Akai Katana - Xbox 360 $14.99 @ Amazon

It's 1200 points on XBL as well. It's also just 640 points on Hungarian XBL and it's compatible with American systems if you want to go through the hassle.

dropped to $14.99.

I bought this last week for $17.15, and am considering a rebuy/return(bought from 3rd party seller), but I'm not sure I'll go through the trouble...

Without clicking on the link, I thought it's some kind of hack n slash game. lol
This old school shooters looks pretty good and side scrollers are pretty rare.

Man, I paid $30 or $40 for this, whatever MSRP was on launch day. I have yet to even play it! I thought this was going to have a low print run given the genre. I really hope Rising Star Games brings more Cave shooters over.

Not one shump in this generation that hit the US has been rare or expensive. There is never any reason to buy these games early at the high price.

That said, I really like AK and think it's worth the price, even if it is more of a ridiculous mechanics wankfest than a straight shooter.

Figures. As soon as I pick it up for a total of $16 on ebay, it drops to $14.99 on Amazon. I must learn greater patience.

To support Rising Star Games and maybe get more of these brought to the states? ;)

I pre-ordered and have zero regrets, sooo many hours i've sunk into this game. Have Under Defeat HD pre-ordered as well $30, i'm a whore for these games.

Updated the OP to reflect price drop.
Looks cool but I think I'll wait until ~$10. Thanks OP.
If you want it for $10 and don't mind it being slightly, if at all, used; GameStop converted all of their new stock to used today.

In Gold Box. Great success!

@ $hady - Totally agree. Have many recent shmups dropped a lot in price after U.S. release (like Deathsmiles and Akai Katana)? Absolutely. Do I care that I paid more for those games at release? Not at all. I buy these games at release (and later when the price drops I buy a few more), to support the developers and publishers. I have 2 copies of Under Defeat HD preordered for PS3 as well. Shmups are a niche market and many publishers in the past have ignored them for EU/N.A. releases; now that Akysys and RSG are actually putting them out, I'm more than happy to pick up a few copies of each game to support this genre.

Having said that, some shmups DO go up in price; take a look at Raiden IV and Raiden Fighters Aces; they are generally going for much higher prices on Ebay these days. Sometimes it takes time for the price to go back up after going down. I remember when Raiden Fighters Aces was selling for $12.50 on Amazon for a long time, not anymore!

Thanks for the tip about used price at Gamestop. I think I'll check the local Gamestop and pick it up if they have a complete copy. $10 is more my speed.

I realize it's 1200 points, but $10 and the ability to trade-sell when I'm done with it is a much better deal. At least if I can find a complete copy in good shape. If they are switching them from new to used that should be no problem.

Cool. No, I don't mind. Thanks.

Is that regional or all over the country? Why does GS do this anyway?

Worked in NJ. You can check the gamestop.com website for inventory.

Who knows. Whatever the case, GS intentional opens new product to sell as used (it goes under-reported since most people are naturally far prone to criticize the opposite)

IIRC I heard that happened with reprints like Resident Evil and Fatal Frame...
