Rockstar will release a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 in 2014, Eurogamer understands.

Multiple industry sources have indicated the open world game, currently available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, will come out on PC in the first quarter of 2014.

The release plan mirrors that used for Grand Theft Auto 4, which released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 29th April 2008 before launching on PC in December 2008.

MX vs ATV has shitty graphics according to youtube.

That's what's stopping me. I don't mind graphics on other genres (I'm an old gamer), but I like racing games to look good (except games like carmageddon. I can play that game forever)

I never found it to be difficult, it just goes against how I like to play games. I'm not a 100% completionist, but I do like to try to do all available quests. I'm one of those people that likes to spend time grinding sometimes and being tied to a timer just made me feel a bit handcuffed in the having fun department.
DR2 might not be your cup of tea, TBH.

I think it's more about DR2 making you play THEIR game to THEIR wants and needs, not YOURS.

I think that is the point DR2 has a timer: to make you feel uncomfortable w/ the timer (tension!); go places quickly and always be on the move; make snap decisions to help who you can (or fail); save yourself or die trying; save your daughter or fail - and that's it!

I think DR2 also does this to make you replay the game a billion times, too. You can't and won't do everything one one-play-through - and they make damn sure of that even more so w/ this timer! It's like how many RPG's make sure you won't see every quest and every path on one play-through - expect to play numerous times, if you want to do so.

They want to to replay the same areas, quests and scenarios - get better and better at the game, with each playthrough - being able to maybe do more quests and save more, each time around. That repetition thing, it's kind of like what Dark Souls does - except, you know, Dark Souls doesn't have timers, it just has brutal difficulty and has you replay areas w/ respawning you & your enemies when you reach a Bonfire (whether respawned to a Bonfire by death or just you made your way to a Bonfire).

I think if DR3 doesn't have even an option to let the player decide if they want to have the timer on or off, it could wind-up being too much like Dead Island. It might lose some of its identity, if it just drops the timer-idea entirely. Hell, DR3 is already looking much more realistic and less cartoonish compared to DR2, from what we've seen.

EDIT:

You can do every side quest in one run. The time limits are more lenient in 2 compared to 1, you just need to keep moving. The bigger problem is making sure none of the survivors die while escorting them since you'll be escorting several at once a lot of times.

I actually liked the time limit in the Dead Rising games, sad to see it go away in 3 if it ever comes to PC.

I've only played DR2 (original) - yeah, I really thought the timer was kind of cool, as it was the cause for a lot of the tension and "keep it moving" mentality I had to adopt for this game. Plus, this game's trying actually to be DIFFERENT.

I can understand if in DR3, they decide to have an option to let players decide if they want a timer on or off. That might help more gamers get into this series, by giving players such an option - some gamers don't like the timer and that kind of restriction. Hardcore DR3 fans, they'll just turn the timer-on and see what they can do. I think if they totally removed the timer completely - then it could turn DR into another open-world zombie-killing game/series.

MX vs ATV doesn't have great graphics, but they're not terrible either.. they're just kind of dated.

If you're a big fan of off-road racing games, I'd get it.. otherwise there are better racing games.

The thing is I want a game of it's kind... And 80% discount is a great price. But if the gameplay doesn't make for it's dated graphics, I'll pass

I haven't played the one that's on sale, but the older MX vs ATV were really fun. As long as they didn't change the gameplay too much, this one should be good.

Does anyone know if the Nvidia Batman Origins code can be redeemed for a steam key right now? I just got one for $20 on eBay.

Nevermind, got the code redeemed.

Thanks for the heads up but I don't know why when I try to get the game I receive the message "Oops looks like you haven't voted yet".

Edit: Seems that I have to wait for it to register.

Yeah, it's wonky. All I can say is make sure you have an account at CVG and are logged in before voting, and that you use the same email address for CVG and your GMG account. Honestly I have no idea what combination of things I did made it work, but at least the site isn't crashing every 10 seconds.

Yeah, it's the same email as the one I use on GMG. I'll have to wait for my Mafia II key :)

LMAO! :D

I think a brand-new full-blown iteration in a Half-Life (i.e. it has a new number - i.e. HL1, HL2) is that series Valve trots out along w/ its new Engine to say any of the following:

"Hey! Look at me! I'm a graphical & technical marvel! I'm beyond anything else out there! Drool now!"

"Oh, look at my engine - 3rd party dev's, you know you want to license this engine for your game!"

Only thing is - unlike Id Software, when Valve drops a brand-new engine, they drop an amazing new shooter that ALSO have both a great story & great characters.
I think the reason we have not seen Half Life 3 is simply Valve is waiting till they can make it revolutionary again. I mean Half Life 1 was revolutionary, Half Life 2 was revolutionary and some critics claimed it was the greatest game ever created. I think Valve is waiting until they could pull it off again with Half Life 3.

Yeah, I'm around the same thought. They feel like they have a legacy to live up to. They want to make it *perfect* before releasing it, they have no reason to rush.

Please dont add me, I dont want any friends at all, and dont talk to the poor ones on my list.

that deserves an add

I "accidentally" bought "Planet Alcatraz" thinking I was going to get a Steam Key to pad out my Library total, but due to my lack of opening up each one (and/or looking at the groupees thread on CAG), I just bought what I was missing. Um, yeah. Anyway, I may have to fire up Planet Alcatraz so I have some kind of "control" to compare your gifts to.....
I have my Steam library divided into two categories; games Mooby likes and games Mooby doesn't like. Of course the first category is devoid of any games whatsoever. ;)

I think I have mentioned this before but I can't stand the thought of my games not being alphabetized, so I just have them in collapsible categories based on the first letter of the title. Plus extra categories for mods, betas, duplicate entries (GTA mac versions...), and Amnesia Fortnight prototypes as well.

Of course this is not entirely foolproof - games starting with the word "A" don't alphabetize right (A Game of Dwarves, A Virus Named Tom, A Valley Without Wind) unlike "The" games. And then there's the age old problem of games within the same series being in the wrong order. Anomaly 2 before Anomaly: Warzone Earth? I could die.

---

Also, Square Enix has finally announced how the pricing will work for the PC version of Deus Ex: HR Director's Cut.

If you already own the game and the Missing Link DLC, it's just $4.99; if you own the game with no DLC, it's $9.99; and you can also buy it with the game for $19.99. Very fair IMO, they could've really hosed us if they wanted to. I loved the game on 360 and can't wait to replay with the DLC and DX content on PC.

Oh one last thing cats and kittens, add me on Steam for fun times: http://steamcommunity.com/id/neuropod
added

Or a bundle.

re: DR2. 51 people on my list have, and not a single "recommendation". Don't really know what to make of that.
I'm always on here, so I don't have time to actually play any of these much less take the time to write up a review. ;)

Dead Rising is a zombie adventure game for control freaks. There is too much micro-management with regard to saving survivors and defeating mini-bosses for it to be exploratory and immersive. The combative elements are also weak. True, you can use pretty much anything as a weapon, but engaging zombies feels disjointed and unsatisfactory; the only enjoyment you get from fighting them is after you've maxed your stats and learned martial arts by leveling up, which stems from (you guessed it) saving survivors, beating mini-bosses, and defeating zombies. Also, being grabbed by a random zombie and having to mash a button for a QTE is annoying, and it is unavoidable regardless of level or progression.

All in all, it's a game with a nice premise that borrows too much from Capcom's pseudo-RPGs and The Sims. I'd give it a pass. There are more enjoyable zombie games out there.

Agree in part although I'd say the time limits aren't that annoying and it does push the game forward (also Off the Record has a free roam mode).  $7.50 for OTR isn't bad.  $5 for vanilla (if you can live without free roam... and you'll get bored of it soon) for the super cheap.  I enjoyed it.

Been trying to on 3 separate accounts(2 are completely new accounts) and all 3 give me errors and tell me to re-enter my info no matter how many times I enter the info.

All info is correct, I voted in all categories on all 3, all 3 have the same emails between GMG and CVG, and all 3 got verifications that I voted. :(

Thanks for the reminder. Voted without a hassle, now just waiting on the game key. Now the question is, is Mafia 2 worth playing or should I just flip it? How does it compare to Sleeping Dogs?

I wish I could like this post harder. In related news, I recategorized my own library this weekend. Created a new category called "permanent backlog" and moved half my games into it, and deleted/combined some other categories that then were left without much in them. I'm tired of scrolling through all these games that either are crap or I know I'll never get to. I enjoyed admiring my library when it was still under 200 games...now I just want to find something to actually play.

This post is waaay too unRollingSkull, dude.

I don't know what to think except why the fuck I haven't seen both of you guys spewing salt at the same time and place. ¿El Misterio?

Rolling Skull praises crappy AAA games with eight hours of linear gameplay and poops on fairly creative indie games.  Please don't compare me to that philistine.

I think I am going to something similar. Categories of: Playing, Play Casually, Play Soon, Backlog, Will Never Play, and Completed. Then just append a pre-fix to each category to sort them in the list.

I used a different email and user name than my Greenman Gaming account, I guess if you wanted the key to be associated with your GMG account you should use the appropriate info. Since it's just a Steam key I didn't care.

So this is unrelated to DR2, but does anyone else really like writing steam recommendations? I know a lot of people don't do it, or just do one sentence "gam b god" type ones, but I love reading ones from people that actually put some effort into them and find they definitely make me want to play a game more.

Ya know, I think I'm gonna go ahead and pick up one of the Lost Planet games tonight, based solely on Drabelincoln's glowing recommendations.  Thanks, buddy!  :joystick:

I've personally never written one, but I really enjoy reading the ones people put thought into.

Yeah, I get that. Sorta the same way I look at marriage. (FYI: I'm not married.)

(FYI Pt.2: I just bought Dead Rising 2 Complete because...masochism.)

Dead Rising 2 was the last Capcom daily. Sale ends 1 PM EST today, meaning no more new deals.

Yeah, I was confused about that also since it says it's through the 14th, but then I check the store page and it definitely ends about 10 from now.
