The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

Guys, I'm thiiiiis close to preordering Danganronpa on Bestbuy.com with the GCU discount and using a certificate to bring the cost down--it just looks so darn innovative compared to most other games releasing this month... :whistle2:k

Do iiiiiiit.

If they make enough, we'll get the sequel too. :D

Not sure if anyone said already but Demon Gaze LE is down to under 50% stock now from NISA.
I guess I better put my order in soon then. I had been trying to wait till an order or two was completed through NISA so i could get and apply a coupon. Oh well, I've been wanting this game so I won't risk it over five bucks lol.

Please, they knew they were bringing over the second one a long time ago. The whole reason there's two games is to make more money.

Might get Demon Gaze LE.
Interview with XSeed (I know different pub) said that they make agreements/localize games one at a time. Then again the Japanese release was a compilation (sucks we don't get both) so maybe they did get the rights to both already.

According to NIS  about Dangan Ronpa

Q: Is NIS America thinking about localizing that or perhaps other games like Super Danganronpa 2?

PS: Right now it all depends on how the first game performs. We put a lot of time and resources into this game, and if fans respond positively and we see that there’s a real audience for this series in the West, we would definitely be open to exploring what else we might be able to bring over. On a personal level, I had a blast working on the first one and I would love to see the series continue over here, so we’ll just have to wait and see how the first game plays out.

There is a Vita version of J-Stars Versus Vs, not PSP.

Also just a rumor but Atlus is localizing Yakuza 5 http://gearnuke.com/rumor-atlus-localize-yakuza-5-west/
What the hell did i have on psp then...im gonna have to go through the boxes of my unsorted psp games to see. Yay to Yakuza 5

Not really a deal, but Best Buy finally added Toukiden to their website, so GCU members can get it at launch with the 20% discount.
What is that game? Thought it looked like a monster hunter clone from the screenshots

hmmm anyone think this will be rare? I have my LE pre ordered from a while ago but am having a hard time deciding if i should get a 2nd one to play, or just get a vanilla version when it drops a bit in price. It really boils down to how good that artbook is i guess. I dont suppose anyones gotten a peak at how good/many pages it is have they? Seems it would be better for me to get it if BBY carries it or something with my GCU

Lightning Returns

Bravely Default

South Park: The Stick of Truth

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD

Tales of Xillia 2

Persona 5

Atelier Escha & Logy

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace

Conception II

Witcher 3

Dragon Age 3

Elder Scrolls Online

Maybe: Fable Anniversary

These are the titles I'm excited about.

It's looking like a good year for RPG's.

My fav genre
So glad Atlus officially announced Persona 5. I hope it's something like Catherine graphics and their same solid gameplay.

You forgot to mention monolithosoft's X for the wii u. It's like Xenoblade with mechs.

Crap, I'm not sure how *I* forgot about X, seeing as Xenoblade is my favorite JRPG of that gen so far.  X will most likely be the game that makes me re-buy a Wii U (I traded mine in a week before the PS4 came out to get the GS bonus, got back close to what I paid and I wasn't playing it anyway).  Just hope the system has had its inevitable price drop by then.

I just got an email from Target saying that my W&THK preorder ($20) is cancelled. Not that I had high hopes of it actually getting through, but did anyone else who preordered at that price got their order cancelled as well?

Considering the franchise roots with Xenogears and Xenosaga, I found that a funny comment.

Someone else posted recently that theirs did.

good odds considering there are 15k of them or something like that. I highly doubt they are all gonna be gone. if its anything like xillias they will be numerous and easy to find and may go on sale.

Xillia has to be the worst collectors and limited edition I've seen yet. Just how many damn copies of it were printed cause even now I still see the Limited Edition brand new in store shelves and the Collectors Edition for base price in a few stores.

Seems Newegg is offering $10 promotion gift card for the pre-order of Lightning Returns from them again. I would switch from Amazon to them if they offered the DLC Amazon was offering =/

What are the chances tales of symphonia CE comes back in stock anywhere?

Someone please give me hope
I've been searching as well and the only thing that has me hopeful is Play Asia. Says that the pre-order for it is coming soon. Doesn't say it has been sold out yet. It's a long shot, but worth checking.

Don't remember where I heard it but it was changed to that you get the Yuna Gunner Garb and the summoner Yuna's Garb of Amazon

s pre-order on FFXIII-3 when loading a save file from FFX HD remaster.

But here is Amazon's ad for the game:

When i asked at one of my local gamestops on saturday, they said they were still taking orders, and the cutoff would be whenever they had used up their allocation. Considering how many gamestops exist near me, i could probably order from half a dozen of them. I personally still haven't been able to justify spending 100 dollars for games i already own though.

I actually cancelled mine a while back just cause I can't see all the bonuses being worth an extra 60 bucks (I like figures and all but that's all that's awesome to me other than the soundtrack). I will be happy to pay around 40 to play the games though since I never had a wii or gamecube during that time.

Here's the image showing it:

But I hope you guys are right and it also unlocks via FFX / X-2 HD, because I'm not preordering LR at a third place.  ;)

I would like to know this as well, as I forgot about the Symphonia CE until now.
I just canceled my pre-order on this from Amazon today. I had one at GameStop in store and Amazon so I ended up keeping the GameStop in store pre-order. Maybe if you keep an eye on it that one will be available soon. Not really sure how they do it.

You won't regret it, Dangan Ronpa was an excellent game. It's up there with Phoenix Wright and 999 for me.
You sure you played Dangan Ronpa 1 and not Super Dangan Ronpa 2? Dangan 1 didn't have the plot or gameplay to even come close to hanging with Phoenix/999. And the character events were pretty worthless and a time-consuming grind.

I mean, it's worth a shot, I guess, but it ain't worth the hype.

Drakengard 3 Collector's Edition preorder is available now (exclusively) at the Square Enix Online Store for $79.99 + ridiculous shipping:

Seems like the Japanese VO is exclusive to preorders (for standard or CE). Now I have to cancel my standard and reorder the CE.

Giant Baby Hat?  Sold!  :D

Seriously, these CE's are gonna kill me this year but I can't turn this one down either.  May 20 - well, at least I don't think anything else is coming out really close to that.

Ah this one looks easy to turn down for me at least. I like the original costumes better in this game DG3. Nothing really worth "collecting" there for me.

The thing which really bothers me is that Square-Enix apparently won't even be selling the physical game outside of their online store, CE or no CE, so there's no way it'll show up at Gamestop later on. :bomb:

It's digital-only for the European release, given current info. NA retailers should still get the SE.

Edit: Yup, you're right. Reply to a comment in the blog: "There are no plans as of right now for the game to be available outside of the Square Enix Store. The 3 items Pre-Order Bonus Items are also a Square Enix Store Exclusive."

According to the blog post the S-E rep posted today on Sony's blog, the physical release is exclusive to their online store for NA.

I definitely want the physical release of this game at least, so I'm looking at a $30 difference to get the CE. I think I see that much value there (heck, the CE DLC codes by themselves will probably fetch close to that on ebay). Would like to know the size of that poster, but I'm in regardless.

dont forget to calculate the ridiculous shipping difference ($7 for SE, $12 for CE)

Ah, I assumed the shipping would be the same crazy amount regardless. But I still believe you could recoup most of that difference just by selling the DLC if you wanted.

I had to order one. I haven't really played past games except the beginning of Drakengard 1, but I loved Nier. And I assume this is probably going to sell out and I don't want to be stuck with the regrets for not getting it while I can.
