ENJOY!:bouncy:

Wholeheartedly recommended for $13. I found that leaving it plugged in for an extended period can screw up the batteries, but I was just forgoing the entire process and using it as a wired controller.

Another thing, the battery pack is literally just two rechargeable AAs taped together. I never found out if you could use your own batteries once those are done, but I don't really see why not.

Since it's just 2 AA batteries, you're better off just buying them yourself along with a charger. For $13, you definitely get at least 4 rechargeable batteries. If I still had my xbox, I would test 2 rechargeable batteries with my old charger to see if it could do it without the battery pack.

Erg. To get one or not.

I purchased one a few years ago and was not impressed with the battery life. Seemed like I would get 6 hours or so out of a charge.

For this price, I could get a 20 pack of duracell AA that seem to last 60 hours instead of 6 per two.

Play and charge kit is a big waste. You're much better off buying a rechargeable battery station, which usually comes with some batteries for about the same price. After I saw a drunk buddy of mine trip over the cord connected to my other buddies 360, which resulted in the system crashing to the floor and busting....now way I'm tethering my controller to the system.

These things are a waste. When the X360 first came out, these were invaluable. I would easily get a week out of a single charge. Now I would have to charge the the controllers 2-3 times a week. With that being said, I bought one from Amazon and I had to send it back for months later. I'd target just buy batteries from now on.

Agree, that these are somewhat of a waste.

MY rechargeable batteries are much more useful than our play-n-charge system, and the play-n-charge batteries are dying - they hold very little charge after 2 years.

I mean - who doesn't have rechargeable batteries in this day and age?
I can't picture having electronic equipment (especially console controllers) and not have rechargeables around.

I agree with everyone who's saying get rechargeable batteries instead even though I don't use them. I bought 2 of these battery packs for both my controllers and now only one of them works and that one only works for like 10 minutes even if its fully charged. Both my controllers are pretty much wired ones now since my stupid rechargeable batteries won't work for some reason and only one of these battery packs work for a short time. They were really great at first though =/

Does that mean it wouldn't be possible to fix a battery pack that doesn't work at all? If so I could try opening up mines and replacing it with my own batteries. One of mines doesn't even charge anymore.
Yeah, my batteries last 10x as long as the kit. But truthfully I just leave the kit plugged in at this point...
This.

I have to recommend against getting these, although the ones I purchased were years ago with a launch 360 so I don't know if they've made improvements since then. I've gone through 3 battery packs which can't hold any charges anymore (used them with the official play and charge as well as the official rapid charger)

I find that using 1500 Eneloop rechargeable batteries with a La Crosse charger works wonders.

The benefit over normal rechargeables (from what I can tell) is that you can still use the controller to play while it's plugged in and being charged. I'm assuming it uses a USB connection to recharge -- so I have a laptop at my house that I keep right next to my couch. So even if the battery died, I'd be able to plug it into my laptop and keep on playing.

This is what I do with my PS3 controller all the time (doesn't hold much of a charge).

informer
Couldn't have said it better myself.

I pitched my P&C kits a while back and replaced them with Enerloops. Went from charging every week to months or more between charges. And I have more than a few Enerloops charged and ready to go, so it's certainly only a minute to swap batteries out.

Wow I'm pretty surprised to read about all these cases of people having the battery packs die on them. I actually have the Nyko battery packs and the official MS Quick Charge Kit. I've had them for over 2 years now and I get at least 8 hours if not more juice out of those. You'd figure the Microsoft ones would be better.. perhaps it's because the Quick Charge Kit doesn't take long at all to charge them and once they are done, I remove them. Who knows..

informer
Out of curiosity, is this the La Crosse charger you're referencing?

I was considering getting the Quick Charge Kit to replace my now-defunct P&C kit, but I've heard several people saying that rechargeable batteries are the way to go. Would you recommend getting the charger from Amazon or is there a cheaper alternative?

I used to be pretty hot on the Play and Charge kits, but over time (a 16-24 months) neither pack would hold a charge, and I ended up using them as wired controllers (since I was permanently connected to the 360). Made it a bit of a nuisance, and maybe my expectations are unrealistic, but I had hoped for better performance for longer. I've converted to using rechargeable batteries, and get more life, and more value out of them.

I'm looking to buy some rechargable batteries and a charger as well, I ended up buying the silver controller with the play and charge kit packaged in cuz I needed a new controller but I won't be buying another kit after my last one that no longer holds a charge either now.

Never heard of LaCrosse before and the Eneloop batteries appear to be made by Sanyo?

I have an older BC-900 which they don't sell anymore, but it looks very similar to that model (mine is blue). I got mine from Amazon at the time which seemed to be the best price. The low voltage charging with these chargers is the key and which is why they will prolong the life of your rechargeable batteries. Using a rapid charger may be faster, but it will just kill your batteries.

Regarding the Eneloop batteries, I don't know if there are real differences between the ones made in Japan vs. the ones made in China but I know that they do exist. I have the ones from Japan which work great. The 1500 ones also have a crown icon on them (while the older 1000 ones don't).

If you keep unplugging it and plugging it back in, eventually it'll charge properly. I'm sure the batteries in it are just cheap so you end up buying another kit.

Agreed these are a waste, they are just 2 cheap rechargeables either soldered or taped together. For the price of one of these you can get a decent charger and batteries, you will have to spend a little more for a good charger but if you buy the Lacrosse charger and a 4 pack of eneloop batteries you will probably never have to buy batteries for your Xbox 360 again, at least not for a very long time.

In fact the eneloops plus the charger will probably last you much longer than your Xbox will. The new eneloops are good for 1500 charges which is a lot.

Plus you can use the charger with any rechargeable batteries.

Hmmm, I just bought this today, but I think I may return it after all the negative reviews. I have Eneloops, but it seems they always end up in other devices.

All this rechargeable battery talk makes me want to switch to using it instead of playing wired. Regular batteries won't work on both my controllers for some reason. Anyone have this happen before? I put it into the thing and stick it in the back, but they never work. The only thing that works is the one battery pack I have.

Since both the battery pack and the normal batteries have the same point of contact...are you sure you're putting the batteries in the correct way? It doesn't seem like one contact would work, but the other wouldn't...had to ask.

Yea. The batteries are in correctly. It's weird though. When I try to take it out it's somewhat held in the little pack. Not really sure if it's suppose to be like that.

wow at all the negative reviews on this kit. I remember awhile back my battery pack would take forever to charge and when it would finish probably a few hours later it would need to be charged again.

oh well. What rechargeable batteries are recommmended?
I recommend eneloop - awesome, but a bit more expensive
Duracell Precharged is cheaper but is comparable to eneloop. People said they (white top) are OEMed by Sanyo.

My local grocery store sometimes has Duracell rechargable batteries for around $2 I always pick up whatever is left AA or AAA, it's a steal considering a 4 pack goes for like $10. Once I also picked up a second wall charger at a Goodwill for like $3, I was surprised to find it that cheap since most stuff has been ridiculously overpriced at my local Goodwill
