GOG Deals Thread

And recently a buck less on steam. it's also on the Humble Store for $2.49 if you must have steam-less linux version (doesn't look like you score a steam key that way though).
Ooh, I forgot to check the Humble store. I actually bought Defender's Quest there during the past Steam Summer sale when it was $3.75 and the Humble Store matched that price. At the time, I was given a GOG key (which is how I own it on GOG) as well as a Desura & Steam key. In addition to that, I also got a DRM-Free download version of the game.

I'm not sure if you still get all that. As you noted, there isn't any indication that you get anything other than the DRM-Free version of the game. If you do still get all the other keys though, it's clearly better to get it through the Humble store.

I just wanted to point that out.  It's also the first time I've seen a Steam game on the Humble Store that doesn't explicitly come with a Steam key (no steam logo by the mac/lin/win).

GOG & Desura keys from Humble Store, cool. =)

It's most likely an omission on the part of the Humble Store. The dev's site still indicates you get a Steam key, and it sells via the Humble widget.

GOG made a pretty big announcement today:

The DRM-Free Revolution Continues with Big Pre-Orders and Launch Day Releases!

Good news! GOG.com is going to bring you more fantastic launch day releases, preorders, and other exciting new content from some of our favorite developers. We've lined up 3 big titles that we will be bringing to GOG.com in the next couple of months for sale or preorder that we think will be hits with all of our gamers; and we have more equally exciting games coming up soon.

If you've been a member of the site for a long time, you may recall that when we launched sales of The Witcher 2 on GOG.com, we had to add in regional pricing. The game cost different amounts in in the US, the UK, the European Union, and Australia. We're doing something like that once again in order to bring you new titles from fantastic bigger studios. Since we don't accept currencies other than USD on GOG.com right now, we'll be charging the equivalent of the local price in USD for these titles. We wish that we could offer these games at flat prices everywhere in the world, but the decision on pricing is always in our partners' hands, and regional pricing is becoming the standard around the globe. We're doing this because we believe that there's no better way to accomplish our overall goals for DRM-Free gaming and GOG.com. We need more games, devs, and publishers on board to make DRM-Free gaming something that's standard for all of the gaming world!

That brings with it more good news, though! As mentioned, we have three games we're launching soon with regional pricing--two RPGs and a strategy game--and while we can't tell you what they are yet because breaking an NDA has more severe penalties than just getting a noogie, we're confident that you'll be as excited about these games as we are. For a limited time, we will be offering anyone who pre-orders or buys one of them a free game from a selection as a gift from GOG.com, just like we did for The Witcher 2.

If you have any questions, hit us up in the comments below and we'll be happy to answer (to the best of our ability).
tl;dr - 3 major titles available for preorder soon, but these will have regional pricing.

I'd be tempted to buy the strategy game from GOG over Steam if it is what I think it is (AoW III), but I think it's going to have at least a small bunch of dlc so I wonder how that would be handled. Good chance my guess is wrong anyway.

Indie Gem Promo

60% Off Volgarr The Viking - $4.79

This indie game offers a bit of a change of pace over the usual indie game fair. This game features graphics in the 16 bit graphical style as an homage to games of yore.

Weekend Sales still aren't up... wth isn't it Friday yet?

GOG open letter about regional pricing...

Alright, but why is regional pricing needed for those (only 3 so far!) newer games then?

First of all, you have to be aware of an important fact when it comes to newer games: GOG.com cannot really decide what the prices should be. Top-tier developers and publishers usually have contractual obligations with their retail partners that oblige them to offer the game at the same price digitally and in retail. When they don’t have such contractual obligations, they are still encouraged to do so, or else their games might not get any exposure on the shelves in your favorite shops.

Some nice deals, might have to pick up BS2 Remastered and BS4. Shame Gaben hasn't brought those into his fold. Your loss, Gaben, YOUR LOSS (unless they get added later thereby forcing me to double dip).

I'm surprised that they have a classic adventure cruise and didn't include Love For Sail.
That's because it's published / owned by Codemasters and they never go along with promos like this one. They have to have their own special promos.

Man. So many games on my wishlist... but after the recent pricing fiasco I just can't make myself buy anything. :(

I actually bought it on sale not long ago so I'm not really complaining. I feel pretty good that my wishlist is getting down to just a few games left. Hopefully the pricing changes bring in lots of new games so I am not going to get upset yet.

EA loves to raise the prices of their games in my region on anything that isn't Origin, so I have good reason to be upset. :(

One of my favorite adventure games - a must-play, especially if you like psychological horror. Puzzles aren't too difficult. The game's main weakness is probably the voice acting, but otherwise it's very solid.

One of the greatest point & clicks ever made.  I paid more than that for my disk, and never regretted it.

I was lucky to find a digipack at Office Depot of all places about 7 years ago for something like $5.

Must have been a 1 day promo? Anyway, still waiting for at least 70% off myself.
Considering it was 60% off in 2012 too, you may be waiting awhile.

Indie Gem Promo (24 hours)

50% Off Democracy 3 - $12.49

Oh and there's a 10% discount on the Blackguards game & DLC.  Personally I can't get worked up enough about that to list the price or make the discount percentage an obnoxiously large lime green font. But I'm listing it for posterity's sake.

This part might have been influenced by recent events.

As long as everything runs smoothly, no one will even notice--or appreciate--your work. A competent government can be pretty much invisible. Efficiently governed states are like fine-tuned engines. They run silently. It's when you hit a bump is what gets you noticed. Pass one regulation that doesn't agree well with a particular social group. Revoke a privilege. Raise a tax. Quiet and civil modern societies turned into medieval angry mobs with torches and pitchforks over lesser things. Tread lightly. Of course, sometimes it's impossible to avoid conflict and please all the sides. No, scratch that. It's almost never possible to do so. There you have it--just when you thought public office is all comfort and peace. You couldn't have been more mistaken. But then again, miracles do happen. Are you a political miracle-worker?

Anyone play Moonbase Commander and do I need to if I already have SM Alpha Centauri?  They are both classified as strategy turn-based sci-fi.

Yeah, I've never seen the BR games go on sale.

Anybody know if there are any issues with the PC ports for either BR? The only thing I'm seeing on Metacritic is possibly poor controls, which I assume having a gamepad will fix.

The BloodRayne games have been on sale like, once or twice before, but never this low. Any controller issues are probably due to how old the games are, it's probably the same issues that Soul Reaver has.

I'm grabbing both Bloodrayne games and possibly Advent Rising.

I got the Bloodrayne games when I bought the Bloodrayne movies.  Cheaper than that too.

But it totally wasn't worth it to have Uwe Boll's failure watching me from the movie shelf.

I've spent like two years trying to get a cheap copy of the Bloodrayne 2 DVD. I have 1 somewhere.

I still don't understand why they included the Bloodrayne 2 game in the Bloodrayne 1 DVD, and the Bloodrayne 1 game in the Bloodrayne 2 DVD.

Anyone played Lords of the Realm 1 + 2? I remember played it at launch and was very fun, but don't know how they stand the test of time, and I'm not talking about graphics...

Also, Ground Control, Lords of magic... never played it. Are they fun?

Also, titties.
I honestly don't recall. I remember seeing the first one and thinking it wasn't Alone in the Dark terrible. I've never seen the second one, despite the prodigious number of times it's appeared on cable, and I started watching the third or fourth (?) one that had something to do with prisoners on a train going to a Soviet gulag or something, but I lost interest both times and gave up.

Crap, the Broken Sword games were just on sale last weekend? Now I'm going to have to wait forever for another sale and they'll probably never be that cheap again.

I just wanted to comment on this. I'm a movie fan, critical at times, but overall a fan. I enjoy watching movies, good or bad. Alone in the Dark is the only movie I have never been able to finish watching. I've tried...oh, how I've tried. Even tried watching different sections at different times to at least say I've watched the entire thing. Nope.

Worst

Movie
