:drools:

I am going to attempt to hold back until all of them are released and hopefully pick up an extended edition set. I doubt this plan will work. :/

I wonder if this item will sell out, or stick around long enough for us to see a significant price drop long down the road. I'd pick this up for $30. I'll still have to get the extended one way or another. Saw The Hobbit in theaters 4 times...

Please tell me that the movie isn't split onto multiple discs. That was my only gripe with the LOTR Trilogy EE. Sucks to have to change discs midway through a movie, what is this the days of cassette?

Wow. Are you fat and lazy? That much of a struggle to swap discs?

I'd buy around 30 too but will just wait for ee boxset.

I am a fan of anything LOTR/Hobbit, so I think I might have to give in and buy the Box Set. I currently own 5 Versions of the LOTR Trilogy.

Reg DVD

Extended DVD

Reg Blu-Ray

Extended Blu-Ray

Steelbook Blu-Ray

DVDs of the extended versions also required 2 discs, 4 commentary tracks + normal audio tracks + alternate language tracks + long ass movie = multiple discs.

I never got around to purchaseing the original trilogy Extended on blu-ray so at this point I'll probably just wait to see if they do a big 6 movie box set.

Def wait to see if Best Buy/Target has better offers.
I hope you're talking about the regular Extended Edition, since the version with the figures is Amazon-exclusive.

This set is nice, but I think the normal Extended Edition will suit me (and my LotR-loving family) just fine. :)

Nice.  I was waiting for the extended version to release before buying The Hobbit.  I'm not too concerned about the box set, but just the Blu itself.  Now it's just about how to get it at the price I want (~$15).

As this has a whopping 13 extra minutes as opposed to the 30/40/50 extra from the originals, I will likely just rent this and see if the other films add a lot more and hopefully do my best to wait on a box set. I feel like this release has way more to do with the special features than the actual extended edition.

Where is my 5-disc BD player carousel?!?!!!! Considering how bloody long the load time is, they should at least do a mini 3-BD changer so you can have something to do while waiting for your movie to load.
