From 1UP:
As part of an interview at this year's Tokyo Game Show, Team ICO leader Fumito Ueda took time to answer a few questions provided by the 1UP community, and the most popular of these was whether we might see his games ICO and Shadow of the Colossus released on PlayStation 3 in a combo pack similar to Sony's upcoming God of War Collection.

When asked, Ueda said he's all for the idea, and that he'd like to play the games on PS3 (as well as on PSP). "Initially, I didn't want to consider that," he pointed out. "I always thought they were designed for PS2 and should stay there. But lately, I've been thinking it would be nice to provide the games to other platforms to reach more users."

Ultimately, however, it seems that a re-release would need support from Sony executives. Presumably the same ones that decided to release the God of War Collection after hearing a lot of support for the idea from fans online, so if you want to see ICO and Shadow of the Colossus in HD, now would be the time to start talking up the idea.
So Ueda is down. Now we just need to coerc. . .convince Sony as well. ;)

EDIT: Things are getting interesting!
Next week, I'll have a meeting [about the possibility] ... But it might not be so easy, because, with both titles we really stretched the limits of the PS2. It's complex. So it's not such an easy transfer to the PS3. But I want to discuss it.
A less than easy conversion means additional development time, so it can really go either way. It would certainly be profitable, but will really come down to how much time and effort is required. It can really go either way, so fingers crossed!

Releasing those games as part of the new download service that's coming for PS2 games seems like a good idea. I hope something happens to bring them back.

I saw this too... he has repeated this in several interviews at TGS. I would love to see it and hope it happens. I just want the same game in HD, hopefully Sony can make this happen.

It's a cool idea but I hope they don't muck it up with trophies or trying to tack on messy HD graphics. Just leave the games as they are known. As usual for me and these remakes, I have little use for them because I own and completed the originals years ago. But for anyone who hasn't, hopefully these will come to PSN in time to support Last Guardian.

How do you feel about the God of War 1 and 2 re-release on blu-ray? Added trophies and upscaled.

I think if that works out in terms of sells, then I think other titles could see the same thing happening. ICO and SoC would be a perfect fit if you ask me for the same treatment.

id gladly buy these and play them with improved graphics (even if its just slightly improved) with widescreen support 720p (like GoW). trophies, wouldnt care one way or the other.

but whats this about inflated ICO prices...

If you already have the games and have no interest in a re-release why would you care what they add to the game? Shadow in particular could do with a nice overhaul to the graphics if nothing else just to improve the framerate. Why leave something broken in a re-release if you have the opportunity to correct it ? We're not talking about changing the fundamentals or anything else about the game, simply correcting something that couldn't be corrected on the initial hardware.

As far as trophies if they did add them in, it's not as if anyone who plays the game would HAVE to go for all the trophies. In my opinion, if you are going to re-release a game there should be something there to make it worthy of getting the re-release to begin with.

I'd pay full price just to play Shadow of the Colossus in 480p at 60 FPS. Or even 30. :) I love that game but the slowdown was such a tragedy.

I know they can easily run Shadow of the Collosus at 720p at 60 FPS on a PS3. They might have to do a few tweaks here and there, but they can do it. Of course they may upgrade the textures and keep it at 30 FPS, 720p, with motion blur.

Pretty much the same way. Maybe I can get a copy when I find it used for under $20, but the improvements aren't worth the money if I've already completed the games. I mean a few extra trops might be ok if I had time to mess around, but I've too much of a backlog to replay games for a while. And I'm always against HD. It's a waste of time and money for no gain in gameplay. I think it messes up the classic feel.

Yes. YES. None of this "PS2 on PSN" crap. I want the full games, upscaled to at least 720p. fuck trophies. These games need to be played regardless.

How easy it can be done depends on what language it was written in...

God of War 1 and 2 were written in C so that made it pretty simple (comparatively speaking)

wowwwwwwww if they do this like the god of war package and upscale it and add trophies day 1 buy..shitttttt,even if they only upscale em,day 1 buy.

I don't think it'll be easy as setting the video output to 720p for both games. They have to go back to original source art and input the higher resolution textures. Please make Ico widescreen!

Sony may re-realese Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts: COM on PS3 around Kingdom Hearts 3 coming out Next year!

is Kingdom Hearts: COM like 2.5

I can just imagine playing SotC in 720p right now...this needs to happen!
is Kingdom Hearts: COM like 2.5
If your talking about it's chronological order, it's set between 1 and 2. So it's more like 1.5 if you want to put it that way.
