Dreamcast Collection Xbox 360 Game SEGA $29.99 Newegg

Can I buy just Space Channel 5 Part 2 for $5?! What the heck, I'll just plug my DC back to play all those games again. No need to waste more money since I have them all on DC.

I smell an addition to the XBLA games on disc list. Not sure if all of them are on XBLA but I know Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure are.

yeah I believed they announced SC5 and Bass Fishing would be coming to XBLA/PSN.

Not too enthused with this set, but I feel like I probably have to buy it in order to get more compilations, preferably one with Jet Grind Radio.
Not worth the price, they could have made the collection so much better.
Agreed, this is a very weak assortment.

Worst Dreamcast Collection EVAR ...

add Powerstone or Skies of Arcadia ... or Spawn (just because I always wanted that game, even if it sucks)

Speaking of sucking .. yeah, what the hell happened to SEGA ...

This is no different from the compilation discs released for other games on XBLA, guys. This is mainly an alternative to getting the games, should you not have the space on your hard drive to store them (Dreamcast games can be about 1GB each), plus it's cheaper to get them on disc than separately. There's also going to be a PC release (retail and digital distribution), so this gives PC gamers a chance to jump in as well. Oddly, a PS3 release is missing.

Honestly, expecting them to release other games on disc that aren't on XBLA or PSN is rather silly. They did say they have about 20ish Dreamcast games lined up for release this year.

Power Stone and Spawn weren't made by Sega nor does Sega own them. Expecting third party games in a Dreamcast collection by Sega is like expecting Sony to release a Pokemon Collection on the PSP. Hell, even Sega's had to repeat themselves on Twitter about how they do not own Power Stone.

Why is there no PS3 version? Despite the lackluster assortment of games, I will pick up this collection once it hits the bargain bin.

The point here is the crappy selection of games. These are really weak, considering that the Dreamcast had tons of great games. I hate it when they release compilations and then include garbage titles in the mix, which is what is happening here. I LOVE the Dreamcast, own tons of games for it and plenty of DC systems, but looking at this pitiful, lame collection, I'm pretty disgusted. They need to release some A1 titles in this kind of compilation, not the junk listed here. FAIL.

bah... I wish they would put in the games that I actually care about....

Check that... I wish Capcom would just release all of their arcade games on Xbox Live. Sigh... =/

How bout Jet Set ... anything ... on a modern console then :p

Man I didn't even know Space Channel 5 was coming to XBLA! Anyone know when it's coming out on XBLA? I already own Sonic Adventure, so $30 for those 3 other games doesn't strike me too interesting, especially with a game about fishing.

As I mentioned, they're not going to release games on disc that aren't on XBLA/PSN. And since when was Crazy Taxi or Space Channel 5 garbage?

If it's any consolation, Capcom's working on Street Fighter III Third Strike in HD with online play.

I'm still waiting on that, myself. :( Some French third party group wanted to make a new game for the Wii, but Sega declined, mainly because it wouldn't be developed by them.

Should be out later this month. And you'd be surprised how Sega Bass Fishing is actually...fun, considering it's a fishing game. But then again, the lack of a fishing rod controller takes away from the experience. It's like playing Samba de Amigo with just the standard Dreamcast controller.
Where's Shenmue and Typing of the Dead? :(
Shenmue's a big game that spanned three GD-ROM discs. No telling if it would fit with very many other games, even with a Dual Layer DVD. And Typing of the Dead would have a definite NEED for a keyboard. Though porting it to the PC again would be wonderful.

This is one of the worst "collections" I've ever seen and have been disappointed since it was revealed a while ago.

Two of the games are already available on XBL, one of the games nobody cares about, and the other game is an extreme niche game. Terrible terrible

I already have Crazy Taxi and Crazy Taxi, plus Sonic Adventure DX for the PC. I also have Typing of the Dead and Virtua Tennis. I had Sega Bass Fishing and Sega Marine Fishing, but they wouldn't run on Windows 7. They should add Super Monkey Ball (Naomi, would have been released on the DC if not for its premature death), Sonic Adventure 2, Sega Marine Fishing, Samba de Amigo, Crazy Taxi 2 and 18-Wheeler American Pro Trucker. And Virtua Tennis 1 and 2 to boot.

All four games are going to be on XBLA/PSN. They're not releasing anything exclusively on disc. The target audience is likely those who have a 360 with very little space on their hard drives (or even lack of one).

im down because of sega bass fishing also really nice since the dreamcast is one of my altime favorite systems and I dont have it where im stationed atm wish it had jet set though
I'll buy if this version of Crazy Taxi has Offspring in it.
It probably won't. It's probably the exact same version as XBLA.

I like the idea of a Dreamcast Collection, but this assortment is not for me.

May I ask why Sega is releasing Space Channel 5 Part 2 first, not the original Space Channel 5 (Part 1)?

Sega, I am still waiting on my Saturn Collection....
This "collection" is nothing more then a cash grab by Sega. It's an insult to Dreamcast fans.
Its just a disc version of the current DC games they released on XBLA/PSN, and its cheaper! Normally you see people complaining about how they'd rather have downloadable game on a disc, and now that there is one everyone complains? I can perhaps understand people being disappointed that this isn't anything on the scale of Sonic's Ultimate Gen Collection, but it seems like a nice deal for folks who held off on downloading these games and maybe want a physical copy.

That's a pretty weak collection there, unlike their Genesis collection which was amazing. I can't believe they didn't toss more stuff on there. The Dreamcast was a CDROM based device, right? That means on a 7 gig dvd disk (because drm takes up the other space) they could have put 14 games. They should have done that, charged $40, and made more money. That's the only way I would have bought this "collection". As is, I'm maybe interested in only one game on there.

It's only a good deal if you want all of those games. That's about 5 people. That's an eclectic range of games there. I don't see too many people wanting them all. It's a poorly assembled collection IMO.

I would love to see a Panzer Dragoon collection with Panzer Dragoon Saga. I own it for my Sega Saturn and it was pretty cool for its time.

Garbage games. Especially since they are identical, or even a downgrade (Crazy Taxi's lack of licensed soundtrack) to the originals.

Actually, the DC had a GD-ROM, the G was for Giga, they are 1GB discs, custom, several hundred more MB's than PSX discs. So no, they were bigger. MS leaves about 7.5 usable, so that means that roughly 7 could perhaps fit on a DVD-DL disc if they wanted (or even Shenmue and 4 others). If any of that's incorrect, someone can add to it, but that should be accurate.

Adding non-Sega dev'd/published DC games is not like Pokemon on the PSP. That analogy is skewed. Pokemon on the PSP is a total cross-company shift. If people complained about Secret of Evermore not being on a Wii SNES compilation, it'd be comparable to the Powerstone, etc.. complaints here. Powerstone was on DC, this is a SEGA DC compilation, there is no other crossover. Games originally ON a SEGA system 10 years ago not coming out for a SEGA published compilation is fair game for critique. Just say that if it wasn't published by SEGA then it's not going into a collection.

Personally, I don't have any interest in 3 of those games and didn't know details of the DC release specifics, just that it was coming. I'd like Armada. I'd pay $30 alone for that game, but whatever...maybe I'll be relegated to buying a lightly used console and original disc just to get it.

Its a weak collection of only 4 games. There are so many DC classics I hope they come out with more collections with more games on each disc.

This. I don't care if they're on XBLA, I haven't bought any there and would gladly pay 29.99 for some games I want on one disc. But only four games, one of them I only have a passing interest in (Space Channel) and one I would never play (Bass whatever)? Pass.

Sega has had 15+ years to refine their Genesis collections. The very first Genesis collection has only 6 games IIRC. Every time they've released a new Genesis collection they've added a few more titles and slightly improved the quality of the emulation. I'm sure we'll see them follow a similar pattern with Dreamcast collections over the next 20 years.

Stick Jet Set Radio for the original Xbox into the 360 and you have a Jet Set game for the modern console. :D

Not really a good compilation but maybe they will release more stuff on XBLA and then later to disk. Still hoping we get Daytona and Sega Rally.

Sega Smash Pack? It had Slowdown that wasn't in the original versions, butchered music, graphic glitches, and an arcade game nobody wants.

Also Power Stone sucks and if it were released on XBLA everyone would hate it because it's shallow and online multiplayer would just expose them to hilarious exploits.

Nope. Not on there. Neither is the in-game advertising. Licensing issues and what not. They expired years ago and haven't been used in other ports (such as the PSP port).
May I ask why Sega is releasing Space Channel 5 Part 2 first, not the original Space Channel 5 (Part 1)?

Sega, I am still waiting on my Saturn Collection....
Space Channel 5 used FMVs for the backgrounds. Converting that into HD would look hideous, especially considering how compressed it was back then. Also, the US never got SC5:p2 outside of the PS2 special edition that included both games.

As for a Saturn collection, don't hold your breath. We still don't have fully functional Saturn emulators. All of the Saturn games we've seen get re-released on other consoles have been ports of the PC versions (Sonic R, Panzer Dragoon, NiGHTS into Dreams, etc.). Finally, there's also the sad note that several games are forever lost due to source codes being lost in a massive storage crash that had the codes saved.
That's a pretty weak collection there, unlike their Genesis collection which was amazing. I can't believe they didn't toss more stuff on there. As mentioned before, the Dreamcast used its own disc-based media that was a step above CDs but below DVDs. The most a Dreamcast game could take up was 1GB, which was how much the GD-ROM discs carried.
I would love to see a Panzer Dragoon collection with Panzer Dragoon Saga. I own it for my Sega Saturn and it was pretty cool for its time.
Not gonna happen. Only Panzer Dragoon was made available on PC and the former head of Team Andromeda confirmed there won't be a remake or port because the source code's been lost.
I agree with about everyone. We need to see Jet Set Radio, Shenmue, and/or Powerstone.
Ask Capcom for Power Stone. Sega can't do that.

It should be obvious. Sega doesn't release games in compilations that aren't theirs. You don't see Strider on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Also, Power Stone was originally an arcade game that just got ported over to the Dreamcast, like most of Capcom's other titles.

No way. That had some of the worst sound emulation around. Screwing up Streets of Rage 2's soundtrack is a dishonor. :p

Well, Sega Rally's getting another game coming to XBLA and PSN with online play. As for Daytona USA, licensing issues come to mind. In fact, Sega had to temporarily take down OutRun Online in order to square away a few things with the Ferrari. Though here's hoping we'll see a return of the series.
