Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]

Mmh just noticed the AC4 Black Flag : Season Pass is $9.99 on Uplay Store.. 50% off. I dunno if the code can simply be used on the Steam version but I'm guessing since your game show up in Uplay you could apply the code on it.

Just not sure even at 10$ if it's worth the extra 3 hours gameplay time.. anyone can say how much the Adewale Missions added to their enjoyment of the game ?
What DLCs are included in Season Pass?

Nixxes has been doing fantastic ports for Square Enix & Eidos w/ proper features - yeah, and then some! - in their PC versions of Tomb Raider 2013, Hitman: Absolution, Sleeping Dogs, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution (original version), TR: Anniversary, TR: Underworld, TR: Legend, etc etc.

They're also doing the Thief Reboot PC port.

You can see what they've ported here.
I usually abhor being "that guy" but I just have to chime in on this one.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution ran like garbage when it was first released. There was a widespread stuttering issue which was incredibly annoying, and for myself and many others it rendered it pretty much unplayable, irrespective of the power of your rig.

IIRC the issue was even reported on various game news sites. I rented the 360 version to compare and it ran perfectly, albeit at an understandably lower frame rate.

I had to shelve it until the patch a month or two down the line resolved it (and quite perfectly), but it's hard to accurately convey my own bitterness and disappointment at the time.

The first DX is one of my favorite games ever and I loved the oft-maligned Invisible War nearly as much; this was something I had been looking forward to for 8 years. Cutscenes and boss fights notwithstanding, the poor performance was a telling sign of Square Enix's rush to release.

I will end my pointless and unconstructive diatribe without complaining about the quality of the game itself. Though on the whole I did enjoy it.

That said, I didn't play Sleeping Dogs until more than a year after release but it ran beautifully, without a single hitch. Can't speak to the other games, so maybe it was a singular, crushing misstep.

What DLCs are included in Season Pass?
Uplay shop says "Score all of the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag DLC packs for just $20. That’s a 20% savings over the individual pack prices.".. so basically you're supposed to get ALL DLCs that are otherwise sold individually. But it does make me wonder what other DLCs might come out later and if those will be included.. I hope so with the "all" description.

So far there has been a Blackbeard multiplayer pack and a single player story about Adewale is all that has come out so far. I don't think they have said what the others will be yet.

Edit: oh yea I think there are some ship upgrades tgrown in and maybe the "make all side quests and items show up on your map dlc".

I think "ALL" is wrong I'm not sure the Aveline pre-order bonus is part of the season pass, but I can't tell for sure since I did pre-order.

y u no read? I wrote about it before. Competent brawler, skill trees, stat points. It has more depth in combos that it appears. I recommend it. I liked it solo. It should be fun with friends too. (up to 4 player net-play).
y u no pink?

As EC going away... I'll be sad to see it go, as someone pointed out any sale is better than no sale, but I can understand Amazon's/Tony's frustration in not getting publishers... Minus UPlay, which only has one game in EC, I'm pretty sure I bought something from ever publisher involved, and I'll get all my coupons used... and could actually have used an extra one or so.

As for next year... I'm sure Tony will have something to fill the void left by EC. :)

It's not part of it but it's not a DLC you can Purchase on it's own either. Only for Pre-order and Gold Owners.

As far as I can tell (I own the base and Season pass) pretty much everything except the Aveline DLC and the pay2win stuff (ie unlock all the locations/upgrades now, get free sugar and rum if you pay $1.99, etc).

All of the pre-order bonus stuff, save Aveline, was rolled into the Illustrious Pirates Pack which was added to the Season pass.

Of course the main draw is probably the Freedom Cry DLC.

Well I have played the Aveline preorder pack and it's nothing special. Three missions on a linear island and the story isn't that special.

Is this promotion over?I have some coupons left but they don't work.I even bought Tomb Raider just now because I was sure that I am buying it for 3.99 and I payed 8.99.

All right off topic...

I just finished Attack on Titan last night, and thought it was great. Does anyone have a suggestion of what I should watch next. I'm not picky on the subbed vs dubbed ones.

No, it's not over. If that's the case, a mistake was made, you should contact customer service.

Of course, it's always possible you may have had less coupons than you thought, as well.

The promo is until the 31st so if you really have some coupons left one should have applied to your Tomb Raider purchase. Check your e-mails about it to make sure you're not mistaken and call Amazon support if you really have a problem, they should be able to fix this for you.

Yeah, I think that can be off sometimes. How much do you have left? Mine says 35.00, implying I would theoretically have 7 coupons left (35/5 = 7), but I know I don't have that many. I started with 9 coupons, and I've used 4

As has been stated several times, do NOT pay that 'credit' any attention. It is typically comprised of any and all PCDD offers, such as F2P in game rewards and such, some of which are not even mentioned on sale pages when items are bought. If you need to know how many EC credits you have, either count up your applicable PCDD purchases from 11/21/13-12/31/13 (via your Amazon account or emails), read your promo email you should have received around 1/3-4/14 or contact CS.

Georgia/Light Salmon can only mean, I hear what you have to say, but am an eccentric individual and choose to interpret it in a way that is not possibly interpretable and respond with the nonsensical ramblings of someone that clearly should be on some (many?) psych meds.

{Then follows up w/ a Inverted DDT (aka the way Sting does the Scorpion Death Drop)}

{Tebow is left incapacitated}

{Crowd cheers}

{leaves the ring and then arena - just to let MNS and Neuro take care of Tebow}

{Michael Cole left announcer's booth to try to get interview w/ MysterD}

{Interview w/ Michael Cole}

{takes mic from Cole}

MysterD:

Michael Cole, I've grown tired of AJ and Kaitlynn getting involved in any of business. I'm gonna have to make a call to my lawyer, David Otunga. And we're going to settle this...in court.

Now, go back to announcing and doing your job.

{hands Cole the mic back}

{End}

You know, serious note - all of this WWE and wrestling joking around and chitter-chatter, really makes me wish WWE 2K14 got a PC port w/ additional Online Multiplayer support via Steamworks. That could be a HELL of a lot of fun.

I don't know if it's WWE or 2K - but, we have a sever lack of wrestling games on the PC. A good one - well, that likely could sell A LOT of copies. And since we ain't had a proper WWE game on the PC in forever, this might be the right time.

I think many gamers use Steam these days - and do have X360 gamepads and/or some other XInput gamepads, anyways. To me - this looks like a missed opportunity for both the WWE and 2K.

I mean, hell - look how well MK9 PC did sales-wise according to Ed Boon, you know?

We actually even also got Injustice here now!

I really played the hell out of WWE Smackdown 2: Know Your Role on the PSX.

Well, sure THQ had the license before 2K.

But, now 2K has it - they bring their other sports games like NBA2K here, so what's the hold-up for WWE games?

{shrug}

Aveline is not a preorder bonus, it's a deluxe/gold thing

I don't believe season pass includes everything, for example there are outfits that only come with particular action figures.

I don't think Nixxes did sleeping dogs.

Well, Season Pass these days normally just include certain specific content for a season and do not include everything for DLC's - especially the way things been going since SR:TT.

wwe dont want it on pc lol cause they only think console peasents. let see what 2k says about not porting

I'd be all over a WWE game for PC as long as it had some kind of mode or option to play mainly with wrestlers from the Attitude era.  I used to be a huge wrestling mark but stopped watching after 2003 or so b/c it started to suck.  Vince can't operate w/o competition, and TNA is no kinda competition.  I wish Paul E would win the lottery or something and start up a new organization himself but he's probably got a no-compete clause in his contract even in that unlikely scenario.

Wrong there.. Aveline was a Pre-order bonus and Pre-order were identified as Deluxe Edition.. (Maybe not on Steam but on Uplay it was.. I pre-ordered the basic AC4 and got Aveline with it)

Hard to blame 2K for the lack of PC wresting games... They've had the license about a year and have had a chance to release once... On a title that comes out yearly.

I'm hoping the new consoles, and their more PC nature, will mean will see this (and other missing titles) fixed in the next year or so... :)

that is wrong.
All right I stand corrected.. Aveline "could" be part of a Pre-order bonus since Uplay Store made some Pre-order into Deluxe Edition (Like in my case). I searched around and you are right Pre-order bonuses varied greatly depending on where you bought it.

I did some research to prove my point, here is Digital Deluxe still being sold on Steam in several countries, this is the Europe/Middle East/Africa one, and costs more than standard edition: http://steamdb.info/sub/32039/ There is also a Russian and a Japanese version.

Here is standard edition available in most countries, which costs less: http://steamdb.info/sub/32036/

Hmmm - I been looking around, and it seems like I was wrong!

I thought Nixxes was involved w/ that!

I don't know if United Front did the PC version internally or what - but regardless, that PC port turned-out very nice, I must say.
Yeah I remember a story where United Front was saying how Square Enix encouraged them to do a good job on the PC port and they developed it alongside the console version. I also looked at your link and they didn't have Sleeping Dogs listed under their past projects.

I don't really blame WWE for the lack of PC ports. 2K's (previously THQ's) main wrestling franchise, WWE 2K/Smackdown, has been traditionally developed by Yukes, a Japanese company with very little PC experience. If the rumors are true, and 2K decides to go with a different developer for WWE games in the future, I think they'll be more open to a PC port.
