I was just in the too much Final Fantasy discussion and people were mentioning these great Squenix games that have never been released here or need sequels. It got me thinking on which games really need a sequel. The only ground rule here is the game needs to be at least last generation (PSOne, DC, N64, GBC) or older. Ill start by adding

Crystalis (SNK game now owned by Nintendo)
Chrono Trigger
Panzer Dragoon Saga

Anyone else have anything to add?

psi ops ( if you played it you know why.

kingdom hearts 1( yeah i know there was a part 2 but i think a game as great as kh 1 deserves a real sequel and not some shallow kiddie game.

tenchu ( every version of the game has gotten worse so instead of your basic story mode id like to see the game done as an online game where you compete with other ninjas and samurais in big worlds to steal items, assinate people ect. itd be cool to work for the side of the govt as well as against it cutting deals taking jobs and building a reputation for yourself. but to do that youd need a deeper hand to hand as well as weapons combat system and alot fo create a character options.)

id also liek to see horse battles and fully destructable environments and scenery and the ability to just be a towns person.

Chrono Trigger has a sequel already Chrono Cross.

Wait so how would you describe KH1, fun game and all but lets be truthful.

Princess Crown and Legend of Dragoon come to mind as games I would like to see a sequel for, or Splater House 4 would be great as well.

Note: Odin Sphere is not a sequel to Princess Crown.

New Super Mario Bros. -- More, new, 2D Mario on the DS? Yes please.

Electroplankton -- I'd like to see a sequel or a version of this toy hit the Wii.

i guess i should hv specified in the level of challenge between the 2 games kh 1 was more challenging and the worlds were more of a joy to explore and see. kh2 you could blow through it on hard mode without any real skill or tactics. the grim reaper in kh 1 is harder than any boss or mini boss in kh 2.

I would say Beyond Good and Evil. It was a game that ended and left you wanting more. I would also like ot see a sequal to Body Harvest cuz you can never get enough of blowing up huge bugs with over 100 different vehicles. Blast Corps would be another cuz you can never grow tired of destroying stuff with lots of vehicles. Someone said Crystalis.... I so agree dude!

KOTOR 1 & 2 (xbox)
Reason the first two were great games and with the 360 they could probably do some great things

Star Wars Jedi Power Battles (DC and PS1)
Reason: The game was great and again with the new consoles you could add tons of enemys, improve the graphics, and add tons of force powers and combos.

Star Wars BattleFront 1 & 2 (Xbox, PS2)
Reason: Newer consoles could add tons of more enemys

Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Reason: So that we can finally play it online over XBL

Project Snowblind
Reason: Single player was great

New Star Wars Battlefront was announced. Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron.....BUT this one is exclusive to the PSP.

they should make a sequel to ICO for the PS3 or 360. that would be awesome.

Ico and Yorda could explore that new island they end up on and they could change the combat system a little so it isn't so... tame.

man the possibilites are endless with that one. slick new graphics, improved physics and mocap, and most importantly the designs and environments... oh that would be so awesome

also a sequel to Shadow of the Colossus also for PS3/360. better story, mocap, graphics, framerate and something inbetween the colossi fights besides just riding your horse. man they could make that SO good. and i want one fight where the colossi is SO big that you can ride your horse ON it

i hope i hope :bouncy:

Maybe this was mentioned over in the other thread, but I'll say it anyway (and until I'm blue in the face): VAGRANT STORY.

That game had a good story, great localization, awesome atmosphere and concept, deep gameplay, and tons of replay value. Was it for everyone? No. Was it one of the best PS1 games around? Yes.

Oh, and the final chapter of Shenmue. That game's giving me some narrative blue balls. Just tell us how it ends already, Yu!

I'd really like a KOTOR 3, and Civilization V. what I'd love though is another Escape Velocity game (so long as it made it to Windows again).

I could go for another Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle kind of shindig, sprite based on the DS.

Yes, I know how unlikely that is.

Secondarily I would say Skies of Arcadia, but FF:CC for Wii seems to be slowly absorbing some elements

Super Mario Bros.

The forgettable, unremarkable NEW Super Mario Bros. just doesn't cut it.

The level "designer" should be slain.

Silent Bomber PS1. Still one of my favorite games. I was really glad to see the Crystalis reference. Just a reminder that they did rerelease it on GBC if anyone has a gameboy and wants to try it out.

Beetle Adventure Racing needs a sequel. It's one of my favorite racing games, and I just loved the great course designs. I hope BAR shows up on the Virtual Console soon.

I want a real sequel to Chrono Trigger. I wasn't happy with Chrono Cross, besides the amazing music.

I don't necessarily want a sequel to Hotel Dusk since the game pretty much wrapped up the story, but I want the developer to make more adventure games similar to Hotel Dusk, maybe even set in the same world with different character (along with one or two returning characters just to make the fans happy).

We need Capcom to make a Resident Evil spin off series based on the Resident Evil 4 engine for the Wii, while continuing the main series on the 360 and PS3.

Star Trek Legacy was a decent game that needs a sequel if the developers can fix the issues the first game had. While the sequel could continue having all Trek eras, they should really focus on the Dominion Wars and have most of the missions based on DS9.

Skies of Arcadia is begging for a sequel, even if it's a Final Fantasy style sequel with a new world a characters. However, I don't want to see the current Sega develop a new SoA because they would most likely screw it up.

I love the Vigilante 8 series on the N64, and I can't wait for the XBLA version to show up. The developer needs to stop making the stupid True Crime games and make Vigilante 8 3.

Sony needs to make another War of the Monsters game. The first one was amazing, I would imagine that a sequel on the PS3 would be even better.

I clicked on this thread for the sole purpose of nominating this game. I want a sequel goddammit!

I miss Streets of Rage. I didn't like 3 much. I still think 2 was the best. If it ever happens, I hope Yuzo Koshiro comes back and makes more music. I wouldn't mind a sequal to Dragon Force, or Shining Force. These PS2 Shining games suck octopus balls!

Beyond Good and Evil

It still is one of my favorite games and in my opinion, vastly underrated. Also the way it ended...well I want to see what happens next

yeah id totally be into a new streets of rage game especially if the peopel who did the music for the first ones were involved in it. question is though would it be 3d and if so could you pull off the same quality of action in 3d or would it have to be a side scroller ?

Skies of Arcadia
Twisted Metal (Would be great to see with todays graphics)
Dungeon Keeper (We need a third! But EA ate Bullfrog)
Legend of the Dragoon
Shining Force (SRPG!)
Battletoads (Beat'em Ups seems rather rare these days)

That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure I'm missing a lot. :p

I think we need more 2d games overall, so most of my selections will be 2d games.

Castle Crashers; the world needs more 2d beat em ups

Shadow Dancer; a good series that could compete with Ninja Gaiden. Sega needs to use its bread and butter. I don't know if this game could stay 2d, but I'd love to see a sequel no matter where they take it.

Guilty Gear Judgement - this game is a gem, it fills a genre (2d beat em ups) that's been lost.

Gitaroo Man - I'd love to play this game using the Guitar Hero controller. gitaroo man had good music

Motorstorm the game reminds of me Super off road, more cars, tracks, vary up the landsape,

Streets of Rage; remakes, whole new set... I'll take anything.

I agree wholeheartedly. And no, FF12 does not count.

Another game that I would love to see get a sequel is Soldiers of Fortune: The Chaos Engine by The Bitmap Brothers. Sure, there is technically a sequel, but it is too different from the original.

I appreciate it who ever made my point that Chrono Trigger needs a sequel. Nothing against Chrono Cross (which I didn't like, but most people did), it felt too different and even with the stroy elements did not "feel" like Chrono Trigger, just as people will say that Final Fantasy VIII, X, XI and (to a lesser extent) XII didnt feel like a Final Fantasy. That was the great thing about IX, it felt like an actual sequel and why I love XII so much, even though it is a little to radical of a change gameplay wise. XII started out in its intro with the Final Fantasy theme, and showing all the Final Fantasy standbys that "certified" it as a "classic" Final Fantasy in the sense of story and plot elements and music.

chrono cross didn't have that original crono trigger artwork....

Even though Capcom disbanded Clover, I'd like to at least see another Viewtiful Joe. Viewtiful Joe 2, much like the 1st game, ended on a cliffhanger(hinting VJ3 will be the last act). They need to do another one to finish the trilogy.

I second another Skies of Arcadia, that's the only RPG in the past 5 years that I could get into.

I'd also like to see a next gen Mech Assault & Crimson Skies on the 360.

I don't think it would. But just imagine if they kept the same camera angel, but had the graphics not photo realistic, but cell shaded. With todays tecjnology, that shit would look rediculous!

I want sequels to the follow games PLEASE:

Advent Rising : sure it has some weird controls, but I haven't had such fun with a game in a long time...awesome story too

Project Snowblind: please make a sequel to this! If you haven't played it, GET IT now! Still hoping MS makes it 360 Backward compatable.

Otogi 1+2 : these games were beautiful and like watching an art show.

Okami: for the same reason we need more Otogi. This might be one of the biggest injustices in gaming history

Iron Soldier : yeah its obscure and yeah it started on the Jaguar..but its good Mech fun!

Just Cause: they need to make a sequel...just cause!

Ikaruga : either you have played it and love it, or you are out in the cold.

Phantasy Star Online : a TRUE sequel...dont like those PS Universe folks anywhere NEAR the drawing board for this either.

God Hand: fix the controls while you are at it, but keep all the humor and coolness

Crimson Skies: this game is DYING for a 360 update

Mech Assault: also needs a 360 Update

Zone Of Enders

Dragon Quest Rocket Slime - Shouldn't be too hard to whore out. Simple, very fun and great mechanics that scream for wifi.

Baten Kaitos - Because Origins ruined the battle system which was every reason the game was so great to begin with.

Secret of Mana - Amazing how it's been ten years and several attempts and square still can't get it right.

uniracers - If you don't know why this deserves and needs a sequel, stop gaming now.

Blast Corps - See uniracers

Phantom Brave - The best NIS strategy game.

Shadow of The Colossus - On Wii with kick ass sword controls, or even on PS3 or 360. This game would single handidly make me buy either one.

Doesn't necessarily have to be a sequel (though there is one coming) but I want some copycats.

Resident Evil 4

The control was great, so why haven't we seen copycats? I guess Cold Fear was that type but not exactly the same since you only were over the shoulder when aimed if Im remembering correctly, plus that game wasn't any good.

ive said this a number of times. capcom needs to take the re 4 engine and rerelease all previous re games using it. keep alot of the basic storylines and plots intact but add more action faster moving zombies in masses. re 3 would especially work well with this since it was an action game at heart anyway. and imagine fighting nemesis in re 4 style. you could easily sell these games at full price if done right and not just sloppy rehashes. or be generous and release them all together in a collectors pack. either way the re 4 engine would do all of those games amazing justice.

Bust a Groove 1 & 2 (Bust a Move: Dance Summit 2001 doesn't count because it changed the gameplay, characters, and was never released in America.)

Those two are my favorite games for the PS1, and it kills me to think these will never get continued, especially with Enix being bought by Square. These games were miles ahead of DDR, with awesome characters, stages, and songs.

Bust A Groove 1 and 2 used a dance pad? I thought they were just button pressers.

The 2nd one had a mode where all you used was the directionals, so it was possible to use a dance pad. And if you were really good (Well, actually godly:lol:), you could play the 1st one with a dance pad.

Mystical Ninja starring Geomon(N64)

That game was so fucking Awesome!

Its a real shame Konami has not released any Mystical Ninja games outside of Japan since.

A next-gen sequel or even just a remake of the N64 game would rule!

EDIT: seeing the above poster's Avatar made me want to add that we really need a new Parappa or Um Jammer Lammy game bad!

Crimson Skies - This game proves that flight games are fun, even if you don't have waggle control. Great colors and graphics (especially the dusk levels), Intuitive flight controls using the two analog sticks to pull off some sweet moves, and some of the best CG cut scenes and voice acting this side of the Pacific.
