This is about the same for me, when I actually was at the store the clerk didn't see it in the system, but when I called back with the SKU she told me that perhaps their system hadn't updated yet, and to check back tomorrow.

@weegy, thanks for posting the SKU.

I was able to do a web in-store order at my local GS tonight. The console will be shipped to my home for free, but I had to pay the full amount at the time of purchase. Ideally, I rather pick it up in-store, but this works, too.

Called around 11am today, both stores next to me said no preorders yet.  Went in to one of the stores around 6 pm, they said no preorders yet.  Will check back tomorrow morning, afternoon, evening.  Then the next morning, afternoon, evening.  Etc.  Etc.  Until I get my gold console of awesome.

I looked at newegg the minute I knew gamestop was selling this and the only option was to notify me when they had them in stock. I chose that option. They then said it was out of stock. Unless newegg sold their pre-order before I knew about it then it was only a place holder

Well I think someone here said they ordered one at each...so at least it wasn't available for a long period of time. I'd have loved to have ordered from them (no tax, faster shipping), but if it was gone that quickly I can't really kick myself TOO hard over it. Thanks for sharing your experience! Let's hope this was a mistake and their REAL stock becomes available on BF :D

Yup. But it was up for 15 minutes from like 4:45-5 pm central I think, while I was napping :wall: ... Now it says discontinued. I hope amazon gets them even though I would have to pay tax. I'd rather get it release day delivery than have to go hunting it down. But to be honest I would much rather have a smash bros. 3ds system, but who knows if that's going to be made.. never really been much of a zelda guy(i know right) but it does look nice and its limited. I'm a sucker for that stuff. Here's to hoping amazon gets it.

 
I remember lusting after the Final Fantasy III Crystal Edition of the DS Lite. Looking back now, I'ma like, "What the hell was I thinking?" Zelda's not my favorite franchise, but some Zelda games are among my favorite overall--so, I would be happy to pick this up.

 
Just preordered one... I hope they show up for in-store preorders.... i hate getting consoles shipped.

Here's to hoping someone is willing to trade it for a Pikachu 3DS down the line lol

No problem pre ordering it here in CT. 25 bucks down! I asked the clerk and he said that they should be available at every GameStop, but I guess he was just assuming. I mentioned there had been issues with the system not being available for pre order.

I guarantee Nintendo has PLENTY of these ready for holiday. They like money. And some retailer will have 3DS on sale late November and early December. I worked at target last year and the XL's dropped to $160 early December for a week.

there hasn't been a limited edition 3ds console that lasted more than a few weeks.

pikachu, pokemon red/blue, animal crossing, fire emblem, zelda 3ds. All of them are rare now. why would this one be any different?

sure nintendo likes money, that's why in a few months there will be a new special edition.. but people wouldn't buy the special editions if they didn't sell out so that's why they have to make them atleast somewhat rare.

It's possible they would last long enough for a sale, but that's what pricematching and returns are for. There is no downside to buying/preordering now.

So does anyone know any Gamestop coupon codes that will actually work for this?  SAVER as I said before doesn't apply as it's a console.

 
Buying this to go with my Zelda 3DS makes me really want to go back and get the Zelda DS Lite. It's too bad that most of the ones on eBay don't include the damn box and paperwork!

Didn't the Pikachu one have a design of Pikachu's face on the front of the system? This thing is basically just gold with a very light symbol connecting each side. Nothing fancy. Hard to even tell it's anything Zelda at all. I don't see why someone would pay out the ass for this unless they love the color gold or have extreme OCD.

I could see the Pikachu one, because that was a cool design. If this had Link on it somewhere or something like that I could see it.

Gold triforce design on the front, the dark triforce on the back, and the inside has opposite colored buttons, if I remember. Honestly, though, just the gold with the triforce would be enough, so all the extra touches are just icing on the cake and make it even better!

 
Got mine ordered and confirmation email.  Hopefully Amazon or Best Buy will carry these.  My local Gamestop is run by tools.  They gave me so much  fuck when picking up my Pokemon XY order that I returned it and bought it at Best Buy.

 
o.o can you cancel gamestop orders easily? Just in case a more reputable institution gets these in stock and doesn't try to @$%# customers? Maybe a place that doesn't hire hipsters.. :eek: joo known what I mean?!

You most definitely can. You can do it by login into your account and looking at the order details or sending an email requesting cancelation with the order number. It's an easy process. I had to do it back when the New Leaf 3DS XL first showed up at GameStop, but then showed up at Best Buy.

You can easily cancel this online. That's what I did last time with the pokemon x and y.

 
I was able to preorder on this morning. The ganestoo employee tried to tell me it was just a rumor that they were coming out. I had to explain, that no Nintendo announced it yesterday. It'll go nicely with my Zelda WiiU.
 
Glad I got my confirmation from GS.  Waiting on Amazon now.

I'll be selling the digital code for Zelda though, and buying it physical.  So if anyone is interested and wants to jump on that before the fact, let me know!

I see it this way, I dislike Gamestop as a company (their business model, their treatment of employees and naive customers) but I use them when necessary to further my own gaming habits. While I'm willing to give them my money at times, it's only when the deal seems compelling enough (usually the deals we "create" rather than what they offer) and I have absolutely no loyalty to them as a company. If every Gamestop were to close tomorrow, nary a tear would be shed in Etcraneville.

 
I just preordered this at my local gamestop.  And I only needed to put down $25.  Those other GS who doesn't take any preorders are a bunch of dumb assholes!

 
After giving this much thought I went ahead and preordered one from gamestop and got my order confirmation email almost instantly. Money is so tight right now for me but way I see it I just want to be sure to get one and there are so many conflicting stories online about it being a gamestop exclusive and black friday exclusive plus the newegg thing was fishy so I figured it best to just pony up the extra $$$ and lock one in at gamestop. I can always cancel it if I decide to if it comes up at best buy, walmart, or newegg. I really see no way to go wrong on this item either way but only time will tell if it remains as hot as it is starting off. Seems people love zelda stuff and gold colored things and with this 3ds xl your getting the link....I mean, best, of both worlds, lol.

 
When I stopped by Target, the guy said he had heard about the Zelda 3DS XL and was expecting pre-orders to open soon.  But, said that there's nothing official so he can't say for sure.

I'm pretty sure Target won't be doing instore preorders on this. If they do it will be a deposit slip and good luck getting them to hold them
