Minimum $100 Gift Card for PS3 or XBOX @ BB

Not that I agree with trading in like 10 broken consoles, but have you seen the employees who work at Best Buy? Never helpful, too busy joking amongst each other to answer a question. They just don't give a shit. It's ridiculous really.

I would feel bad for the customer who bought it second hand, but if Best Buy isn't even checking to see if these consoles work, then that's their fault and they deserve the shit that comes with it.

It's funny how some are acting like Best Buy is doing us some favor, as if their not doing this promotion to make money.
Work at a retail store and deal with the kind of people who trade in broken xbox's all day and you too will probably have a terrible view of your job. I think I held my own decently when I was in retail, but I can see why people would crack. Low pay, terrible hours, and helping a mixture of normal people and jerks? It gets to you.

Is the company at fault for this? Ultimately yes, but the workers are usually just normal people.

I understand. I worked in retail when I was younger and it does suck.

But still, if you're not gonna do your job or you hate doing it, just quit. Then again I'm in Miami, and poor service is a normal thing down here.

I'm tempted to bring in my 160GB PS3 today since I've probably only played 5-6 games on it since I bought it 3 years ago. It's sort of just collecting dust except for when I play Blu Rays on it.

The main thing holding me back is that it currently has a $70 base trade in value which would only really profit $30 which is pretty lousy compared to the $96 profit I made from my 360. It's dumb reasoning, but that's what's in my head.

EXACTLY how I feel. I also feel like I haven't gotten my $300 use of it since 3 years ago, so I can't really justify trading it in lol.

Haha. Luckily, I think I only paid maybe $160-$180 for it off of Craigslist, so I'd like to think I got my $60-$80s worth from playing the God of Wars, LBPs, Uncharteds and Last of Us.

I think I might just do it! I mean, it certainly isn't worth shit sitting on my table and I don't see myself really playing ANYTHING else on it again... I don't have the AV cables for it but I'll assume they'll take an HDMI cable instead.

Store in Bayshore NY said they will not look at the system unless it was bought at best buy. This sounds wrong.

Haven't turned on my 360 in a while. Just turned it on to test it out and the disc drive won't open. Any tips? They won't take it in this condition, right?

Some stores require a receipt that you bought it at BBY because of local pawn laws. The BBY store locator will tell you if the store requires a receipt.

They don't check if it can read Games, so no. You can trade it in like that. Just hope they don't accidentally press the eject button lol.

I did fix it. It was just stuck from not being turned on in a while. Put a pen tip inbetween the tray and the console to separate the tray from the bottom.

Bought 3 at the pawn shop for $200 and took them to BB. They checked them out and they all worked fine and told me I could keep the controllers. Nice $100 profit plus whatever I can get for the controllers(They look awful).

Ok. I am lost. Someone gave me an Xbox some months ago. Runs perfect. How do I go about transferring games when I don't have a second 360? Also, what all do I need to do to wipe the hard drive?

Can any gurus give me a to-do list?

Do you have the accounts with the transfer license?

That's all you need.

When you get your second xbox just transfer the license to the one that you got and redownload.

And yeah just wipe the hard drive, i'm sure they do that regardless.

Well I traded in my 40 gig ps3 today. 90 dollars in bonus credit. Loved this deal. Plus my bestbuy is selling the 6 unclaimed ps4 pre orders tomorrow. Also, yes my ps3 worked perfectly. Thanks again OP!

It's my account. So, all I have to do is wipe the HD, then I can re-download stuff later? Or, do I have to do something to the license to transfer it before trading the console in? Not getting another 360 till BF.

Traded in my old non-HDMI 360 no problem today.  Took the $100 GC and flipped it for $100 in Amazon gift cards.  Great deal.

I got $158 for my ps3, a controller, and a few games (GTA 5, MLB 13, BF 3, GOW3). I ended up using that and a $5 reward zone gc that BB emailed to me to get $175 worth of Amazon gc's for $12 out of pocket

Just traded in my 160GB PS3 and CoD Ghosts for $142. Not too shabby. I couldn't find my AV cables for the PS3 so I just brought it with an HDMI cord and the guy said not to worry about it and let me keep my cord.

I also noticed that they were checking the 360s to see if they could connect to the internet now. They weren't when I brought mine in the few days ago. I'm glad they're checking so they don't get screwed.

It doesn't matter if you wipe the hd or not,

when you get your new console just license to transfer on your account, and thats it, the old console doesn't play a role at all.

I had the same question like two days ago

Anyone know if they'll take a pass code locked 360? I bought it used for $40 last year and I have no idea how to get past the pass code. This would be a good way to get it off my hands.

This is such a bad deal for BB, especially with all the faulty and dying systems they are getting. They might be bankrupt sooner than I thought.

My Elite Xbox cleared. Had everything, from sealed manuals, to every bag for the accessories and console. Even left in the headset.

It was just that pesky disc tray that would open only if you banged on top of it. They tested it too so I guess they were satisfied.

I hate best buy so much, I waited in the customer service line for 20 minutes, the woman told me to wait in the geek squad line and was a real bitch about it, so I did that for over an hour. When I get up to the counter he says "why did you wait in line? they've been doing these trade ins at the customer service desk all day." So that was awesome. Really need to avoid best buy like the plague in the future.

Also got pulled over on the way home for an illegal turn violation which will cost me $140. Needless to say, I regret my decision to take part in this deal.

think of it this way your ticket will only cost you $40

win/win

They took my Arcade 360 (with a hard drive that I put on it) without a controller today.  Glad about the controller as I still like using that on the PC.

Also traded in a bunch of old games.  Got over $500 in trade after three systems and games because of the 100% trade in bump deal.

Very glad to have gotten rid of a bunch of old stuff.

Got $100 for a used 360 even though they aren't worth that much, wouldn't have gotten a ticket if he didn't make an illegal turn.

win/lose

Bought the 360 for $140 with like 20 games and an extra controller, so I basically got GTA 5 and some other crappy games and a controller for free after the stuff I traded in.

And in my defense on the ticket, it was raining and crappy out and I thought I had a green turn arrow but I was sadly mistaken lol.

Successfully traded in an arcade 512mb Xbox 360. I tried to keep the controller but they said it had to be turned in with the console. They tried to give me crap about the missing hard drive cover, but in the end they still took it like that. That console had cost me about $80 new from target a couple years ago, so nice to get more for it than I paid when new. I had not used that console in over a year, so no loss there. Still have a slim 360 for a few dozen Games I haven't even started to play. Probably won't be getting a next-gen console in a long time, if ever, going with a pc this time.

I have a fully functional 60GB PS3. It's the fat original one. Should I trade it in, or do y'all think I can get a better offer elsewhere? I've seen on ebay that most people are selling theirs for roughly $100 -$150 but they include a crap load of games. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

you only have 1-2 hours to decide depending on where you live ,before bestbuy closes.

I would trade it. You're living on borrowed time my friend.

Don't do it. If I remember correctly, those are the backwards compatible ones and should go for more than $100.

Yes... you have a point. It's definitely cool that it's backwards compatible. But want to know the last time I used that feature??? Probably sometime in 2006. Also, this thing is a beast. It heats up the entire room and is entirely too loud to watch movies while the thing is on. I'm leaning towards selling it, but keep the suggestions coming ;)

Having been a victim (though that may not be the most appropriate term by some) of having my console banned during the "Region Fiasco" (as I like to call it) a couple months back, the thing has been sitting there as a brick since I don't like earning achievements offline (thus lacking the timestamp).  I heard about this deal via a friend and I figured "why not give it a shot"?.

So I brought it in a few days ago and was able to sell it just fine (dumbing down the story I had started typing here).  All they did was hook it up to their TV, turn it on then off after like 10 seconds.  Didn't even use my controller for anything...then they went through the checkout process.  There was a minor screwup with the register at customer service, but they were able to bring it to another general register to complete the transaction.

Without the promotion, would have earned $41 but they bumped it up 59 bucks to get me to 100.  It was one of those 4GB Slims you get with a Kinect, had the thing since 2010..=/ miss it but nothing can be done about that now.  Couldn't sell it to Gamestop, probably wouldn't get anything worthwhile from someone online so...either let it collect dust or get rid of it (now I'm a game collector, so I'm all about holding onto my stuff...but this...different situation).

Anyways...no finger-printing, they did require ID/phone number/address...but that's about it.

Now...the "Region Fiasco" is what I call the situation where various games were showing up free on the Xbox Live Marketplace from countries that don't support a marketplace (Bosnia, Morocco, etc.).  It was widespread...as far as I can tell, "condemned" over here by CAGs.  Lots of controversy on whether or not people would actually get banned since the proposed incidents were by people who did other illegal crap...but then Microsoft swung that banhammer and I was one of many to lose their console.  A friend of mine lost his gamertag as well...250K gamerscore and hundreds if not thousands of dollars in content lost in an instant (stuff attached to that account through the download history).  I was lucky that it was only my console that suffered...needless to say, I don't bother with ANYTHING that's free in other countries now .__. screw that man.  I still buy things though using my credit card in Japan, getting the Dead Rising Case Zero and Case West that way (japanese releases, stacked gamerscore yeah!) then the Metal Gear Rising VR missions DLC from the UK.

So me selling this "banned Xbox" to Best Buy might seem like a "terrible thing" to some but I had to get rid of it.  I'm not buying up Xboxes for cheap and bringing them to BB.  Just that one.  If I could, I'd try my old Elite but it suffers the E74 error and never hits the dashboard when it is turned on.  So I highly doubt they'd take it.  Anyways, after I successfully sold my Xbox I told some folks who also suffered from the Region Fiasco that they can at least do something with their banned boxes now if they wished.  This promotion is a great thing for me and some others...glad it came about.

Now I can use this gift card towards a PS3 bundle this Friday and catch up with all the sony games I've missed out on.  Not my first time owning a PS3 but it's my first time playing one in about 4 years.  I loved my PS1 and PS2...also I still have another 360 (old white model I'm currently playing on).  Ahem...my rather lengthy post aside, thank you Best Buy!

Got the $100.   $32 for GTA V (just missed the $36 deal) and a few dollars from some older games.   However, they didn't accept my Skyrim Legendary Edition.   I searched the game on their online database and only the regular edition came up.   I wonder why that is.
