Do you think WOW's anneal pass worth it?

Kevfactor

CAGiversary!
Wow anneal pass worth it? This week is the last week to get it for a free copy of d3.

I'm debating 100$ for the pass or just buy d3 for 60 next months. In the end I'd be paying 40$ for a year of online which wouldn't be to bad but i'm not sure if I'd play that game that often. Last time i had a wow account active i didn't even play it for 6 months.

Then again, I am starting to miss it some. I just think last time that I was into the game that I got burnt out in all the grinds and sitting in the city 30 mins with nothing to do but wait for queues. If i started it up again I'd probably take more of a 2 day a week alt approach. :)

Are you really going to be playing WoW when Diablo 3 is released? If it were me the answer would be hell no. So why pay $100 for a $60 game?

It's only worth it if you are 100% sure you're gonna play WoW for the next six months. Seeing as Diablo 3 will likely take up 6 months of that time, at least, I'd say that's a bad deal. Keep in mind that it costs at least $150 to pay for WoW for a year, and that's with two 6-month subs. And don't forget that Mists of Pandaria comes out later this year, so if you wanna do the newer content, you'll have to pay for that expansion too.
no wow is stale, take the extra 40 bucks you wouldve spent and buy
The Diablo 3 Collectors Edition, or wait on a decent MMO to come out, the current ones are all pretty much WoW just with different settings (scenery).

Just look at the numbers...if you're already buying Diablo 3, the annual pass is $40 more. If you'd pay for even three months of WoW, the annual pass becomes the better deal, since you'd also get a an admittedly gaudy mount.

Read up on Mists of Panderia. It's in beta now, and there's a fair amount of info out there. If it sounds good to you and you think you'll get 3+ months of playtime out of it, I'd consider the annual pass.

The annual pass isn't $100 though. It's closer to $155-$180 depending on what sub plan you choose.

Weird, could've sworn you paid a flat rate or something initially. Guess that shows how little I paid attention to it to not notice it's a commitment that you'll stay subscribed for a year.

With that in mind, no, it isn't worth it. As I said, no reason to play now, Mists won't come out till July/August. You'll have three months of sitting in queues and running the same stuff every day. You'd pretty much have to play WoW for the nine months following Mists to break even.

Can't tell if trolling .... or serious. I'm hoping trolling. Considering most people found the game stale a week into it.

That's a worse investment TBH. That game is already in a tailspin and I wouldn't touch it right now.

So, you're basically asking us if you should play WoW? You've played WoW, you know how it is. It most likely hasn't changed much since the last time you played. If you wanna play WoW, it's worth it. If not, it's not worth it. I am currently subscribed to the "anneal" pass because I still play WoW and will buy Mists when it's released, so it's worth it to me. I was going to buy D3 anyway, so it's a total win-win for me.

Can't tell if ignorant...or arrogant. I'm hoping both, considering it sounds like you've never even played the game chief. I played wow for 6 years and I'm loving TOR right now.
I definitely cant see me playing it 6 months from now but its a fun ride and KOTOR 3 is never coming...

SWTOR blows, as does WOW.

I hope that helped.

yeah i think im going to pass actually. looking at wow it's like nothing was added to the game since the expansion but maybe 2 grind zones. wow really needs more content and less grinds imo but ohh well lol. i also thought the pass was 99$ (guess i got that from the eq anniversary deal) but it's 150.

i do want to play mmos again but im more of an everquest type of player than a theme parker. SW to me had the main flaw of wow's leveling system, the open world is too big flooding it with useless quests and there no one real incentive to team up with other people and play teh game like an mmo.

both gw and tera look pretty promising tho. i actually love action games so i hope tera works out :)
You could instead, buy the Diablo 3 Collector's Edition

It will count as credit towards the 12 month purchase

At least that's what they said in Blizzcon 2011
Yeah, you get 4 months toward the annual pass if you get the D3 CE, making your paying commitment only 8 months. That's still $120, making your total investment $220 if you get the D3 CE, which is higher than the $180 it costs just to sub to WoW for a year.

After several people I knew stopped playing, along with the several complaints about the game, not including endgame was finished by people in what, the pre release time for collectors edition members? I'm good. Not to mention the subscription numbers have dropped a half a million in the past 2 months and they're already talking about merging servers to keep the community together instead of so spread out.

So maybe I'd say informed instead of ignorant ... and arrogant.

Sub numbers for SWTOR have stayed consistent. What's dropped is the number of concurrent users at peak times, which drops after the launch of every MMO ever.

Last week Cowen analyst Doug Creutz ruffled a few fanboy feathers with his prediction of declining subscription numbers for Star Wars: The Old Republic. BioWare lead writer Daniel Erickson responded by saying that subscriptions are not dropping but that the number of concurrent users at peak times has gone down.

http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/04/24/bioware-strikes-back-at-swtor-declining-sub-reports/

Endgame was finished quickly by people who powerleveled through the content, and it took a few weeks, not before the week of early access ended. Quite frankly, people who play games like that aren't satisfied with any game that's not a horrible, time-consuming grind.

Even WoW has had free server transfers to fill up underpopulated servers, which is what Bioware is talking about doing soon, so I don't know how this is a bad thing.

DrakeAssaShin: What is being done to address low population servers?

Dallas: The Character Transfer Service, as mentioned above, will be offering free transfers from/to specific servers. This should allow the most motivated players to get onto a higher population server.

starwars felt more anti social than wow so i dropped that after the 3nd planet.
But to be fair it probably will be fun with the random dungeon finder tho. the whole mail it quest system needs to go future mmos tho imo. makes for to much wasted open world space when 90% of the world dies in 2 hits and doesn't require heals /potions and no one is ever on the same quest to team up and do stuff together. :)

A lie by omission. Yes, sub numbers have stayed consistent. How could they not with all the free weekends, free month, additional regions brought online, etc? Zero growth and less concurrent users means one thing: decline in players.

No matter how you slice it, they have lost hundreds of thousands of subs in the first four months and that number is climbing daily. They're in survival mode now, limping towards server transfers to hopefully retain what healthy population they have left.

Thank you Jodou said it better than I could have. I believe the sub numbers peaked at about 1.75 million, they are now around 1.25 if I'm not mistaken.

As for the WoW transfers, the only time that has happened is when a region finally recieved it's own servers, IE when Gurubashi lost most of it's population because most people on there were Brazillian and Blizzard finally opened Brazillian servers. The other times is when they had to reduce the population on very highly populated servers and offered free transfers to less populated servers to keep it balanced via hardware wise.

SWTOR is thinking of merging servers, as in making 2 or more servers into 1. Something WoW, that I can recall, has never done.

As for content being finished so early, for any MMO it should take a couple of months to finish the highest content. What's the point of having something that's so easily completed so fast in this genre? They need subscriptions, what would these people be subscribing to if they already "beat" the game.

Yeah, but SWTOR is only a few months old. Them having to already discuss having players transfer servers is definitely not a good sign.

Only numbers I had heard was 2.1 and then 1.7 after the free month. They kept claiming to hold steady at 1.7 for months, but I guarantee you those aren't active players. Plenty of people moved on with active 6 month subs. I keep hearing 1.2 though, so maybe I missed when they released that info. If true, they've lost over 50% of their original population.

Still profitable, but if they ever dip below the 500k mark then they'll be in real trouble.

Yea that 2.1 sounds more accurate, I heard 1.7. Maybe that was just the people that kept playing. I did hear 1.2 from somewhere though, I can't remember where I read it but it was recently.

funny thing is i did sign up for wow for a month, there just isn't anything out right now. will keep me occupied till the 15th. only play every other day tho but i can see there at least is new gear to get finally. :)
