Roxio Game Capture $55 FS

I bought this for $70 from Amazon before with the $10 gaming credit, and it just did not work for me at all, the software installed, program booted, but when trying to select to record it just gave me error messages galore.

So yeah, not sure if it was my laptop or what, but I just don't recommend it based on that.

And the audio captures really poorly as well, from all the sources I've seen.

They can't stop you from posting footage for critical or satire reviews, they might stop you from straight up posting the entire walkthrough but i doubt this will pass, breaks too many already set in stone laws protecting critics etc.

It will get shut down harder then the M rated ban law, also $80 for this? this is $80 too much.

I'm already regretting my purchase, but I can't afford a HD-PVR. I thought this was the next best thing.

What OS and specs do you have? The audio seemed fine to me from the videos on youtube.
Yeah, pretty much worthless if it won't do at least 720p.
What do you need 720P for?

Oh, you know, because its the year 2011. Below 720p isn't really acceptable anymore.

The audio just sounds staticy, it's not the worst thing ever, but definitely noticeable.

And I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (which I think is where the problem was), 3GB RAM, 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo Processor, etc.

But the main menu would pop up, and if you chose any of the two options it would just be error screens galore. The site was just as useless and didn't have any advice on the device whatsoever.
And you might get arrested for capturing the video and uploading it if bill s978 passes.
See my sig please.

Do you think the problem was because you have professional or because you have 64 bit?

I don't mind 480P for personal videos and youtube, but you guys convinced me to cancel it anyways.

Does anyone know if you can stream via livestream or another website using the HD-PVR? I found a couple videos on youtube, but it looks like it's a confusing work-around to get it to work. I noticed the Roxio doesn't say it can stream either.

Yes you certainly can. Most people use the Hauppauge 1212 or the Black Magic for their videos/live streams. I imagine the Roxio PVR will work on Justin.TV or Ustream as well but the quality will be poor.
What is livestreaming for?
So people can broadcast playing games live of course

Thanks for the input :) I use Livestream currently to let my friends watch while raiding / playing in World of Warcraft, but I've been looking to do it for my PS3 as well. The bad part about livestream is that it costs minimum $350 a month. I'm not going to pay that just to stream to friends.

Does anyone have any experience with the HD-PVR 1212 and streaming?
Maybe I'm too old, I don't understand why people are posting live feeds of themselves.
If you build enough of a fanbase you can start to make money by way of ads or widgets. There's also a paypal donate button and I have seen some of the top streamers literally make upwards of $500 per donation period that they put towards new equipment, software, or games.

Sent. :)

Also, this doesn't look too bad if you are planning to stream from Justin.tv or livestream.
Isn't there another version of this that does 720p? I know I've seen it in the banner ad rotation here on CAG.
Fraps?

This looks pretty cool. I'm currently using the old school Adaptec game bridge but that thing is really buggy on Win 7. I like to use these mainly to take them on the road with me, I bring my 360 and use my laptop for a monitor while on trips that I really dont want to be on (wife's family lol). I'll have to wait to grab this, I'd prefer to get it on Amazon or even Best buy and try it out before I order from a better price store.

Edit: The wide screen option would be excellent, the Gamebridge is 4:3 and my laptop is widescreen.

im pretty sure it can record in HD since it clearly states "Capture real-time gameplay from your Xbox 360 or PS3 to your PC while still playing in full HD on your television." Meaning it will fireing out up to a 1080p image? i personally could care less if the recorded footage was 480p long as i was able to play in 720p. Any more solid info on this? $55 sounds like the right price.

You can output from your game console at 720p or 1080i, but the output from the game capture is 480p, and I guess you can export/upload? videos at 720p x 60fps/1080p x 30 fps.
