This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I'm probably going to be picking up MGS5 this summer but I haven't played a metal gear game since MGS2. Should I pick up Peace Walker or would I be lost story wise unless I played MGS3 first
I'd recommend MGS3 over Peace Walker, but I don't believe there is a story conflict.

There is no Lips sale. It's just a 1% markdown that XBLDB caught.
I'll take any discounts I can get.

I played plenty of Ridge Racer Unbounded. Did you ever play any FlatOut game, especially FlatOut 2 or Ultimate Carnage? Ridge Racer Unbounded is more like a FlatOut game (unsurprising, since it's from Bugbear who made that series) than a Ridge Racer one, but it doesn't completely abandon the tradition of RR games with heavy reliance on drifting. The game has exciting, eventful and explosive tracks, tons of game modes, and generally a lot of content. If you enjoy the driving (there's a demo up), you'll like the game because there's a lot of things to do. There's even a soundtrack I liked, a lot of great EDM stuff ranging from drum n bass to electro house and dubstep. Artstyle and the driving also reminds a bit of Split/Second, with grim colours but bright explosions and sexy dynamic texts on the walls rather than a classic HUD telling you your position - very stylish. The most unique feature is the great track editor, which has you placing a lot of different "city blocks". You can't stack 'em, so no vertical track-building, but you can literally build up your own cities made up of intersections, jumps, bay areas and whatnot, with also the possibility of adding ramps, barrels, obstacles on the course, effectively allowing a great liberty and variety that I can't remember in any other racing game on the X360. The online has always been a bit broken, even at launch it's been a mess to join a match, but you can download anyone's tracks (or set of tracks, you can literally build campaigns and let others enjoy 'em), so the single player (or private matches) do offer a lot of value, with the AI adapting pretty well to custom tracks usually. It's a great game that had a mixed reception because: it's not really a Ridge Racer game, the driving and artstyle is not very original (reminding FlatOut and Split/Second), and with a barely working online it was hard to recommend it at full price. But it's now for 5$, which is an absolutely amazing price - even if you don't end up enjoying some of the "basic" gameplay elements, you can create some fluke tracks with crazy jumps, obstacle courses or tons of explosives - or try out what other crazy people invented. It's got no local co-op but there's plenty of content to justify such a low price.

As for local co-op racing, I can recommend Blur and Split/Second the most. Those have been some of the finest arcade racers the last generation, and have a nice local multiplayer too - especially Blur.
Dude, you just sold me. Just the other day I was like with the big editor featured in GTA V, man why hasn't any racing game done that! GRID on the DS has a track editor, also has objectives you need to surpass while creating the track and best of all playable too.

Also so mad Split/Second never got a sequel, that was a fun racing game.

No racing game on the X360 had a proper editor. Technically, you could make racing games in Kodu or Trials, but it's not the same. There was a great time on PC (2003 or so) when racers with track editors became really popular, we had the amazing TrackMania and the also rather impressive Crashday with downright brilliant editors raging on, too bad these games never saw proper console versions. TrackMania did, actually, but only on DS and Wii. The recent TrackMania 2 should have absolutely been on X360 and PS3 as well, I'm sure a lot of people would have liked it if priced right. While in 2003 or so it was one thing, I'm baffled how Nadeo (the makers of TrackMania) still don't really care about console gaming in 2014. Consoles never really saw anything comparable to those games, Wii and DS aside, and I feel that Ridge Racer Unbounded should have had a better advertising campaign that pointed on the lovely track editor: it literally made the game unique on last-gen consoles, as no other game on X360 or PS3 could do the same (you had stuff like Little Big Planet Karting on PS3, but it really isn't the same thing). That editor alone is worth the 5$.

Peacewalker will spoil the end of MGS3, but you definitely want to play Peacewalker before Ground Zeroes. (Characters introduced in PW show up in trailers for 5)

Game order: Solid 3- PW- 5- Metal Gear- Metal Gear 2 (?) - Solid- Solid 2- Solid 4.

I recommend getting Peacewalker. There's an astronomical amount of side/multiplayer content. It's weird, but a good time and it's not really going to be less than $5 later on.

I got PW for $10 in last years sale and it's still something I chip away at every couple weeks, even though I've "beat" it.

Where exactly is the Lips stuff listed that's on sale? ???

Is Bejeweled 3 on any of those PopCap discs or it is online only?
Go here for the active deals:
http://xbldb.com/current-deals

Yes, Bejeweled 3 is available on disc with Bejeweled Blitz. Or on the Zuma's Revenge disc along with Feeding Frenzy 2. You'll pay a lot more for the disc than getting the games on sale. PopCap has been putting them on sale at large discounts.

Oh god I played a lot of Trackmania! One of the best community racers out there, trying to figure out the track your first lap was always hilarious to watch everybody miss the checkpoint or whatever. Yeah I missed out on Trackmania 2 when I focused mainly console for gaming. I listened to Trackmania 2's OST and downloaded a few songs, love it. My guess it didn't go 360/PS3 was the small French development studio didn't have the needed staff/budget to accomplish such a feat.

I've also been on TM for years, especially on the first TrackMania, it's first proper expansion pack Power Up!, then all the way to the beta of Speed Up!, Original... man, the first game was damn amazing. Sunrise wasn't really my cup of tea, and Nations was good, but my love was for the original one. TMU did well to unite all games, in fact I went back to play it for a bit, but since I moved to consoles by now I pretty much skipped TM2 too. I did give it a shot and it gave me the same feelings as Sunrise, so I didn't invest time and money into it. Ubisoft bought Nadeo a while ago, so I don't get why they don't make them do the game(s) on console, it'd sell so much more.

Walking Dead Season Two Episode One for $1? Yes please. Here's hoping the season pass hits a sale too.

Now for the dreaded decision of either playing it as it comes out or waiting until all five episodes are released.

Yeah I guess I will plunk down the $1. The entire 1st season still on my HD though.

Brothers is back on sale, for the peasants who not yet bought it now there's the unmissable opportunity :p Jokes aside it is awesome. Resident Evil and SF4 are just above my "would absolutely buy" price, none of those sagas ever really interested me but I would have got 'em for 5 or so. Unless someone sells me on those two, I think I'm taking a one day break from the sales. Prototype 1 and The Darkness 1 were largely underwhelming for me so I'm not considering the sequels. Already have TWAU, Brothers and Tomb Raider, which leaves us with Viking which I saw at my ex and was generic as hell, would indefinitely sit in my backlog for sure.

I'm dumb, it's episode 1 for TWD, not TWAU. Then I might just be sold, although it'll probably be free pretty soon.

Tony Hawk is tempting at that price...

As for Walking Dead I want to get it, but I figure it'll go on sale or free when it goes on sale again. Then again it's only a dollar...

Can't speak on Prototype as I haven't played it, but having beaten Darkness 1/2 I would say PLAY DARKNESS 2!! Tons of fun compared to 1. Can probably find it cheaper than this though physical.

EDIT: Also noticed ORC is just below your price, it is $5.99 at GS.

Walking Dead Season 2 for 99 cents? Assuming it's just the first episode? Any word if the season pass is getting discounted too?

I would like to get The Darkness II, but the last time i tried to buy it was IP locked. Nothing for me then.

Excellent prices for Brothers and Walking Dead btw.

Same. Tony Hawk! Tony Hawk! Tony Hawk! I'm largely tempted, though the game's DLC costs more than the base game with this sale.

TWD Season 2 Episode 1 will likely go free in a matter of time, just as it happened to Season 1 of TWD and TWAU. They will probably drop the usual "get ep1 free and all others 10$" deal again, they already did it 3 times, so...

Well, if the deals continue to be crappy as they sound tomorrow, think I'll be grabbing RR:Unbounded before it's sale ends.

Fair enough. I was pretty impressed with it, but wouldn't put it at GOTY (GTA V and The Last of Us duke that out in my mind). I found the gameplay to be much better than Bioshock 1 and 2, but I generally didn't love those games like most people (always felt underpowered). It still was far from perfect. I suppose it's one of those games where the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.
I pretty much agree with this entire post. Last of Us being my personal GOTY closely followed by GTA V. Bioshock is a close third, but it's the one game I'll probably never play again while the other two were such amazing experiences (gameplay and storywise) I'll have to give them at least a second playthrough down the line.

Just to stay on topic, it looks like TWD season two (ep1) is on sale. Wonder if it's worth a $1 if I haven't even got around to the first season. :whistle2:o

Sweet! Just picked up Tomb Raider, Walking Dead and Bejeweled 3. Here's to hoping for Halo 4 being sub $10 over the next couple of days.

At this point, I only spent some leftover credits from the Rewards thing (5 Euros or so between Hell Yeah! and Runner 2), and 1 more Euro on Bejeweled 3. At the end of the weekly sale I'll pick up Driver San Francisco and Dirt 3 for sure, though I do want to see my options. The rest of the amazing prices are mostly on games I own, though I am still debating TWD Season 2 Ep1 for this price - it is surely worth it, but I'm almost certain it'll be free very soon along with a Season Pass sale. If the deals continue to be like this, I think I'll grab Asura's Wrath as well from the weekly.

All the games on sale tomorrow are good, but the prices might be a little bit too high for some. The only one that I cannot personally recommend is Brothers. I really tried to give that game a chance, but cheese and crackers it was buggy as bananas from Alaska for me. Had to restart a chapter for a glitchy achievement. Then had to restart an annoying cave chapter several times because a cutscene that was supposed to trigger near the very end of the level, would not trigger. My progress stopped there after trying it twice.

Me either. What kind of game is this?
I haven't played it in a few years, but I think it was very loosely like Fable. I think it was the combat that reminded me of Fable. Easy achievements and not too long of a game, but certainly is not bad either. Definitely worth the price of a rental (the sale price is cheaper than a rental).

Note for the people considering Resident Evil ORC: It is only playable multiplayer*.

*You can play it with AI partners, but don't. Please don't. The game is complete garbage without other people. The AI is the worst I've ever seen. They'd be more helpful if they just hid in the corner.

Oh, and for the Euro-zone fellas, Prototype 2 is 7,49 Euros. That is around 10$, but since we usually get a 1:1 conversion rate (or worse), it's a sweeter deal than it might have appeared. Personally I'd much rather get Asura's Wrath at that price though, Prototype 1 entertained for a few hours as I roamed the city jumping between people, climbing buildings and stuff, but the controls and the actual game were pretty bad imho, and I don't trust the sequel.

I was sort of considering it only it was a fairly easy SP run, but if it pretty much requires coop partners (like Left 4 Dead), I'll skip.

I can vouch for Brothers and Prototype 2 as being fun games.

Not sure if P2 is worth $10, but it definitely is fun.
Brothers is definitely worth 4$ though. It's not that long but it's an easy run of 400G, and it has some of the most brilliant atmospheres and most surprising storylines too. The fact the gameplay evolves and keeps on playing with your emotions and sensations is downright fantastic. It's a unique ride that not everyone will like, but at 4$ but it's a risk worth taking for one of the finest XBLA games.

It's a third person action adventure game. It's got an open world, but the open world really isn't all that big. What makes the game interesting is that you have one large objective, usually to win some battle, but to complete it you have to do smaller objectives like freeing settlements and raising an army big enough for the battle. I really liked it because you're always working towards some goal, then the payoff is that you get to participate in this huge Lord of the rings type battle with hundreds of guys on the screen. Fun times!!!

Prototype 2 is a ton of fun, and it doesn't take long to feel like a total badass in the game. Plenty of side stuff and collectibles if you're into that. You can probably get it cheaper on disc, considering BB had it free with a GCU coupon not long ago. Still, I would say it's worth $10.

If you pass on Brothers at $4.xx, you're dead to me.

Meh. Nothing for me tonight.

Am still trying to decide on Skyrim... It kind of looks like Diablo III, which I loved. I just never could get into Oblivion - but that was years ago...

Any reason to buy left for dead one if I already have left for dead 2 and all the dlc? Thank you.
I've seen some posts about different art assets, melee weapons and story tone but ididnt left for dead 2 incorporate all the left for dead maps?

Thanks for the feedback on Vikings. I thought Fable was just okay and I see Prince of Persian is listed under "related" so I will pass.

$10 for Prototype 2 is a solid deal. I thought the first game was good too but for some reason people didn't like it.

I'm the opposite way with Darkness II and Brothers. I found both to be boring due to the controls.

Good points about a possible sale down the road for Walking Dead Season 2. I'll just download the trial in the meantime.
