Titan Hero Toys?

So, the past few months I have been noticing these Titan Hero toys. Large, 12" figures of various Marvel and Transformers figures. However, they only have 4 points of articulation (arms and legs go up and down), they are often squished (only about 2-3" wide), and the paint detail often looks just above dollar-store grade. The Transformers ones in particular are awful.

So...why are these things popular with kids?

I would like to know also since we ended up buying my son the Target 6 pack of these plus Thor for X-Mas.

They're popular? Really? I Only know them as the cheap ass looking toys.
