Basically I am making 2 threads, one spoiler free and one where people can ask for help with the game. I think this is probably the best way to do it. That way everyone can enjoy the game, and we will not see a bunch of people starting new threads.
dont the parts when your communicating with hutchinson or whatever her name is remind you of metal gear solid?
I think her name was Hunnigan. And yeah, it's very MGS.

Just a quick question, does RE4 make alot of references to the past games? Should I go back and finish Code Veronica before I play this or will I not miss anything important?

Damn is it me or did they make RE4 a tad too difficult in the beginning of the game? I keep on getting mauled when I go into the village grrrrr
Redcar you are offically the GAG GayAssGamer[/sigh]
I have no idea whether that is an actual spoiler or if he's joking. Do you know? I can delete it if it is.

Alright, looks like Led took care of it. I didn't know what the hell he was talking about. Sorry.

Whoops sorry about my other post. I thought this was the other thread. Also I was talking about RE2. I didn't know that people haven't played RE2 yet. I'm really sorry.

I think you're being genuine. I realize you could have easily mistaken this for the other thread, but please understand you could be ruining the game for other CAGs.

Sarcasm rules.
Cute.

But in the future, just remember that it's a bad idea to shaq-fu around in a Casey thread.

Have an awesome day.
What I said I was sorry and I didn't said "Sarcasm rules".
What I said I was sorry and I didn't said "Sarcasm rules".
If you're being genuinely sorry, then I renig my last comment. But I don't see how the "I didn't know anyone hadn't played RE2 yet" comment could be anything but sarcasm. Maybe I'm reading too far into it. I apologize.

Yes I'm really sorry and I didn't mean to sound like an ass when I said "I didn't know anyone hadn't played RE2 yet" .
Yes I'm really sorry and I didn't mean to sound like an ass when I said "I didn't know anyone hadn't played RE2 yet" .
I apologize for jumping down your throat. I was reading it as "Jeez guys, sorry for posting a spoiler to a 6-year-old game that may or may not be a part of the new installment in the series." But looking at it again, I can tell you were trying to apologize. Again, sorry for getting on your case.

And I meant it when I said "Have an awesome day."

This sounds like a big bunch of panzies talking here....

I dont thing this classifies as a spoiler.

When you first get to the lake. I will stress first..

Head to the end of the dock and you will see the black bass swiming around. Well once you have killed about 3-4 of them that last one is a "Gold Black Bass" and its worth about $12500.

Let me know if anyone gets it..

Damn straight this game is difficult!!! Before I made it past the first house I was mauled... then mauled again six more times in the village! Extremely fun game though and the graphics are sweet!

hmm I didn't catch a bass, I take a note of that. I ran out of the docks once all hell started braking loose. Wonder what else I missed out on? Guess I'll find out once I play throught it again.

 You weren't kidding! I have just reached chapter 3... and wow! The reflexes the game requires is sometimes uncanny, and honestly I think it adds a world of depth to the game.

Side Note... I have taken a vacation from Vana' diel... ack... there is life outside of FFXI?!

yea anyone saying it is too easy needs to get into chapter 2-3 and up. I only died like 15 times until I reached chapter 3. Now I have died a total of 40 times

LOL i've only died 1 time so far but i'm taking my time. I made it to Chapter 2-2 with about 5hr 30 min of playtime. The only part i died on was in the farm house.

I played up through the end of chapter 1-3 having died only twice, but I felt like I had used up too much specialty ammo like my hand grenades, so I started over.

Is anyone else having difficulty shaking the instinct (created by years of playing the RE series) to conserve as much ammo as possible even though the villagers in RE4 seem to drop some whenever you're running low?

there is no need to conserve ammo. I always have too much ammo.

and if you want to maintain high amounts, shooting them in the knees and slicing with the knife is highly effective

There's certainly no need to conserve handgun ammp. Shotgun shells, however, those I use a bit more sparingly. If I've got a lot of people on me I knock them down with the shotgun and pop a round of rifle bullets into them.

Does anyone know the right brightness for this game? My room is dark anyway, so if I turn the in-game brightness down like on other RE games, I'd still see the colored bars below the red line (even if the lights were off). This game doesn't have the red line at the bottom though. I turned the in-game brightness down to like -10 or more. Now I haven't read or even opened the game's manual, as I don't won't to be spoiled. That's if there's anything in it that could be called one.

And too bad you can't mess with the Sound Effects and Music. In other RE games you could usually turn them down/up seperately. I like having Inverted aim, finally, but it takes getting used to, since on every other RE game, up is up and down is down. Glad you can still use the D-pad also. I think they got the sensitivity, when aiming, right on about. And I'm glad they put the C-stick as you know what once you get that one gun. :) Just like I like it! I use that setup in TimeSplitters 2 GC.

The behind the shoulder camera is a bit weird at first. I don't see why they couldn't have had 2 or so cameras. With one of them being the same as the other games (and no, I don't mean Set Camera Angles since this is fully 3-D). I mean, they could've put one just behind him or ever how the other games had it.

And, by the way, if you've not beat RE 3, this game shows what happens at the end of that (pictures anyway).

no need to conserve shotgun ammo. Rifle ammo is the only one I tend to run low on.

I think I have 70 shotgun shells on me right now

The shotgun is my main weapon, so I usually run very low on ammo. I just have two handguns and the shotgun. Should I get a rifle and a scope, or the uzi type gun?

Most of the trailers/ promos/cover of the game show Leon with his brown leather jacket. Early on in the game he disrobes of his jacket. Without saying, when, how, or under what circumstances, does Leon ever get the jacket back. Just "yes" or "no" would do well.

Because really that is one fine looking jacket!

Oh, yea, its intense. I started playing Mercenaries on Xbox and then switched to RE 4 (never played a RE game before..did like the first movie though) and I've been getting my ass eaten up at that spot too. It's almost embarassing, I've been playing for about two hours and they just keep coming out of nowhere in herds. I need to call in an airstrike on the vilage or something...

Yes, an airstrike would be VERY helpful. These people reproduce like rabbits.

The interesting thing about the first village is how there;s like two different paths it can take.... the disturbing one is when the vilagers get out the chainsaw.

what I did was pick on off from a distance which gets them all riled up to come after me then I head back tot he gate.... once they;re on the path and bunched up together they're a little easier to pick off. they only seem to refresh once but there's a lot of them, maybe 12 or 15 all together, not sure too busy trying to keep my self alive to count!

I was thinking the same thing just wait till you get to the castle.

oh sh*t - its gets worse than 15+ and the guy from Texas Chainsaw massacre trying to take me out? I did finally get past it - had to track down the guide from a guy in my apt. complex to help though.

I've never felt a sense of panic in a game before, but when I got into that house and barricaded the door and they put the ladder up to the window.. I was panicking. I didn't know what to do first.. but I won't spoil anything.

Oh, and there's two things around the beginning of the town. You'll see a well with a thing shining above it. Shoot out the wood, then shoot the shiny thing. One is a pocketwatch, one is.. something else, I forgot, but they sell for $10,000 each. Comes in handy later on.

Yeah, I laughed at the guy with the chainsaw.. until I turned around and he started grinding his chainsaw into my neck and.. pop. I never laughed again.

Joe - The beginning, with the hordes and hordes of villagers, is nothing compared to later on.

My advice for that part.. is as you're getting towards the village.. shoot the crows. Some drop grenades. They come in VERY handy.

Yea, grenades are how I made it through - and just barely - I had no pistol ammo left, one shotgun shell and used both the grenades I had picked up. This has definitely been a lot different than my normal Halo 2/killzone/Ghost Recon 2 routine.

Ran out of pistol ammo? Are you serious? Are you smashing crates and barrels and stuff? Checking inside of stoves, desks, etc? There's pistol ammo EVERYWHERE in the beginning.

After the fight was over I went around the Village and collected a bunch of ammo - like 15 shotgun shells and about 40 handgun. The Homestead Ruins area is now my new worst enemy.
EDIT: Made it past that section! I'm on a roll - its gotten easier as I've gotten used to the GameCube controller (never owned one before)

D'oh! I was just screwing around and I shot a bass or two and used one to refill my health (fully!).......I never thought about trying to sell one!

No worries tho, I have TONS of cash and I just got to Chapter 5 (Disc 2). Boo ya.

I kinda conserve ammo... I noticed that the item placement/spawn from breaking boxes is random, so you can't count on the ammo always being there... plus... I am a horrible aim (yeah... even though there is that laser guide... I just miss alot... :x ) I have been learning to try to shoot people in the legs to slow them down... then combo out with another weapon (ie: gernades or shotgun for multiple hits).

Question: Anyone else feel like we were given a butter knife on this mission? ( Besides using it to open stuff I suck at using this thing! )
