Gamescom PS Vita hopes?

I know this sounds nuts, but some people don't play games on a PC. Like, at all. Indies are making money developing for vita, so someone must be buying.

Was hoping for a bombshell today, but still a hell of a good show with a lot of new games shown.
I haven't been playing as much on PC anymore either and I'm cool with the indie games but at least one big budget title from Sony would be nice. That Murasaki Baby or whatever looks cool but an Infamous, a god of war, an uncharted, or a new Syphon Filter would be nice.

I would say Borderlands 2 on Vita was the bombshell. I know I'll be getting that assuming it plays well.

IMO devs are holding back on big titles due to remote play being an integral part of the PS4.  With RP (for me at least) those games that I would want to devote time to are the ones I'd play at home in bed.  The question I have about it is if multiplayer support is there - it'd be awesome to play some BF4 via the Vita.

True but a lot of these indie games have also been console games like Fez, Walking Dead, Limbo, and N++. Its great indie devs are making money with their vita ports but these indie games aren't selling new Vita's to people nor bringing in new games made for the Vita. The Vita needs more new IPs designed for the system like Dragons Crown, Soul Sacrifice , Gravity Rush, etc.

I agree, but I think at this point Sony is also trying to win over the developers so it will pay off down the line.
I hope so but I think the PS4 will be the death of the Vita. With remote play I fear devs wont bother making any new Vita exclusives because you can just remote play the PS4 version to your Vita and everything else will just be cross buy.

Chicken or egg problem I guess - it costs a lot of money and time to develop an original game for a platform. Why would anyone develop when the install base is so low? Chances of making your money back is dicey. Porting is cheaper and lower risk and may help to slowly increase base. Indie devs making money is good because - surprise - AAA titles have gotten outrageously expensive and will likely be fewer and far between in the next gen. Indies will be running the show between the heavy hitting releases.

I'd certainly like a bunch of shiny new titles designed for the vita too (there's at least two more coming this year in Tearaway and Batman), but I get why they don't exist.

Right there in that boat, I would and could never play games on a PC I just can't do it. So all of these indie Vita ports are new, fresh and exciting for me.

On topic, the hardware price drop is great (it's actually $100 where 3G models are concerned) but the memory cards are still grossly overpriced. Hopefully I can snag a 32GB for $30 or less on Black Friday. I love the Vita but I simply will not pay that much for memory.

More info about games are still trickling out of Gamescom.

Sony posted a blog that had a full list of indie games coming to the Vita, including stuff not shown off at the presser like Joe Danger 1 & 2 and the Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (which will be free on PS+ when it releases next year.)

The full list of PS Vita indie titles

Don't suppose they mentioned whether or not BL2 Vita would allow you to play BL2 with people who were playing on the PS3? I kind of doubt it, but I am a little hopeful.

Also, yay for price drop on memory cards. Amazon already has it at $78, but I'm pretty sure I saw it there for $85 ish a while back, so I am not sure if the $78 reflects the price drop or not.

Edit: Actually amazon still has the base price listed at $99 so that's not including the price drop.

Wait to go Tokyo Game Show 19th Sep, this show never seems to disappoint me. I was right not have my hope high for Vita, who is in charge of making BL2 portable? Dive Kick devs?

I agree somewhat but it just sucks that Sony is getting all these old indie games for vita yet can't seem to get any of the newer games like Ducktales Remastered, the new Strider game, or Castle of Illusion HD. It's a real sad day when a game like Ducktales Remastered comes out for Wii U but not Vita.

very true - I'm hoping this actually changes with ps4. since a number of indies are developing simultaneously for ps4 and vita, hopefully capcom and friends will realize they can do it too.

Pretty disappointed bunch of indie titles (AKA smartphone/tablet games) and Borderlands 2 which most people have already played the crap out of on Xbox/PS3/PC and really Borderlands is best when played with friends online with mics not really the best for a portable system and on top I'm not gonna pay ~$40 to play it again on Vita.
