Battlefield Heroes - Whos gonna play this.

I definitely plan on taking it for a spin, yeah. Love the art style and it looks like it's an overall fun time. I also like the price quite a bit.

Yeah the price definitely makes this a day one "purchase". I know the art style draws alot of comparison to tf2 but id say this has a more of a early 30s and 40s propaganda cartoon vibe while tf2 is definitely more pixar movie type thing.
 
I can't say no to free, but I'm in suspense to see how "casual" they've made it. I liked the huge, drawn-out battles of earlier Battlefield games, so their goal of 15 minutes per round is a big turnoff. I didn't even really care for Bad Company's two-CP gold rush mode, which I'm guessing will be slower than BF Heroes's default gametype.

What I'd really like is BF2143. Plain old BF3 would be fine, too, but I want all those futuristic unlocks and my pilum back. :)
 
Well, to answer the title of the thread:
EVERYONE.
A solid "free" FPS with those kinds of features, this is going to be a hit. I'm very much down for starting a clan.
 
Ya, this is a perfect game for the times when I'm too lazy to start a more "involved" game. Log on, kill some stuff, log off.

My only concern is that, based on gameplay vids floating around, the TTKs are ridiculously high. One firefight seemed to last a minute. Certainly better than instakill spam all over the place, though.

TF2 was actually also going for the cartoon vibe that you could have seen used by a few distinct illustrators of the 30s and 40s. I think when making a game with bright colors, blue skies and puffy clouds for a low end PC, it just naturally ends up looking like TF2 who also went in the direction of a goofy unrealistic shooter.

I registered for the beta. I heard this game is no longer played in your browser?

Was it ever supposed to be played in your browser? Not in the months I've been following it. The browser is central to the game, but it's not where you play it (except to launch).

Yeah i think the whole point of going to there website is so they get the page views for there advertisements. I know you launch the game from your web browser but im pretty sure your gonna have to dl there game client.

Im pretty sure it wont be anymore boring than any other battlefield game maybe more people will play this one it will also will definitely be more ridiculous in what you can do.
 
Hopefully this BF will load quickly. One of the reasons why I hardly play BF2 is because it can take about 10 mins just to start the game, load a map, and find a respectable server.
 
Battlefield Heroes does look pretty fun from the impressions I've read so far. My only complaint about free online games is that they attract too many asshats.

We are constantly getting feedback from our current testers, which in turn enables us to improve the game at a very good rate.
At the same time we’ve been working on getting more servers available and testing the stability of the current ones.

We expect to let more testers into “the Arena” this week, so keep your eyes peeled for some good news.

Beta is OK, it is a beta after all, I can't compare it to any other battlefield since i haven't played any. It's a little weird at first since it's a third person point of view shooter. But once you get used to it it's fine. Overall it's fun so far.
 
Nice, I hadn't heard of this until now.

Reminds me of TF2, but it's a Battlefield game so it has the potential to be even better. Count me in.
 
I was one of the first to get in the beta but I never had the time to check it out. Is the beta they currently have the same one from the beginning?
 
This game looks pretty interesting, I'm definitely excited for it. I'm excited for this and for Quake Live. Two free games based on successfully platforms, can't be too bad lol. I am totally down for making a clan for this. Or we should make a CAG Web games clan or something along those lines so we can have one big clan for both this and Quake Live. Just my opinion.
 
I hear they put out more beta keys. Anyone else in? Whats it like? Any extra keys floating around I can use? :D
 
I don't know if the older beta keys work but I was too lazy to bother with this so let me know if anyone would like to try out my unused BFH beta key.

hey man, got the key, thx a ton. However, I cannot find where to go and input this...not sure how to get into the beta with the key.
 
I'm in the closed beta, and to me it's just not very good...it might just not be my type of game but I think it's horrible (loved the other battlefields though)
 
Man... I haven't been keeping up much with this (or BF series news in general), but I was over at TotalBattlefield and read that servers are going to max out at 16 players, 8v8. It's like they're trying to turn me away.

Where's BF3 already? We'd better hear about that before any Bad Company or Mirror's Edge sequels.
 
while it's obviously not going to be the absolute best multiplayer experience, for what it is (FREE), i'm not going to complain much. still looking forward to its release.
 
Yeah supposedly there gonna open the beta back up in a month or so, which is good because I got my new gaming pc and it should be able to run the game smoothly.

LOL 16 players? I thought the battlefield games are all about large groups of players? I still wanna check this game out anyways.
