I played about 45 minutes tonight and its awesome. It moves fast and doesn't screw around with too much fluff. It's worth the cost if your a hardcore fan, no doubt. Aria's salty language was worth the cost of admission alone!

We're back fuckers!

Took me about three hours. Good DLC overall, some cool setpieces, and the Omega scenery is very impressive. The final combat encounter was annoying though.

Overall I'd say it was good, but not quite as interesting from a lore or gameplay standpoint as Leviathan was. I wouldn't begrudge anyone waiting until this was on sale for 800 or 560 points.

I played Omega for about 2.5 hours last night and still feel like I have a ways to go to finish this story. Now, I do a fair amount of exploration and sightseeing, so to be fair we could call it 2 hours of gameplay, but I still feel like there must be another hour of content waiting for me.

I am really enjoying it and love seeing more of Omega. I was a little annoyed at some of the glitches (during one scene Aria simply vanishes from one place and re-appears on the other side of the screen) but at no point have I encountered anything that interfered with the experience.

Love getting to know Aria more.

Worth the price for the die-hard fans.

Level 60 Soldier, on Normal. The Cerberus fights were no trouble, but I did appreciate the aggressiveness of the new enemies. Those Rampart mechs get up in your face fast, and the adjutants were worse than banshees. I failed the ending part a couple times by trying to hunker down and fight; I kept getting pinned down by Nemeses and then a couple of adjutants rush you from both sides at once and it's all over. I finally had to ignore the enemies and just flat-out run to the destinations. It felt cheesy but I don't know how else you're supposed to survive.

Anyway I did all of the Renegade dialogue so I'm planning to run through it again with an Engineer to see the Paragon responses.

Yeah the Cerberus guys were usually not a problem, an Atlas shifts it in their favor but I had shield drain as my special. 8-) Those turrets are still a pain but yeah the end that's what I did after I died by getting flanked and shot by annoying simple Cerberus soldiers after I had lost shields from a Nemesis.

Those Rampart Mechs are worthy opponents, as with the adjutants, but with Aria's Carnage hitting after your allies' Overload, it made short work and I had tech bursts all over the place with my Vanguard build.

Ironically their original ME3 review gave the game 10/10 and didn't mention any problems with the ending.

A lot of publications, or I guess media outlets, didn't want to offend Bioware so many did in fact not state anything about the ending in their reviews.

Yup... hedging their bets and waiting to see which way the wind would blow. Though they sure jumped on the bandwagon as soon as it was clear that the fans were unhappy.

I'll give IGN credit, I don't agree with the majority of their writers' stances on the game, particuarly Colin Moriarity, but they've stayed consistent and saying they didn't hate the ME 3 ending, most of them liking it.

$15 for 2-3 hours?! F that. Sale time purchase only.

The only single-player DLC that's been released for over $10 that's been worth it IMO is the Skyrim stuff (Dawnguard from the summer and Dragonborn next week.) I guess the GTA IV stuff was worth the $20 that it was asked for back in 2010 since it was over 10 hours of content also but I didn't like GTA IV.

I may be an internet D-bag, but I have these hard limits of $10 on DLC/downloadable games that you have to be superb for me to go over that limit. For example I've only bought 2 XBLA games at full price this year, Alan Wake: AN and Magic 2013. And I'm someone that "owns" over 100 XBLA games.

Not totally true. A lot of media just made fun of the fan reaction. But with the free Extended Cut looking like an admission of guilt, everyone's clear to bandwagon on, just like with GTA IV and... actually, I don't have any other examples handy.

This is the part where I'd put up that Escapist article explaining why reviewers are hesitant to even talk about that sort of thing in the first place, but... eh. Effort.

Lol sir you have a talent as I too have over 100 XBLA games, hell I've had my 360 since '06 (what I mean is that I don't have the willpower as you stated).
Totally agree Lost & the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony were totally worth it, even better than the core game imo.

I think you miss out though if you go $ = hours of play. I highly enjoyed Arrival, because you were all alone and without your squad (vulnerable) yet that was relatively short.

This is CAG, you're in like minded company. I've reduced my retail game price point to $15. Every time I exceed it, I end up regretting it. $15 for a few hours of DLC? GTFO!

As for the ME3 ending controversy, totally overblown nerd rage. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was stupid (have yet to play the extended cut). Aside from that, the rest of the story in ME3 was pretty great. ME3 had the best combat in the series. The upgrade system hit a sweet spot between the almost missing system of ME2 to the painful to navigate unique ammo upgrade per gun per character in ME1. Plus it has an addictive (if shallow) MP mode. ME3 is the best game in a great series. It deserved the good reviews it got despite its ending.

Well there's talk about the big ol' Powerball yet come to find out that one of the cinemas that is showing the one night theatrical event of Mass Effect: Paragon Lost is literally down the street from me in Greensboro lol. http://masseffectpar....com/screenings

I wasn't loving the previews but those odds right, hmm maybe I should check it out.

Update: Hmm "Tickets are no longer available online. Please check with the box office.", although my order went through.

You know I only have you beat by a few months, got my 360 in Jan. 06. You were one of the first CAG's I met online and friended. I still remember trying to play you online in games and it lagging b/c of the satellite internet and we talked about how my parents in southern IL had that at the time also (it's not gotten much better, they have 4g wireless card now.)

If you get to go, please report back. I loved the Dragon Age one, need to buy the Tales of Vesperia one with XMas money, and hope the ME anime is good, but the lead character worries me.

Lol those were the days, wait a minute no they weren't. Yeah I remember owning in Burnout, because I'm great at racers but they were all complaining about my teleporting car. Ehh they might have had a point there. Because of CAG and Xbox Forums, with a few other sites too, my friend's list is always populated.

Called the place and they said they're going to do a 9 o clock screening too, if I can't get the ticket I paid for online.

Somewhat shameless promotion, but I think it'll add to the conversation.

My first reaction to the ending was "wtf? Something's wrong here." So I immediately hit google despite it being 2am. There are some interesting things said that aligned with my gut feelings, and I discuss them a bit on a podcast I did, Splitkick Spoils Mass Effect 3:

So I was able to get in and this place has the "theater" (it's a guy's personal projector and screen about 4 feet wide or so) in the basement of this coffehouse place. Not a bad place, good vibe and when I left there were two people playing some Street Fighter on the TV.

So seeing that screen and me spending $11 bucks on the ticket online, $1.34 for online fee (although I am grateful I could order last night and get to watch it), didn't get me in a positive mood to start. I got a free T-Shirt though, pics below, in spoiler to save space.
Spoiler

Now about the movie, why do I have to be so into this damn franchise lol, kept laughing or just shaking my head; those Krogans, the proportions used through this movie is baffling at times and the badassery of the Space Marines until they get into you know actual combat, but overall it was enjoyable. However you're gonna ask yourself why the hell did they do a movie on Vega and then again why the hell did they do this after ME3 released. This is also done by the production house behind Ghost in the Shell, one of my favorites, and quite frankly actually it looked like a Saturday morning cartoon show, akin to like watching Dragon Ball Z.

This is a film that bridges the gap of ME2 and ME3 right, well it didn't feel like that (as a lot of things happened made no sense in this regard). It's also said to be written by Bioware but to me they got a lot of things wrong (although one could say it's just another adaptation of the Mass Effect universe). The main trope is it's a story about Vega (and this isn't really a big Mass Effect story, more like a chapter, a forgettable one unfortunately), yeah this and that but bottom line he's a pussy, sorry just an average "grunt". I mean you know what's going to happen because you played Mass Effect 3. If you love animes, then I say yeah go ahead and watch it, but if you don't I'd say only watch it if you're a big Mass Effect fan. If they did this film about Akuze or the Rachni Wars or anything else significant I would have said yeah go for it.

I give it a 3 out of 5 for me. Felt like I got a shotty but decent at times Mass Effect anime film. I liked Dredd 3D more, for a prequel Shepard story or whatever, but I think they're just trying to cash in on the Mass Effect franchise here imo.

Just finished the DLC. Dialogue was good, dynamic between Nyreen and Aria was great. Fantastic set pieces too. Leviathan was chewier for lore, but I liked this DLC better. Took about 2.5 hours. It's an 800 or 960 point DLC max though, not 1200.

Getting the flare and thrash abilities is great though. Will have to make an adept and mix those in for some great detonations.

Finally finished up Omega. Lot of fun, could have been a bit better. I guess I'd rate this somewhere below LotSB and somewhere above Arrival. I liked getting to see more of Omega and getting to interact with Aria, but there was some potential missed with Nyreen and some of the other elements.

Where Leviathan had lots of lore but light action, this was the opposite and I guess that suited me just fine right now.
