HWOOD VIDEO / GAME CRAZY Stores Closing!

So they are just closing more stores? It amazes me the shitty hole in the wall one near me has survived this long.
Lost my job over this nonsense. Smile all you want, but there's a large portion of people that this really sucks for.
Good luck on your job search MirrIll. Its sad a lot of stores are closing and people who are on this site are losing their jobs. But if anyone are looking for more information, it is being discussed at length on the official hwv deal and gamecrazy threads.

That's weird.. they're still listing 3 stores in my city when there's only two left. We had four but two of them closed a few months ago.

This doesn't surprise me. I used to be a manager at a Hollywood Video a few years back. The people at corporate had their heads up their asses as far as running these stores.

I don't get it, does it show on the map which stores are closing, or are you just linking to that so people can find the ones in their area and call around?

I hope mine doesn't close!

It appears my closest store is closing. Anybody know what kind of deals are going on? I'd check it out tomorrow but we're about to get pummeled with snow.

It sucks that HWV is closing while Blockbuster is still open. HWV was a pretty good movie rental store the times I went to it.

The movie gallery near me is still open, though I would guess theyre struggling a bit. HMV stores here in Canada are still going strong as far as I can tell, but they do not have rental service like in the US.

My curiosity got the best of me (and it might be next week before we defrost) so I just went.

Games at my store were 20% off whatever the price is in the computer. They weren't marked, so you had to ask them to scan it.

A lot of older Xbox and PS2 titles were fairly cheap, under $15. I picked up some rarer titles.

They did not have the catalog movies on sale yet but said they would be on sale in the next couple of days. I'm sure they have some OOP DVDs in there somewhere.

My haul:
Prices are after 20% discount. For the "computer price," multiply by 1.25.
Playboy PS2 $12
Suikoden IV $4
Yakuza $10.40
Predator PS2 $10.40
Digimon Rumble Arena 2 PS2 $6.40
Star Wars Jedi Knight Xbox $8
Wario Ware Smooth Moves $24
Zack & Wiki $10.40

Checked price on but did not buy:
Fire Emblem Wii $35
Donkey Kong Barrel Blast ~$30
Super Mario Galaxy $35
Mario Strikers Wii $30
The (great) Evansville store is closing, and the (crappy) Morganfield store is staying open. There is no justice in the world.
I didn't even know there was one in M'field.

I ran over to the E'Ville store last night after finding out - just to discover they close at 8 now. :( I got there about 8:30.

Was talking to a really nice chick in the HWV side. Trying to get info without trying to be a jerk (because, you know, she's losing her job and all, and I'm like some kind of vulture picking away at her bones... I do feel bad...) She mentioned that they had shipped out all the good stuff (like $30,000 worth of inventory). I tried peeking through the fence, but didn't notice much.

20% off all games
6 for $20 on $4.99 or less titles.

On the HWV side of things, they said the rental games probably won't go for another four weeks and the fixtures at about the same time (really want a shelf...)

It really sucks - the GC was leaps and bounds beyond the three GameStops there in Evansville. :(

When you do a search, the info boxes below the map for the closing stores will have a red 'closing' message in them.

I just checked to make sure none of our local stores are closing... I like our Gamecrazys, I don't want them to go! (Looks to be OK, though... the only one close enough to visit, I don't ever go to.)

Wow, 4 out of 8 are closing within 30 miles. I don't even think I've seen more than 2 stores myself. I'll have to go exploring on my next day off.

thanks duellady

looks like my local one's not closing, which is good because I really like my GC, even if they did deny me my Lego Star Wars CS penny guide last week.
Oh, wow! I wish we had threads where all of this information and more was conveniently located.. oh, wait

on the hwood video site it said my local one is closing but the guy said they wont be doing deals for another week

It's pretty sad when people value paltry deals on usually incomplete video games vs. people having employment and a means to live. It's games for 10% off with hybrid Hollywood Video covers NOT gold people.
