  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.

No, but then the quality gap isn't as wide. Pac-Man is an awful game and always has been. Pac-Man CE DX was the first in the franchise to ever not only be good, but great. Galaga Legions on the other hand was a good game to start so it could only realistically be improved marginally.

Full disclosure: I am a huge shmup fan so keep that in mind when referring to my Galaga comments.

CE DX is absolutely a better game. It's one of the best games this past generation. However, my knock against Pac-Man was more about all the previous garbage. I've never understood why people enjoyed Pac-Man at all, it's so slow and dull. Even for its day it wasn't all that great. Again, Galaga was much better throughout the years so the DX version is only a bit of a step up and pales in comparison to CE DX because it didn't have the room for improvement. They really just made it more playable for the less skilled/casual players. I'm perfectly fine with that, a game doesn't have to be punishingly hard to be fun after all.

 
My first thought was: Why is Dark Souls not on sale this week? My second thought: Damn, this is crappy! I own everything except Bang Bang and Castlevaia and I am not touching either. My third thought: Dark Soul will be on sale again next week!

These sales have been pretty intense. I am sure there is an idiot out there that is about to pay full price for an XBLA title.....don't do it. I just hope that I am not that idiot!

Never heard of Twin Tiger Strike, but will have to check that one out. I'll admit to not keeping up with the indie section, but now I'm wondering what other shmups it has (Already have Shoot 1 Up, Vampire Rain, and Vorpal).

Also, not sure if you heard, but there's a new retail shmup coming out. Bullet Soul Infinite Burst. Slated for April 24th. No word on if it's region free yet however.

So.. I'm not quite sure why this thread turned into armchair economists discussing the financial health of Microsoft and Nintendo, but let's keep away from that.

Another place I frequent has those kinds of discussion threads every single fucking day, and I have just about every single talking point memorized (it was so bad, I did my own extensive research into the subject just so I could shut people up). That said, some of you are pretty much quoting those talking points from the other site, and you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. (See: What are enterprise costs?)

Part of the reason I come here and enjoy this thread as much as I do is it serves as a safe haven from console war flaming (considering we're all supposedly here because of one platform's digital marketplace), so please don't shit it up for me. Pretty please?

Back to the topic, it's great to finally see Galaga Legions DX on sale after all these years.

The only other game I don't have is Bang Bang Racing, but I'll probably skip it for 360.

I highly recommend Gunslinger and Scott Pilgrim. If you don't have the 3DS version and have played the first one, Mirror of Fate HD is worth getting, it's MUCH better than the 3DS version, to the point where you might as well throw out your 3DS cart.

Unfortunately, the sequel just came out and it's getting panned across the board, and the title's troubled development has been leaked by an anonymous dev. http://www.xboxachievements.com/news/news-17465-Castlevania--Lords-of-Shadow-2-s-Allegedly-Troubled-Development-Exposed--Studio-Director-Blamed.html

The same crappy studio director is also currently complaining that he feels the 4/10 reviews are an injustice because of all the crap games that gets better reviews. He has a point (gaming journalism is absolutely flawed, and most major sites follow the money when it comes to scoring), but it's ironic considering how much of an asshole he was to his staff.

That unpleasantry aside, one last note.

For those of you with a capable PC, BANG BANG RACING IS AVAILABLE IN THE ADRENALINE BUNDLE FROM BUNDLESTARS. (Bundle comes with 11 other games as well (including Rock of Ages and Postal 1), all Steam keys, for $5).

I have so much stuff in my backlog unopened that I by the time I get to them most of the codes will probably be expired.

Relax, first of all, there are some good games (aside from Ghosts and ACIV), and second of all, there's a game that's NEVER been on sale included (Galaga Legions DX).

As for your question, there should be a thread about that somewhere on this site.. possibly with the GotY edition stuff?

Oh, for those of you who have Namco Museum Virtual Arcade disc, it has Galaga Legions and Pac-Man & Pac-Man: CE, but not Galaga Legions DX or Pac-Man: CE DX.

On another note, anybody know a site that lists games that have time sensitive codes? Like with extra DLC and things like that.

I have so much stuff in my backlog unopened that I by the time I get to them most of the codes will probably be expired.

The 240 point codes that come with Dance Central 1 and 2 are supposed to be time sensitive. But when they switched from points to real money they reactivated the codes. I'd use them sooner rather than later though just in case.

They used to say 240 Point FY11 Promo for DC1 and 240 Point FY12 Promo for DC2, but I entered a DC2 one today and it just said "240 Points"

 
So the dashboard and Xbox video app says Dragon Ball Z Season 1 is Free, yet when you click on it the price is still $1 per episode SD and $2 for HD.

Pretty much. I don't do multiplayer that much and I don't use/haven't explored many of the apps - just Netflix. I think of Gold like Playstation Plus and have a 12 month Gold membership card which I'd like to get the most out of. If I used it right when my Gold ran out, I would have wasted two weeks on it.

I own the new Blu ray release for this but checked to see for you and I'm able to watch all of season 1 for free on my Xbox One

The majority of the opinions I've heard imply that it's a heaping pile of dung. I haven't played it myself, but when this many people say it's bad, it probably is. I was going to pick it up on the 3DS but decided not to since most people hate it on that platform too.

I just played through it last week to prepare for LoS2 (Have Mirrors on 3DS and 360) and I actually really enjoyed the game, ended up getting 100% on all three characters (not on achievements though).

Hmmmm. This will be bundled with LoS2 right? I know I will be getting that at some point so may as well wait.

Edit: Never mind I was thinking of the LoS collection that includes the first game and Mirror in addition to a demo of LoS2.

Bullet Soul Infinite Burst is listed as region locked. I had already looked into preordering it a while ago. Always the chance it could be wrong, but at this point I doubt it. I have the previous release on XBLA, but I'm afraid to even boot it anymore since they started cracking down on out of region purchases.

The 3DS version is the one that's absolutely terrible. The HD version for 360/PS3 has a good amount of fixes that make the game decent. But yes, there's a disc version that includes the first game, and codes for Mirror of Fate HD and the first game's DLCs.

My friend from Oman has a brother who says it's safe to play games you've already purchased from other regions again. (He played through Arcania a few months back, got a load of achievements online and nothing happened.). That said, I recommend you do it on a throwaway Silver account first, just to be sure. But it looks like the ban issuing is long over.

As for getting banned over NEW out-of-region purchases, well.. that's a whole other story. Wouldn't risk it just yet.

Wow, that's a neat coincidence. I just finished watching all of Season 2 & 3 of DBZ Abridged last night (fantastically done series, funny but don't expect to actually laugh too much), and I was just itching for some of the actual show.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try. I still can't believe they would ban people for buying (actually paying for that is, the free stuff I can understand) content from other regions. I could see an agrument being made if I bought a game available in my region but was drastically cheaper in another region, but I've only bought content that I can't get here. I even flushed like $40 on Virtual On Force that I was never able to get to download (managed to force the purchase through but the download never completed-I tried for literally days to get a VPN to work but no luck). I ended up buying the region free re-release disc when it came out so I spent far too much to play that game, but it was awesome so I don't care. Wishing I had bought the Bullet Soul DLC before all this happened now though, I'll never even have a chance to 100% it (not that any shmup is a reasonable 100% anyway, but I still like to have the option).

That's a bummer if it is indeed region locked. Just saw it on the front page of TrueAchievements last night. Since the first BulletSoul was originally region free, I was hoping that would be the case again. Instead, looks like I may have to put it in the pile with Caldrius. :(

As for the GoD version of BulletSoul, I'd say your safe and wouldn't worry. If they wanted to ban you for it, they would and there's nothing you can do about it since the purchase is already tied to your account and/or console.

There's a guy I know who at times appears as female who appeared in Oman for a short while playing Rayman Legends every day for four months for the "maximum level of awesome" achievement. Still lives to tell to tale about it.

I wanna say 99% of the bans were for getting "free" content through the glitch. I don't think many, if any, people who ONLY bought stuff legitimately from other marketplaces got affected. But I get what you're saying.

I'm a big shmup fan so I've been following it for a little while. I own a disc copy of every region free shmup on the 360 (save for Ginga Force, still hunting that one down if anyone is selling it for a reasonable price) and I would have preordered it if it was region free. At some point I'll probably buy a Japanese 360 just to play all the other shmups, but i just can't bring myself to do that when I have so much already on the backlog pile.

If you want to get in on a cheap region free shmup Dodonpachi Saidaioujou preorders are still being taken for the platinum hits version releasing in just a few days. I've got my order in. :whee:

I guess that is possible. At one point I had a couple hundred thousand MSPs to burn through (nope not a typo) so I bought a ton of stuff at full price. Maybe Galaga Legions DX was on my radar at the time and got scooped up with so many other titles.

Where do you get the Spark Beta on the X1?  I have it for windows but haven't received any email or anything regarding the X1 version.

 
I had the windows beta also. I just did a bing search on my xb1 for project spark. I didn't need to enter my beta code again. I follow them on twitter so that's how I found put about it being available.

I was in the windows beta as well so I didn't have to put a code after I launched it, but people have reported that you need a code to play if you haven't already redeemed one.

I downloaded it and haven't loaded it up yet.

I originally thought the beta was available today only through a download code, but when I try to use it, it said try again and that the code was not working.
