Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

I haven't sold on ebay in a while so I can't say anything about that.

I do sell on Amazon a lot and here's the rundown:

Fees are high and the best way to sort of reduce them is to do the Professional Seller plan which is $40 a month. This plan is only good if you plan to sell more than 40 items a month because you pay $40 for the month, but then you don't pay the $1 per item fee you usually do. So if you sell say 100 items, you save $60 bucks.

For most media items, Amazon predetermines the shipping fees. For CDs it is up to $3.99. I think DVDs it is $3.99 and games it is $3.99 . This is for the basic shipping method (Media mail for CDs/DVDs and First Class for Games). You can buy shipping through the Amazon site which is quick and easy and First Class is usually the cheapest option for everything below 13 ounces and your customers are happier. You can also offer expedited shipping and they give you a little more for that ($6.99). Of course, Amazon doesn't give you the money, it's what the customer pays so you have to take that into account when setting your price.

So for examples of the fees/take home in a non-professional account:

$2.99 game plus $3.99 shipping = $4.19 after fees (and yes Amazon takes fees out of the shipping too)

Then it was $2.62 to ship it, so I netted $1.57 after everything. This was something I just wanted to get rid of.

$10.64 game plus $6.99 expedited shipping = $13.69 after fees.

To ship it was $5.12 so I netted $8.57 so it was a lot better compared to the cheaper item.

Back when I used ebay I found the fees to be a little less, but it was a lot more hassle for me.

Amazon tends to have a bigger number of consumers and I sell stuff quicker/more regularly. It's fine for anything $10 or above, it's just that below $10 is where it gets into the "not worth it" territory unless you are a pro seller or want to get rid of stuff.

Can anyone recall such a strange discount (55%) on daily/flash/community in past sales? I don't.

(I remember my anger and disappointment at widespread 60% discounts in Autumn, or was it Summer.
Far Cry: Blood Dragon was 55% off (by mistake) during this year's Summer Sale. It was only supposed to be 40% off during its flash sale, and this was fixed before it expired.

I was pointing out that your maths is wrong. You don't get one card per vote, you get one card per three votes - so instead of 3x14x4=168 cards, you'd only get 14x4=52 cards from voting.
On one account, I get three votes per day. The sale runs for 14 days. That's 42 (3 x 14) cards.

Now multiply that by four, because I'm doing this on my main and three others. 42 x 4 = 168.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Detruire is trying to inform you that you get 1 card per 3 votes; i.e. for a single account you will get 3 votes / day, thus 1 card / day... 14 days = 14 cards.

Multiply that by your 4 accounts, and you get 56 cards.

And now you know why I was never any good at math.

I'm gonna go and I dunno, work at a factory sewing buttons or something now.

Ah yes, right, I remember that! I guess that's kinda confirmation though of the 55% not actually existing until now (unless they really meant 40% off Shadowrun Returns )

If games have taught me anything, it's that edutainment works!

Typing of the Dead made me a better typer, Oregon Trail made me a better decision maker, and Nintendogs made me a better pet owner.

Let's all improve our math skills together with Air Forte!

If I buy Toki Tori 2 it will be in the next Humble Bundle.
then buy it so i dont have to

i bought monaco. i've already made my requisite bundle gods sacrifice

that squeenix bundle you've been blabbering on about for eons will never happen if you dont show your devotion

Worse, bundle fodder you can hang onto... Winter cards just go poof on 3 Jan.
January 3rd is bundle fodder

If the logic stands, I should probably go ahead and buy Seduce Me, then

I was thinking the other games in the pack with Toki Tori 2 had cards, but they do not, so generating extra copies to gift to my wife's account wouldn't result in additional cards, so... also waiting for a bundle now.

And StarCraft taught me the importance of constructing additional pylons. ^_~

Yeah... definitely sounds like a higher fee. I think eBay still generally offers free or really cheap listing fees as long as you don't sell/list tons of shit, which I never have. And I think their final value fee is still only around 15%. I usually sell items and factor shipping into the item cost while offering $0.01 shipping. Kind of sneaks around higher fees. I just wish I could figure out what's up with the search...

I hope Alice wins. I've been wanting to play that for a while and I've dropped more money for uglier women. Plus she's kinda goth-looking and...well...you know what they say about goths and lettuce...
And guys get pissed off when woman choose sports teams by the pretty colors on their helmets, yet men superficially buy their games using this logic?? I'm truly confused:

There already was a Two Tribes Humble Weekly about 5-6 months ago.  I'm thinking TT2 would be in the next numbered Humble but… at what tier?!?!

If you offer free shipping then you automagically get a five star rating on shipping. Offering free shipping also gives you a better search ranking - supposedly. Better safe than sorry.

Also eBay charges money for the sale AND the shipping cost now so I just offer free shipping instead.

And the normal eBay take is 10% for videogames.

They're actually due for a Humble Weekly now. Puppy Games had one and they've only released four games on Steam, same as the Toki Tori dev.

Also, new user title.

I don't think HIB has enough tier consistency to actually make a decent guess.

I completely forgot about that one.

You know, wouldn't it be funny if Toki Tori 2 ended up in the current Humble Bundle? Since it has an Android version?

Damn it.  It's like the GOG sale all over again.

'You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day.'

Brilliant. That would be a total sock in the nuts. That said I didn't even put in the $1 tier on that and someone gave me a Hero Academy key. I doubt I'd BTA unless there was another solid game added along with TT2.

Wasn't I supposed to give you a key for that? Or was that something else?

The fees on shipping was why I did penny shipping. Somehow they ramped up the fees when you used free shipping, it was odd but it was a pretty dramatic difference between free shipping and penny shipping. I started with free shipping, switched to penny shipping when I studied the fees on my sales, and saved a lot of money on the switch. I always use First Class Mail along with penny shipping and I don't think I ever had any rating issues.

And they're targeting the suckers who play F2P* games.

*Path of Exile excluded, due to cosmetic-only pay stuff.
I would argue that for the most part the games with winter sale item drops are generally well made. I think your F2P hatred is misguided.

At this point I feel the voting has to be rigged. The game that should have gotten the least amount of votes won.
We are a sample of the most out of touch steam users in existence. Millions of users vote on these things, many of whom rarely use Steam but are more active now because there's a big sale. FTL is a well-regarded game that a lot of people who don't spend their spare time posting here and watching for the next indie bundle likely don't have. It makes a lot of sense that FTL would win. We just have a wildly skewed perspective on what the average user wants.

Back to CAG Santas, Psydero got his gift today, and I haven't received mine yet.  But that's probably because I put new indies that are only 50% off so far at the top of my wishlist.

Don't vote for Mafia II. It's almost always a daily.
Not sure if sarcasm. The last time it was a daily, the DLC wasn't discounted.

http://www.steamgamesales.com/EHaUg/mafia-ii

The other deals suck in comparison to Mafia II. Amazon usually has good deals for the complete pack for Alice, and who doesn't have Waking Mars?

Besides, even if it is a daily, it's not guaranteed the DLC will be discounted. Best to have it as a deal twice to raise the chances of the DLC being on sale.

Not that I recall. I think it was something else… that I can't remember… Mac Droid? Or was that someone else?
I don't remember either, and the forum's godawful search isn't helping.

Eh. I dunno then. I always list everything with free shipping, every time I don't I get no sales...
