced to the motion sensor tech without a controller. Any errors the Kinect has will be fixed through updates and time.

What exact is Kinect chat though? Video chatting but just with the name Kinect? I've always wanted to try video chatting with the Kinect since that seems possible.

well my issue is this is just a lens attachment that makes things better.....why not make it this way from the start...there has to be SOME downside right? or did microsoft just make a mistake in releasing it as is?

the kinect itself has a processing chip/memory inside of it (the rumor this was removed was later debunked by a teardown of kinect if memory serves me correct)...i know that when hooked up to a PC the resolution can be greater as well...so hopefully through a patch later things will open up more.....some games are quite laggy, but try Child of Eden....as far as input lag...it seems forgotten to me in that at least and it's pretty frantic at times

but to answer your question yes kinect chat is just a video chat program that you can use if you both have kinect...the camera will follow your movements a little bit...you can zoom in and out using the controller....it's nice as you can use the kinect microphone to talk....with microsofts aquisition of skype...I have to believe in the future there will be some promising features enabled here *crosses fingers*
Gonna pick this up. My kinect is currently unplayable due to space issues.
Mine is two its still in the box since last x-mas and I have like 12 sealed games for it. I figured i would give the Zoom a try if it works good enough for my son to play Wipeout it will be well worth it.

I'm interested in this but Microsoft released a statement saying that this device would screwup the delicate alchemy of the kinect. I'm holding off till a few people review it. I read it on kotaku and destruction. Do with that what you will...

Where does it state this? Can you verify with a link? I'm curious to see this as well as the rest of CAG.

The Kinect is still in it's beta, there is no delicate alchemy, it has MANY flaws as stated before. Lag time, and low resolution, what "alchemy" is there needed to maintain? Nyko has been pretty legit with their accessories.

I found a source, but it doesn't state anything about "alchemy".

If you think about it, this shouldn't be surprising, since endorsing this product would like admitting that the Kinect is flawed...

After reading it, Microsoft is really shitty when it comes to accessories. Microsoft doesn't want you to get it.. because its not the official one. If Microsoft wasn't so proud of their products being perfect and slow on the draw with the accessories, maybe they wouldn't have to deal with Nyko trying to make a patent on the product. One of the possible reasons this item keeps being pushed back is because of the patent.

I am interested to see how this item works, because I have a VERY small space to play in (bedroom), I can use the Wii but trust me I am cutting it close on that one. But I would like to know if this really solves the problem. If this product works I may be able to get a kinect someday.
