This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Forgot if I posted this here.. The tracking info for the Steam Machine says it weighs 35lbs.. some people contacted Valve asking why it weighs so much, and got a response back saying they don't want to kill the suspense. I think it's obvious there's something extra included with it, but I don't know what.
~24" display to use it with or one of these

also, today's deal is GTA IV (not complete) + San Andreas at 75% off ($8.74). No individual GTA games are on sale. It seems weird to me to bundle them this way.

GoG has their little voting thing up for tomorrow's deal and one of the choices (and currently in the lead) is:

Baldur's Gate 1-2, Neverwinter Nights 1-2, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale 1-2, The Temple of Elemental Evil, Dragonshard, Demonstone for around 21 dollars.

Doesn't say if it includes the expansions Tales of the Sword Coast (BG1), Throne of Bhaal (BG2), or the plethora of Neverwinter expansions. If it does include all of those, it isn't a bad deal considering their regular bundle is usually 20 but I don't think it typically includes the Neverwinter games or Dragonshard or Demonstone.

Only games I REALLY want from the collection are digital versions of BG 1 and 2, ID 1 and 2, and Planescape. Getting the rest is gravy. Temple of Elemental Evil is actually a pretty decent dungeon romp.
Sorry for the late reply, but all GOG versions are complete with expansions and bonuses.

The GamersGate "complete" pack are basically the GOG versions, but repackaged and without bonuses.

Also, in regards to the CAG Secret Santa - I'm afraid I'll have to pass on that. But... I have something else planned for this and two other sites.

You'll see. YOU'LL ALL SEE. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Oh, ain't that the truth.

I did like Sid Meier's Pirates remake, but there wasn't really many great pirate games. That was a game to kick around for 10 hours - then, just go away once it begins to feel repetitive.
Age of Pirates: CT wasn't that great, either - too repetitive. After a few hours, I was done w/ it.

While I liked Risen 2 quite a damn bit, it just wasn't spectacular. PB just ain't done a ground-breaking masterpiece RPG since Gothic 1, IMHO. I have this feeling for me, they'll never top Gothic 1.

Oh, I definitely want to play that, too.

But, I probably should play AC3 first.

Plus, I'll probably have an interest in seeing how soime of the AC4 Season Pass content turns out, as well.

I think I can wait a bit, before scooping up AC4 + Season Pass - likely, when they get MUCH cheaper. ;)

EDIT:

Me too!

I'm currently in the midst of Far Cry 3 - so everything else is on "hold", for now.

Dragonborn's in the backlog (since it hit that magic 75% off), for now - I really want the other Skyrim DLC's!
I never played much of the remake, but I can strongly recommend the original (Sid Meyer's) Pirates! The Gold edition is available on GOG. I played that one on-and-off for a decade.

Completely agree here. My mom got it for me for my birthday when i was a teen...it was soooo much fun for, like you said, about ten hours. Then you go...oh...this is all you do...
Again, might consider giving the original Pirates! a try.

I wonder how my wallet's going to be at the steam winter sale. I didn't buy much from the autumn sale, and have found my hands require the inferior controller for a lot of games due to cramping hands trying to play PC games for too long. But maybe I should put aside my shopping ways to buy a controller. At least I may be able to snag Dark Souls (Missed it in Autumn sale :p)
Sounds like you have either a 360 or PS3... wired 360 controllers are the easiest. There is a wireless receiver you can use for the wireless ones (no data through their charging cable, fyi). PS3 controllers are trivial to get working with just a mini usb cable or a $2 bluetooth dongle and MotionInJoy+BetterDS3 (This also allows easy emulation of DirectInput for older games, e.g. San Andreas.)

I still say wait for the collection to go on sale for 5 bucks again at gamersgate or gamestop
While GS had a great price for DD & NWN, I can't recommend stand-along downloads from GS (anymore).

The only thing that keeps me from doing that is, GOG's stuff always works. I can see there being issues with other site's versions.

Also, question about Secret Santa: What happens in the unlikely event NONE of the games on their wish list goes for less than $5?
I own the GG D&D Anthology, they are GOG repacks without the extra goodies. What Foxhack said. That said I owned those well before GOG did their $20 D&D pack... which is certainly attractive for the warm fuzzies of active GOG support.

Good suggestion, for the most part - especially on GG, since it's DRM-FREE there.

The only thing is - I think GOG currently has the only version of NWN2: Complete that's totally DRM-FREE.

EDIT:

GG has NWN2: Complete w/ Securom and other DRM - ewww.
I had done a ton of digging into this... unfortunately I can't fully remember, I'd have to go google-fishing. But I believe that is correct.

Low grade radioactive waste.

Pretty sure both NWN games were up for sale pretty damn cheap in that Insomnia promotion GOG had.

Might've missed your chance...but as you said, probably won't be playing them anytime soon anyway

Edit: This reminds me how badly I need to play BG2 and Planescape Torment. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY GAMES
The Insomnia sale does not exist in my world... unless it is some sale that I can check in at specific times (e.g. even the steam 6-hour flash sales) it's dead to me.

Very weird, as spoder just pointed out, I'm up to 117,200 profiles views, adding almost 47k views in the last two days.
I don't understand...
<resumes chasing her tail>

You should put some ads up on your profile page. With how many views you're getting, you'd be getting all of these GOG packs for free anyway!

Edit: Holy shit.. You were at 85k last I checked.. Now you're at 117k?!
Those are awesome! I especially like mine!
Thanks!!!

While changing my pic I just noticed that I have 70,666 profile views... weird.

Oh yaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!!! Thank you so much MNS! This made my day.

CAG BINGO!

If you previously signed up for CAG Bingo, get your butt to the Steam group and participate, 5 days til the Winter Sale!
Just posted - I think in terms of prizes we should have a low buy-in and the winner gets the pot. He then has to buy a game with it and tell us what he got and why, so we can all tell him he picked the wrong game and is an idiot for not getting it in a previous bundle two and half years ago.

It's getting hard for me to keep up with the thread with the holidays and all; had to skim the last three pages. I'll do my best. Love all the community cheer and giveaways, though! I'll try to come up with a good way of my own to give back before the season is over.

Don't let the Squirrel read this. He has a blood vendetta against TLOU. I enjoyed it on the otherhand.
I don't hate the game as much as I seem to, I just don't believe it in anyway deserves as high praise as it deserves. As exceptionally as the storytelling, characters, and graphics (for consoles) is, the gameplay is equally mediocre and as I've said before on here, it's hard for me to fully recommend a game when the best parts are when you aren't playing.

Everybody here talking about how terrible the shooting mechanics are is a real bummer though. I keep telling myself that it can't be THAT bad...
Not everyone, it's mainly just me, so you can probably rest easy on that one.

Have you thought about maybe getting a better mouse? It seems trivial until you use one that's actually ergonomically designed, then you wonder why you waited so long in the first place (speaking form experience). As far as controllers, I know you recently got a PS3 so you could use MotionJoy+BetterDS3 like ashes suggested, or the xinput wrapper someone created which would be my first suggestion (I prefer motionjoy stay far away from my PC after experiencing quite a few unpleasant errors after installing it). A wired 360 controller is hands down the easiest and most widely supported option though, and they go on sale pretty regularly if you keep an eye out (I can also recommend a RockCandy third party 360 controller + a set of cheap stick covers). If you want to go controller only, it would also be worth checking out stuff like Joy2Key and Pinnacle Game Profiler, which lets you remap keyboard and mouse controls to a gamepad.

this was made and ported by platinum so i doubt it's gonna have any bearing on the rest of the series

bayonetta tho? i'd play that again
Vanquish really deserves a PC port.

I don't know... CheapLikeAFox is just shy of 7k... and he's our OG GalaPusha.

I was mostly making the post so I can keep track of this weirdness.

Great point on the mouse... the thought that one wouldn't have a nice mouse escaped me. You don't need anything too pricey. Everyone has their own preference; mine is the Logitech G400s.

Pixel Piracy has been greenlit and you can download the full version through a torrent given by the developer and yes that is a legal source.
With all the current pirate games talk I searched the Steam thread and founds this. Guess I missed it the first time around (or more likely forgot that I saw it) so thanks for the info and link. I love me some pirate games!

This is easy.....she's a chick that posts on a male dominated GAMING forum. I would imagine a majority of the guys on here never leave the house..let alone talk to a female.

This was the best option for me:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=59385385&postcount=102

It makes Windows automatically detect your PS3 controller as a 360 controller.

The downside is there's limited UI/settings you can use compared to something like MotionJoy, but since I always turn 360 controller emulation on anyway, I prefer it. It also overtakes your current Bluetooth driver, so I think you can't use it in combination with other Bluetooth devices/drivers.. but Motionjoy does the same thing, along with any other xinput wrapper.

The upside is it's extremely streamlined, no need to adjust anything and nothing to fuck up Windows.

Note that if you use a 360 controller AND a PS3 controller, you'll have to go through this process so that games won't detect the 360 controller as the "2nd player" when you're in a game:

Create 2 .CMD files in notepad. One with the text "sc start DS3Service", and another with "sc stop DS3Service". Launch the 2nd file whenever you want the 360 controller to be the primary. Launch the first file to use your PS3 controller again.

Several CAGs report a good experience with that. Nice illustrated instructions on that GAF post. I've never used it myself. I use the DirectInput and remapping made easy with BetterDS3 a fair bit.

The origin of that is at PCSX2.

Yeah, being a girl would get her a lot of of views, but not 10k+ per day.
Yeah i'm leaning more toward a site glitch or something...If she got hundreds of views per day purely because she's a girl, it wouldn't surprise me really

But i'd find anything over five hundred or so a bit hard to believe

then again i don't really now what the site traffic is like here, or if guest views get recorded

caught me.

ashekitty is self explanatory, and as previously mentioned i guess bisexuals just gotta thang fo squirrels

murderous santas need love too
This is creepy. My profile has 49,051 views and I hardly ever post anything.

I'm not even a ginger. Or a chick.

And viewing my own profile doesn't make the count go up.

Is this what a password hacking attempt would look like?

The 3 visitors today didn't change the count.

I'm sort of imagining you completely misunderstanding the way the internet works, and hanging out in front of Spoder's house Tuesday morning waiting for the delivery man to come dressed as Spiderman with antlers on.
Why would the delivery man be dressed as Spiderman with antlers on?

I can't wait for Metal Gear Rising to come to PC so I can wait a year until it hits 75%. Then I can buy it and put it into my backlog where I'll never, ever play it! So excited!
The thing is - I actually *do* want to play this.

Never played a game from Platinum before.

Nice mouse, that. I'm using the G400, and I quite like it, though every once in awhile I look wistfully at the MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 sitting on the shelf behind me.
