If you use an Android phone or tablet, the PlayStation App for the PS4 is out now. Though it's not completely useful until the PS4 launch, it is a much faster way to access my trophy list than either the PS3 or Vita.

The trophy rarity stuff is implemented in the PS App. You see four dots under the trophy icon itself and they fill up based on the rarity (1 = common and 4 = ultra rare).

Holy crap, DJ Max Portable 3 has been $40 all this time? Well anyway, it's tempting now at $20. I wonder if this is a test of demand...

Also those new Dustforce avatars look mighty nice. I don't know if those images were used in marketing a lot, but I love when it seems like they show effort.

oh my this trophy rarity thing is going to drive me nuts since at least theoretically it would include everybody that has it on their trophy list, not just people that've signed up for psnprofiles/truetrophies/whatever. goodbye morning productivity.

Wish Catherine was getting an extra discount for PS+ subscribers, but $13.XX may just be cheap enough for me to give it a shot. I enjoyed the demo.
I'm playing it now and really enjoying it. I will say it's quite difficult as you get further in, though. I've died sooo many times trying to figure out how to handle certain types of situations.

Yup, I have my PSN games sorted by PS1 Classics/PS1 Classics (PS+)/PS2 Classics/PSN Completed/PSN Completed (PS+)/PSN Not Completed/PSN Not Completed (PS+)

Took a while the first time I set them all up, but there's an auto-predict feature on the PSN keyboard screen which makes it go quite a bit quicker. It was well worth the time investment.
Wait...how do you do this?

And does this carry over to the download list or anything useful like that? I'm not sure where this is showing up, but I absolutely hate the way PSN organizes things and the inability to have the download list parse out demos, PS3 games, Vita games, etc..

Early PS4 game reviews not looking very great guys...

Edit: More specifically Knack, Killzone, and Contrast.

Aren't PSNProfiles' numbers based on everybody and not just people signed up on their site? I always thought they were. Off to download this app now.

rarity is nice, but I wish it was handled with percentages the way Steam offers up comparative achievements.
looks like the PS app has rarity percentages too if that's what you mean

PlayStation app is live on the iOS App Store now as well.

Hmm...

So, for some reason Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon isn't part of the Ubisoft sale.

That's messed up, wasn't that on sale for $7.50 on 360 back in September?

fuck ing Ubisoft.

Probably true but there seem to be quite a few sites (GameSpot, Eurogamer, Joystiq and Kotaku) who are bashing Killzone at this point. Not the end of the world as the game still looks amazing which is what's its main function is suppose to be.

It was on sale for like $7.50ish on PS3 in August.

Yeah, if you read the comments there (on most of their reviews) it seems like only people who agree with their review and score are posting. That's not a coincidence, it's more because they basically delete/ban comments that overtly disagree with their reviews.

Yeah it hasn't gotten the absolute best reviews (which isn't all that surprising, Killzone is not that amazing of a series) but once again Polygon is 20+ points below the Metacritic average.*

I mean yeah as quickly as they banned me, they must have a few guys just hovering over the comments waiting to drop the hammer.

Polygon said that the Xbone version of Killzone would get a 10.

Also, Engadget had an article saying that the Sony dev team plans to add MP3, CD, and possibly DLNA via something called a "patch." Anyone know what that is? Does that mean they're going to attempt to add features after the system launches? It's like we're in the future!

You're right, it was $7.34 for PSN+ members, but $10.49 for non members.

I can't bring myself to do PSN+, as I have too many games already, and I know it'll go to waste (other than sales).

The only time I've ever been banned/warned on a website was by Phil Kollar when he was at Game Informer. Their 2 female reviewers both left and they were introducing 2 new guys, both with extremely long womanly hair. So I made a joke about that and was very quickly messaged by Phil telling me next time it would be a ban.

Phil (who also sports some lucious girly locks) is now at Polygon I believe. I think he probably enjoys reigning down hellfire on commentors he doesn't agree with.

Patching should be a core feature moving forward.

No doubt. They are eager to protect their "integrity". Although, for the most part their technical gripes are on point and the rest of the review is what it is (subjective in nature). That said, there is an inherent bias towards all things Sony.

I'm just excited to see Dead Rising 3 get an unprecedented 11/10 from them. "Despite an unstable but easily overlookable framerate when more than 3 zombies are on the screen at the same time, Dead Rising 3 is the best thing since the creation of the universe"

Also, the only thing I really want them to patch in is to be able to use Paypal on the PS Store.

Wow, that seems a bit harsh on his part. And yeah, Phil left Game Informer to be the reviews editor at Polygon.

So I caved and got Beyond Good & Evil less than 18 hours after I told myself I didn't need it. I just figured if I saw it in a store at this price, I would drop a three dolla bill (y'all) on it, so why the hell not.

I'm so weak...

KZ scores are breaking my heart, but at the same time the majority of them are centered on the SP and we all knew that was going to be subpar.  I only want it for the MP and as long as they didn't screw that up (which they very well could have) I'll be having fun with it this weekend.

FWIW, Game Informer is holding their review until Friday so they can play more of the MP.  Stupid that a game that is focused around MP is bashed this hard when the only MP experience any of the reviewers had was a few hours at a private event hosted by Guerilla.

So, people are upset that Polygon gave a more terrible score... than all the other terrible scores? K. And, why has no one demanded the heads of the other outlets that tanked the Knack average (that Polygon beat, btw)? Be consistent, at least. And @backlog_overlord, any site would have deleted that comment, so not sure what your point is.

Just downloaded the PS app to my phone, and it's awesome! You can check and send messages, see who's online, masturbate over your trophy count, etc. Have been wanting something like this for the longest. The "link to PS4" tab teases me.

So not even a brief mention of the OWL system in the Polygon review? I read a few other reviews first and that sounded like a very cool feature of the gameplay.

I'm not saying it didn't deserve to be deleted. I actually agree that it did. I was just stating I was surprised with how fast they banned me without warning. Almost instantly. Chill :)

I'm still probably going to spend time on other trophies sites like psnprofiles as any trophy that is out of the way, like collecting collectables even if they are easy could become ultra rare.
yeah, the new Sony rarity percentages are more of an interesting gut check against trophy sites. that 0.4% germinator trophy is like 1.5% on psnprofiles - so it reads more like '0.4% of people who have played germinator got this trophy, but 1.5% of people who give a shit about trophies and this site got it'.

I dunno, it's fun. I like stuff like this, weird little stats. I'll definitely keep using the 3rd party sites, but I'll get a kick out of the rarity icons if they're on the ps4 trophy list when I look at it.
