How do you get your TV?

I'm curious as to how many channels On-Air can get. Can I get details.

Currently I have Comcast :(
Looking to eventually get rid of that

I only have 9 that I consider "HD". 3 of those 9 are pretty worthless since the content on them are so bad.

So far I can only get seven, but I have a crap antenna. I can probably get more if I get a better antenna. I get ABC, Qubo, The CW, ION, ION Life and a couple of religious stations.

Other than WWE Raw and ESPN I can see every other show I usually watch on Netflix or Hulu.
On-air for me. Honestly, I get enough content with Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and my DVDs that I really don't miss cable.
is the truth in this day and age if you have a fast internet connection and a good pc/laptop you dont really need cable.

No cable.

I don't watch regular free TV.

Everything else is a combination of internet downloads and DVDS. The DVDS...some I purchase, but many are free checkouts courtesy of my public library.

Cable. Basic cable is included in my rent, so I just pay for the HD upgrade. The selection of HD channels isn't particularly good, but the service includes a DVR.

Cable. Have to have it (or satellite--cable best price with internet for me currently) for sports. I watch a lot of shows, but could wait and rent them (or watch online).

Hulu and Netflix Instant Streaming. Only TV I regularly watch through traditional methods is Dexter because I happen to have a friend that gets premium cable, so we watch that every Sunday night.

LOL, I should have added...we go down to a local bar for the big games. Although I could see that getting really expensive (or us becoming alcoholics) if we had to watch alot of games.

cable. I have a triple play package with Cablevision....so it was cheaper to add cable..and I need my MLB Network. Just po'ed that they dont have the NFL Network.

Yep, I tried that for a while a few months back. Ended up spending more a month than cable.

I've got a great deal since moving anyway. $68 total (taxes and everything) for full cable (digital and basic) with HD, HBO and HD-DVR and 12 MBPS internet.

Basically TV delivered over broadband. It's nice. Even when recorded 2 HD streams and watching an SD channel, I still get 7-8mbps speed.

Internet Protocol television (IPTV) is a system through which digital television service is delivered using the architecture and networking methods of the Internet Protocol Suite over a packet-switched network infrastructure, e.g., the Internet and broadband Internet access networks, instead of being delivered through traditional radio frequency broadcast, satellite signal, and cable television (CATV) formats.

I've been without cable for the 7 months since I moved out of my parent's house. This is the longest I've ever gone without cable in my life but I've gotta make some savings somewhere. Its not too bad, I mostly watch TV on DVD these days but damn would I kill for some Discovery or History channel about now...

Cable, because it's included with the rent. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't bother with TV, as I don't watch it enough to justify it.

Hulu most, pirate what I can't get through Hulu

Had cable all of my solo life (~5 years) until about a year ago, Hulu's better (fewer commercials, all on-demand) and cheaper (~$80 cheaper).. win/win

I want to switch to DirecTV, Charter is pathetic all around (the bundles bullshit and hardware pricegouging) and their HD offerings are like table scraps compared to DirecTV. So you pay a shitload more for all the requirements to watch HD with the DVR option and get far less than the competition. I need to convince the people I live with to drop Charter and tell them to eat shit and die when they ask why we're canceling our service.

Cable, but mostly just Netflix and Hulu. I only get cable because basic is included in my rent and it's only like $5 a month to make it digital.

Cable. My dad uses it a lot more than I do.

All I use it for is sports. Otherwise, I'll just use Hulu or DL it and stream it to my TV.

I have cable, mainly for sports.

But TBH, I still 'obtain' things I could watch, simply because those shows aren't available in HD with my shittacular Comcast service.

I have basic cable for the networks (in case there's a hurricane or other weather alert), and because it's only about 4 bucks more getting basic+broadband as it is getting broadband by itself.
I watch things either on Hulu, the network website, or on DVD.

Off the air, but I loved it when I had DirectTV HD, everything was so crisp.
Plus I had the HDNet channel. I really miss that channel. :(

We've got cable- I don't watch a lot of TV and usualy just have it on for time killing for background noise- which I prefer to do with stations like Food Network, Discovery, Travel, History... not so much the regular stations.

Cable. I called them up several months ago with intentions of canceling my service due to poor customer service and signal issues. They really did not want me to go. I pretty much gave them my own price, saying I'll stay if you knock off half of my monthly bill plus I wanted a refund for some pay-per veiws that had bad signals. They agreed. It's funny how they become helpful when you want to quit.

Yep. If you're not happy with your price. Just call and threaten to cancel and they'll make you some pretty good offers.
doesn't that piss you off?

that'd piss me off
Meh, I dunno how much it affects the rent. There are cheaper places around here that don't include cable, but they're also shittier, so it's hard to compare...

Same. I find the rent here very reasonable given how nice the place is, even if I didn't want cable.

We finallly got DirecTV and got rid of Comcast a few months ago. I like it cause you get a lot more channels for lesser amount. But we will see how well it does during the winter.

I voted on-air because that's how I get half my tv. The other half is unencrypted QAM. I have a hdhomerun dual tuner network device and watch it through my xbox 360 as a media center extender (on my projector in living room and 32" lcd in bedroom.) Honestly we rarely watch live tv and don't record much either. We mostly watch movies and tv shows on Netflix disc and instant.

I get over the air reception from rabbit ears to an hd tuner card in my Windows 7 Media Center PC which then goes to my living room and bedroom 360s. I use em as a DVR. I also have PlayOn for Hulu streaming to my 360s. That gets us our Daily Show and Colbert Report.

I went over to my father in laws place and turned on Discovery and was really loving the programming. He walks in and goes "I've seen that show like 10 times. They keep running the same shows".

That's the problem. There's not enough new content to make me pay for it, but a monthly sample is perfect.
