Not one shump in this generation that hit the US has been rare or expensive. There is never any reason to buy these games early at the high price.
That said, I really like AK and think it's worth the price, even if it is more of a ridiculous mechanics wankfest than a straight shooter.
To support Rising Star Games and maybe get more of these brought to the states?
I pre-ordered and have zero regrets, sooo many hours i've sunk into this game. Have Under Defeat HD pre-ordered as well $30, i'm a whore for these games.
Updated the OP to reflect price drop.
@ $hady - Totally agree. Have many recent shmups dropped a lot in price after U.S. release (like Deathsmiles and Akai Katana)? Absolutely. Do I care that I paid more for those games at release? Not at all. I buy these games at release (and later when the price drops I buy a few more), to support the developers and publishers. I have 2 copies of Under Defeat HD preordered for PS3 as well. Shmups are a niche market and many publishers in the past have ignored them for EU/N.A. releases; now that Akysys and RSG are actually putting them out, I'm more than happy to pick up a few copies of each game to support this genre.
Having said that, some shmups DO go up in price; take a look at Raiden IV and Raiden Fighters Aces; they are generally going for much higher prices on Ebay these days. Sometimes it takes time for the price to go back up after going down. I remember when Raiden Fighters Aces was selling for $12.50 on Amazon for a long time, not anymore!
