I know that there were a lot of people here who ordered the game from Capcom's store (and were also angry about it being shipped late), so I figured it would be good to post this here to give you guys a heads up about the deal.

This is the item by the way, it is listed at $30 on Capcom's Store.

MvC3 was a huge disappointment to me (and the delay of the shipment was pretty crappy too), so while it is a nice gesture, the guide really doesn't do much to make me want to shop at Capcom again.
When I had called them for assistance with my order, they were very rude and incredibly unhelpful. Unless Capcom switches the company that sells/ships their games from their store, I can't imagine ever shopping there again.

Looks like they are just getting rid of the massive stock of unsold guides. Otherwise, they would have offered this days after the delay(s), not 2 months after.

Anyway, free is free.
Capcom should apologize for the game :D
I kept saying it looked like a mediocre at best game and nothing special but no one listened to me. I finally cracked and bought it, played it a couple times SP and then played online a couple times and never went back. Capcoms quality as a whole company has gone down the shitter like so many others. Of course when they started saying street fighter and tekken together thats a big cue they are just trying to sell games by their names alone, hence all the street fighter and resident evil shit lately. I miss the capcom that used to make all kinds of different games instead of shittying out franchises.

I predict the new mortal kombat to have similliar success since all they ever talk about is the violence in it and nothing else. Boon keeps standing around saying how awesome he is for inventing the xray damage thing before anyone else, despite the fact the horrible fight club already did it. I guess he figures that no one played fight club and will remember it while he pats himself on the back.
Jeez, Capcom is overpricing those things. Got mine for like 9$ at Best Buy (And the MSRP was 20$)
it's free.
it's free.
I think he means the price is high for what they normally charge to everyone else, which is $30.

I got the email as well. Too bad its way over due and i already own the guide. I would've rather had store credit to buy something i didnt already have.

I never trade my games, i got rid of MvC3 like it was the plague. returned it the week it was released, GS had a stack to label used already.

Im definitely satisfied with this. I think I got the Special Edition for less than the price of the standard game, plus a free T-shirt. Throwing in a free guide just makes this all the better.

idk, i'm not too thrilled on the xray thing either. it looks lame for being a super move when the special moves look more violent. well, mk always tries to bring something new every game such as more fatalities, friendships, babalities in mk2 and then the run button, auto combos, and knocking opponents through walls in mk 3 (not sure what happened after mk3). we'll see how it goes.

Capcom is at an all time high for quality. Anyone who disagrees is welcome to that opinion, but is wrong. :)

I have a guide already, but I'm getting my free one as well. I can keep one on the shelf and use this one since I like my collection of Capcom related books.

Not to be a jerk, but how is this a deal post? At the very least it should be in Free Stuff, but it doesn't really belong there either. Anyone in on this deal is in automatically, and had to get in months ago. It won't really do anyone any good here, because if you are eligible it'll happen whether you see this thread or not.

This sucks, I didnt get my copy until 3 days after release when I had had it on pre order for 2 months and I havent got one of these emails. WTF? How the hell do they rate who deserves it and who doesnt?

Also I still love this game alot but I can understand why people arent as happy with it. Its not like your typical fighter with huge lack of features besides the standard fighting. The new MK looks amazing and actually plays really well compared the the last 4 mks alone. It also has a shit ton of features as well as co op tag team play.

i got the email, but i had to wait 2 weeks for my shipment to come in. I've heard of people waiting even longer so your probably pretty low on the scale.

I think its a great game, i just keep getting distracted with more and more new games, gamestop sale kind of pumping up my "to do" pile.

I got the email for the FREE guide. I had the game pre ordered and the delivery wasn't too bad.

Worst part of the S.E. deal was I got a shirt that doesn't fit. I wasn't surprised when I heard Capcom was giving away all LARGE shirts. Anybody need this shirt? I already bought the guide from Amazon so looks like I got a good guide to trade.

Thanks CAPCOM!

I always think the same thing. This thread amounts to "hey, check your email." which most people do daily anyways. lol whatevs

Sorry to upset you with the thread I made

I posted it here since there was a huge thread about the original deal from Capcom in the deals area, figured it would be a good idea to point this out to the hundreds who do get a free copy of the guide.

This doesn't solve the problem. The best apology would be to drop that pos company Digital River. All capcom did here is give in to the complaints from those that feel like they're owed something free due to delayed shipments.

Good job giving in capcom. How about those okami preorders? They want free toy plushes for their troubles

fuck this shit. capcom fucked me over with a week long delay on delivery, rude ass responses by the customer service people when i emailed about it both before and after the release date, and then i dont get this free shit guide for a "make-up with you" customer service attitude. I am never ordering from them again.

Wow I'm surprised so many of you hate MVC3. I have been playing it with my roommates for weeks.

Edit: lol I didnt get an email and my order was delayed a whole business week. Oh well.

Got my email too! Thanks for the heads up OP.. Sucks I already own the guide.. but might make a nice gift for a friend of mine

My pre-order for the SE was delayed a week and I got the email today for the free guide. I thought everyone was getting the guide but it looks like some people are still getting shafted by Capcom.
but it looks like some people are still getting shafted by Capcom.
This is the case with anything Capcom related these days.

I sent Capcom an email with my order # and info asking about my free guide.

Capcom Customer Service replied and said it wasn't their department, I should contact Capcom Customer Service.

I agree with you. I would rather have digital River dropped rather than get a free strategy guide. But I know they won't do that. I didn't get mine until the first week of march.

I got my copy the same day there was a blog post about the delay. No email though.

To be honest, I was wrapped up in DCUO at the time so my awareness of the delay is shotty.

I got the free guide e-mail. It's nice but damn is it late for an apology.

I said before that I won't buy anything from the Capcom Store and this has not changed my mind. I don't know if it's Capcom themselves or digital river, but either way I'm done with their online store.

lol the good ole run around.

Capcom = fail

Maybe you should check with Capcom Customer Service. :3ds:

They were doing ok until they said they aren't localizing Ace Attorney Investigations 2. Crapcom can go fuck themselves as far as I care. I'm betting we won't get Phoenix Wright v. Professor Layton either.

I fell victim to the shipped early, but didn't receive the game until 3-4 days after the release date, but I guess since they shipped it "on time" and it got held up in MN I wasn't eligible for the "free" guide.

Still a nice gesture on Capcom's half. I dig the shirt though. It's not a bad "going out clubbing" shirt. lol

capcom's strategy of releasing a game, and then re-release it again with some added content (sf4 -> ssf4 ->ssf4 TE, dead rising 2 -> dead rising 2 off the record) is just them going back to the old days.

I wont be ordering another item from them thru their store again, and seriously doubt I'll buy another game of theirs ever.
Count me in on the not to impressed with MVC3. To be honest i'm not really that hyped for MK3.
Yeah i'm not to hyped about a 15 year old game either

;) The new MK is considered MK9

I got my e-mail yesterday.

I would hope so; I never received my package at all and it took forever to them to "investigate," "track" and refund my purchase.

Even with their goodwill gesture, I doubt I will be making a purchase through their online store anytime soon.
I can't believe so many people hate this game, I love it. It's in my top 3 favorite fighters of all time.
Do not feed the troll.

Capcom shipped my guide yesterday.
I ordered in January and received Marvel Vs Capcom 3 SE on the 19th of February as the game didn't ship until the 15th.

I've had my fill of Marvel 3, however I won't refuse a free duplicate guide!
