I'm passing as I'm just now playing through the GC version and think that, while good, it's far from the "best game ever" hype many put on it. An 8.0/10 at best for me (at Ch. 5-1 currently).[/QUOTE]
You don't hear that a lot. I went into RE4 as someone who played the first RE and then didn't give a shit about the rest--not a big RE or even gaming horror fan, in other words. The game blew me away, and it's still probably the last great game I played.
I think the pricing, the updates, and the little bit of extra content is spot on. So many people bitch "OMG GC port" when they see this, SPM, LoZ:TP, etc. While I can see that with both SPM and TP, as they feel to me like GC titles at heart, I don't get it with RE4. The game exceeded the GC so much that it felt like it was booting itself up, like the RE4 game disc had its own CPU, GPU, etc. It's almost like Capcom was pushing the game for the "next GC," and I'm glad that they came out with something for the Wii.
Provided that there are updates, content, and spiffy prices involved, I'd be happy to rebuy some of my GC titles ported to the Wii. A lot of people hate it, but Luigi's Mansion for the Wii could be a nice pickup with a $25 price tag and some extras. There are a number of GC titles that would polish nice for the Wii: that is, new graphics, controls, added content, budget price would make them very attractive. I'm hoping RE4 sets a great precedent.
