I made a screenshot of Resident Evil Revelations for another forum, might as well post here, this is with SweetFX and forced ambient occlusion in Nvidia Inspector. Looks pretty damn good for a 3DS game.

I don't think the Sega bundle will be for Amazon. I'm almost sure it will be 1 key only. Could be Steam, we are near the Halloween sale. Or this week's Humble weekly...

I thought it could be a Steam store bundle too, but it shows the Proof of Purchase only attribute, which is used for keys. Amazon has sold some single key bundles, although they are uncommon. GMG would make the most sense to me.

So since Halloween is approaching, I think everyone should post their favorite scary/horror game.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

Not a traditional horror game, more a post apocalyptic, but it definitely has many parts that if played in a dark room, well, I hope you don't have heart problems. Plus there are mods to make it harder/scarier.

I should make my favorite scary game the first I gave my standing ovation back then: Undying.

I ran RE:R without any outside enhancements and still thought it looked OK. The character models looked surprisingly nice (dat ass), but the background textures really kinda revealed the games origins. Overall, not bad for a 3DS port.

Since I have yet to play Amnesia or Penumbra, my answer would definitely be Silent Hill 2. I found that it set a creepier atmosphere than the original and not that I really find any games/movies scary, but it definitely sets a noticeable vibe of foreboding.

Oh, and big ups to the elephant in the room for hooking me up with Legendary.

Would be much more interested in this if it was someone other than MS talking about it... Granted, I don't know who I want saying it (I've enjoyed numerous Sony exclusives over the years but seem to favor MS offerings more) but MS just hasn't done anything lately that I agree with... Though it had issues, some serious, pulling support for GFW just reminded me how quickly MS losses interest in something that not a winner...

That said if that quote is hinting at a Forza 5 PC release I would buy it in a heartbeat....

I think more serious competition is GTA V (which supposedly releases for PC early next year).
We'll see a PC port of GTA V... I really don't doubt it. It will come out at the same time as the XBone1 and PS4 version come out.... (The platforms are so similar now...)

So since Halloween is approaching, I think everyone should post their favorite scary/horror game.
I really don't play allot of horror games... Dead Space is always high on my list to play next but I never get to it... So mine would likely be Doom 3. I know its cheap monster closest spawning BS but that and the flashlight had me jumping like crazy.

I rarely if ever play actual "horror" games, so my vote would be something like Bioshock. The atmosphere was extremely foreboding, and I fell for more than my fair share of jump scares (hello Medical District). I know most wouldn't consider it scary at all, but for what it's worth I found it pretty unsettling (at least the first time through).

EDIT: System Shock 2 is a close second, though I've only played about an hour so far.

I'm planning that as my Halloween week game, seems the only time I will be able to force myself through it :cold:

Have a friend who just joined Steam, and has virtually no games. So I am trying to track down older bundles to get his backlog started. (such a good friend huh?  ) So tell me oh Cheap Asses, what are the best bundles for a Steam noob? Origin and Deep Silver/THQ are the obvious ones, but I doubt I will find those, so I am looking for others.

That scenario is exactly why Bundlestars exists.

Ugh I need to play this so bad. Maybe when I finish the game I'm on now.

I would start in the CAG Steam trade thread - you can get a lot of games for a few $$:

Unfortunately, I haven't played a ton of horror games. I love the ones I have played though, Through lack of selection, I'll have to go with Dead Space. Awesome awesome game. Here's an old school shout-out, though: Alone in the Dark. That's the first horror game I eve played, I was around five or six. Our family computer was in the basement, which made playing it even creepier. I remember I was playing it one day and my sister starting walking down the (creaky old basement) steps. My imagination took off, so I ran to the closet and shut the door until I was sure it was her.

Telltale was one of the best if they like adventure games. Double Fine if they like their games, too.

Really ANY humble bundle is good. The current october bundle at indie gala isn't too bad, has a couple keepers like crusader kings 2 and two worlds 2 in it. If you buy that you get a dollar discount on any of the bundles in the gala store, I used that to get the Still life bundle for 2 bucks and syberia bundle for 3. The humble bundle not too long ago (think it was indie bundle 9?) was excellent - mark of the ninja, fez, ftl, trine 2, bastion, limbo, brutal legend. If you get Origin/deepsilver/thq bundles, indie bundle 9, and october bundle, that's a pretty good jump on a backlog for a Steam Virgin.

I must be getting old, but isn't this the kind of content that would either come with the game, given out free later, or added in by fans (via a modding interface)?

Damn kids! Get offa my lawn!
Yes. There are similar maps as mods too, but I think you can't use them in multiplayer and can't earn achievements using them. :(

Do they need to be bundles or would you like some spare Steam keys? I have a large handful you could have unless you are looking for specific types of games?

My preference would be for complete bundles, but really, a mass of random keys for a few bucks would probably be just fine too. I got him to buy the humble weekly, and the current humble bundle, and he's on the fence for the latest IG. Most of the Trade/Sell thread is jokers trying to sell bundle games for a buck each.

A lot of people don't like the STALKER games because of the gameplay style and difficulty, so if you can overcome that, you're in for what I consider a top 3 game in setting, atmosphere, and story. With the COMPLETE mod, the graphics, music, and sound effects jump into top 10 as well.

I'll have to look into that mod. I don't mind difficult games, so that should be fine. I have Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat just staring me in the face, but I played a whole bunch of fps games in a row and decided I needed a break. Having blasted through the witcher has helped me overcome that a bit.

Most of those bundles are already gone, so getting games like Mirror's Edge for one dollar (and many great indie games for less) is not a bad deal.

PCGAMER: Britain’s most read paper reckons Deus Ex: Human Revolution cybernetic eyeball is real

Deus-Ex-eyeball-610x347.jpg

UK newspaper, The Sun, have included fictional Sarif Industries cyborg eyeball tech in a roundup of “AMAZING GADGETS JUST AROUND CORNER”. Such technology, they say, “is in its infancy now” but “will be commonplace to our grandkids.”

When we spotted a tweet about the article from Good Gaming about the article I had to nip to the local corner shop to see it. Here it is. Page 28, item five in the feature, today’s finest facepalm from Britain’s most popular paper.

I finally beat Mom in Binding of Isaac! Yayyyy...now I just have to beat the next couple levels. These roguelikes are so addicting...binding of isaac, spelunky, ftl. I can play them for hours on end and still be fascinatingly entertained.
