Except of you use the gameface program, idk if you've tried it or not, it needs a pretty well lit straight on photo that's clear or it comes out messed up. From my expirience with the kinect, its kind of darker and a bit grainy.

Depends on room lighting

Look, there's no easy way to ask this so I'm just gonna do it...

Does anyone want to be gay lovers with me in Fable 3?

If you say so. But I have used it in a room that was overlit in my opinion, it was clear but it still has that graininess IMO. Still easier to just use a camera phone like someone else said earlier, clearer picture as well.

N8 would have to answer that since the game is so different things may have changed main points. dont go for it on fourth when u know u shouldnt and dont try and glitch. thoughs are the usual dont be a douche rule. but as far as in depth rules like i said n8 will have to speak on that

I think they said they are aiming for every four days to advance. So you'll pm your opponent for that week and set up a time to play within that four day period. Then once the league advances you'll be able to set up your next game and so on. You'll also have new stuff to do each week in the ccm like scouting and practicing.

One thing I hated about playing against randoms last year, almost everytime going for it on 4th I try to play realistically.

My last game online in the early release, I played against the eagles. His offensive strategy was using a 4 te set with two te on each side. He either ran with Vicky or McCoy, which worked because I had to play dime the entire game because the game allowed him to put desean at te. Out of the 7 games I played online this was the only one that was straight cheese the entire game.

looking for a decent WR nothing to amazing just decent if anyone is on the market let me know dont need a number one i already have that in AJ Green who just came off the block

Is that why you asked about Kenny Britt? lol. He's my #1. The Titans are a little thin at WR (or at least they will be until Kendall Wright develops). I don't know if I could move Britt without getting a pretty nice piece (probably on defense) back.

have u picked a start date for the league i was hoping sometime around the 11th-15th :) to let us get a good roster update and that way if i do go i wont miss to much and well i will prolly miss out on FA so that kinda sucks a fat one

As for a start date, it's going to depend on what all that first patch covers. From what I've been reading, there's a lot of broken things with this game. Something about a man coverage glitch when controlling a D-lineman, sliders resetting randomly, schemes not saving. It's too hard to predict too much until we see how this stuff is handled. Just going to have to play it by ear.

well when we played today u didnt even have him on the field so i figured maybe u didnt like him so i thought i would try.

so im guessing start date possibly the 15th of sept maybe a little later becuz patches usually take a little bit the later the better for me :)

also while im gone i hope no one tries to make trades with me and n8 if u could make sure my team doesnt drop good players for some odd reason computer could be dumber than we think

Last year, our advancement was every 4 days. I'm aiming for that again this year...but it's going to depend a bit on the other activities beyond playing the game. Practice, scouting, progression, etc. I'm hoping most people will do that stuff the same day (or before) they play their game. But if it proves to be too much for some reason, we can look at adding a day. I'd really like to keep it at 4 days though. The more seasons we can get through, the more things like drafts and player progression will matter, and the more fun the league will be.

Oh, I didn't even bother looking at my depth chart. Just played the game and threw to who was open...or who I thought was open, lol. The first patch is supposed to be out on 9/11. It's just a question of if it addresses the things we need it to address.

When your gone, just put your team on autopilot. That way, your team won't be vacant, and I would assume the CPU would be less inclined to do anything drastic.

That is a formation in the Panther's playbook. Two TEs, one FB, and one WR is the default setup and it is lethal.

Good point. I guess I'll just keep an eye on the Bengals for you then. I don't want to set the league up until everybody has had a chance to play the game and we can make sure everyone agrees on the settings.

One thing I hated about playing against randoms last year, almost everytime going for it on 4th I try to play realistically.

This is what I posted earlier in the thread (with a few important additions).

Playstyles and General Policies

A lot of this SHOULD go without saying, but yeah...it's better to be specific. In general, the rule is "Play like a real NFL coach would". This means you don't go for 4th downs on your end of the field. This applies until you get to the point that you think "If I don't make something happen now, this game is over." If you're losing 28-0 in the 2nd quarter, and have a 4th and 8 at your 46 yard line...it's not unreasonable to feel like you're at that point.

The flip side of that, say you don't convert the 4th down, your opponent is free to play however he wants in the 1st half. If he scores to go up 35-0 at halftime, he can feel free to put it in cruise control and run out the rest of the game. He might throw on 3rd down to keep the chains moving, but he shouldn't be airing it out with that big of a lead. That's exactly how an NFL coach would play it. I've always said, if you have a lead in the 2nd half, your objective should be to get the game over with as quickly as possible. That's what happens on Sunday. Running up the score will not be tolerated.

Two Point Conversions

Two point conversions should not be attempted unless you're in a situation where the 2 points would bring you to within one score or tie the game if you're losing, or would reasonably solidify a small lead if you're winning (ie. If you're up 47-42, there's no difference between a 5 point lead and a 6 point lead, so you might as well go for 2).

If you're in a situation at the end of the game where an extra point would tie it, but a 2 point conversion would win it...that's your call. I've seen NFL coaches go both ways with it. If your opponent's offense/defense has been hot all day and you're nervous about playing for overtime, it's your call. But if you're curious about scoring the first TD of the game and going for a 2 point conversion...yeah...not allowed.

Scrambling QBs

Running with the QB is generally ok. But there are certain strategies where it is cheap. You shouldn't be calling 5 wide streaks just so you can pull the defenders deep and then immediately take off running with the QB. That's cheesy as hell and is basically trying to game the system. If you see your opponent dropping 8 men back into coverage, and there's just nowhere to throw the ball, of course, you can take off. The other issue is sprinting backward 20 yards with your QB out of the snap. That's also not a realistic example of a "running QB" (though I thought I read that QB drops were automatic this year...I haven't tested holding RT out of the snap in the demo to find out though). In general, the "play like a real NFL coach" rule applies here too.

Sportsmanship

Another thing I want to add, NO SHOWBOATING. This is the Gentlemen's League afterall. Have respect for your opponent and act like you've been there before. Yes, it might be cool to flip into the endzone and see all the cool little animations, but save it for offline. In a friendly league where people just want to have a good time, rubbing in the fact that you scored on somebody just isn't cool and just causes tension.

Hopefully that gives a better idea of where this league stands on certain issues. Feel free to ask any questions you still have though.

Has anyone heard anything on if the strategy guide is worth getting? Keep in mind I practically know nothing about pre-play adjustments, etc. All I know about related to those are that you can flick the right stick to flip the running play direction, and that I can push X to bring up some quick audibles in case someone does a no huddle. I have tried experimenting with O-Line shifts in the past, but it seems as if they have always never done anything. For example, I choose pinch, and I still get sacked immediately after the snap for a play action (which happens every single time I pick a play action, no matter if I try an O-Line shift or not).

If you're talking about play actions in past Madden games, yeah...it was never a good play. The defense never bit on the fake the way they should have. That's been fixed this year. Play action has been very effective so far this year, both for me and against me, haha.

Overall though, if you feel like you have a long ways to go with learning the game, then I can't imagine that the strategy guide would hurt (plus it would give you some good bathroom reading). A lot of the veterans in this league are more than happy to share advice though.

Personally, I shift my line more on defense. Occasionally I'll move my offensive line, but it's such a cat and mouse game of giving away too much about your play, sometimes it isn't worth it. Learning your audibles well, and having multiple plays that you can run out of the same formation (so you're not switching from I formation to a 3 wide shotgun set, making it obvious that you audibled from a run play to a pass play) will help you a lot.

I've been playing a lot of NCAA 13, and EA finally got the play action plays right. They're deadly in the right situation, as opposed to getting gangbanged by three guys immediately after faking the handoff to the HB in past games.

I went ahead and updated the OP with the proposed settings and general rules and policies for the league. Until we get started, these are open for discussion. After we get started though, they will be locked in unless there is an extreme need to change something. Everybody should take a look at them to get a better idea of how this league will function and what will be expected of you.

Couldn't agree more. I always think it's funny how some people won't acknowledge how broken a feature was until it's finally done right (happening a lot in the NHL series this year). The fact that you could have 300 yards rushing in a game, but then if you went to a play action, the defender would just somehow know that the QB still had the ball was ridiculous. Feels so much better this year, and compliments the running game perfectly...like it's supposed to.

YAY! Madden's here! :bouncy:
