Yay! Got my industry pass for E3; love how "Network Engineer" = working in industry. Hopefully it'll be good this year.
I see you like to scope out your hoard ahead if time!
I used to always justify my game hoarding by telling myself that at least I am not as bad as AnarachyOblivion/Meowlo/Hoarder but now I am getting dangerously close to the amount of games he owns. :fridge:

Looks like Capcom pulled the plug on the daily, as it got replaced by stock daily deal filler Left 4 Dead 2 for the five people who forgot to get it for free in December.
Well that's just weird... It was the same price in Oct... out of keys?

Capcom Humble Bundle confirmed!

One has the right to hope

Not surprised, capcom has a history of pulling the plug on sales halfway.

Remember that price mistake for street fighter x tekken, they completely removed the sale instead of fixing the price.

Also, during the past winter sale, resident evil 5 was listed 75% off the entire sale, but was discovered... and was completely removed, not even 50% off.

I am guessing what happened was that it was supposed to be only 50-66% off, so they "Capcom-raged" and removed it entirely. Valve wanted a daily deal for Steam, so replaced it as a filler with one of their own games.

This is coming from the same company that not so long ago had a DLC sale. A sale of most of their DLC, no discount for any of their games.

Replace one zombie game with another, no one will notice. I think someone at Capcom just figured out "people could be buying our games!" and then they all started vomiting on each other like in Stand By Me.

Now that I've pre-ordered, I'm starting to get excited but also nervous. I remember how I felt just before getting Dark Souls: I had put a ton of hours into Demon's Souls and while it was very satisfying, it could also be oppressive and frustrating. I ended up putting a ton of hours into Dark Souls and loving it (also hating it), but my gaming time is more limited lately. To get the most from these games, you really have to commit to them in ways few other games require. Learning the environments, traps, controls, combat, etc. All part of the fun, but similar (I think) to the investment required to get really good at a sim oriented racing game (i.e. learning the tracks, the car handling, etc.). Anyone else have similar feelings?
I tend to agree. When I play a game that requires the depth necessary to the get the most out of it, I'm pretty much committing to it once I start playing. Rarely have I changed course a few hours into one unless I'm completely distracted or work piles up and I need a casual break.

I don't play games to plow through them either, I'm one for taking my time and trying to enjoy what the game provides. Whether that's an awesome story, fantastic addictive game play, or the challenges being thrown at the player are rewarding. So I can relate to your comment. One has to know before hand they'll be enraptured by games like these, it's all part of the fun.

Capcom rep on Steam forum says it wasn't supposed to go on sale.

I wonder if he changed his avatar to Bill from L4D to rub it in.
This has happened multiple times with them and it rarely happens with any other publisher. Seems fishy.

Price mistakes? Sure. Game was not supposed to go on sale at all and then the plug gets pulled? Seems to only be common with Capcom.

L4D2 is about as phoning it in as Valve can get for a daily deal so clearly they didn't have anything else lined up.

Sixty in March update:

Beat twelve more games:

28: Super Amazing Wagon Adventure (3/5; 63 Minutes played; 5 stars) - Super inventive and hard as hell.
29: Samorost 2 (3/5; 42 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Puzzles could be a bit tricky, especially the last one. Super cool game though.
30: Guns of Icarus (3/5; 38 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Pretty fun turret defense game.
31: Post Apocalyptic Mayhem (3/5; 51 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Pretty fun but the scoring system makes the race not really matter.
32: Scoregasm (3/5; 28 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Twin-stick shooter. 'Nuff said.
33: Proteus (3/5; 30 Minutes played; 5 stars) - Like Minecraft without all that annoying stuff to do!
34: Data Jammers: FastForward (3/5; 43 Minutes played; 2 stars) - This is a game.
35: DLC Quest (3/5; 36 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Funny, easy platformer. Chef recommends!
36: Bumbledore (3/6; 36 Minutes played; 2 stars) - Should have stayed a mobile game.
37: Gunman Clive (3/6; 51 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Cool Western platformer with a few fun twists.
38: Inversion (3/7; 6.5 Hours played; 3 stars) - Fun, silly third-person shooter.
39: Hexcells Plus (3/7; 6 Hours played; 5 stars) - Hexcells are perfect puzzle games. Just needs Steam Workshop.

Here are my previous updates:
01: Luxor (3/1; 9 Hours played; 3 stars) - Started in Feb. It's ok.
02: Love (3/1; 38 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Pretty fun.
03: The Graveyard (3/1; 13 Minutes played; 1 or maybe 5 stars) - A true gem! Or maybe not. But maybe!
04: Happy Song Prototype (3/1; 5 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Nifty?
05: The White Birch Prototype (3/1; 16 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Very nice atmospheric climbing game. Rough mechanics.
06: Black Lake Prototype (3/1; 16 Minutes played; 5 stars) - Really cool game. Gotta find that fox!
07: BRAZEN Prototype (3/1; 10 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Fun stuff. A few hours would have been too much.
08: Magical Drop V (3/1; 30 Minutes played; 2 stars) - Not sure if this game is designed for kids or perverts.
09: Worms Pinball (3/2; 6 Minutes played; 2 stars) - Don't know if I am going to count this.
10: 9.03 (3/2; 12 Minutes played; 5 stars?) - A nifty arty game about being sad and then going to a beach party for wizards. Oh, those wizards are all dead. Oh. They weren't wizards.
11: Dinner Date (3/2; 20 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Sit at a Table and Ponder Your Life: The Game
12: The Polynomial (3/2; 7 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Endless game, not sure if I should count it. Looks great.
13: GundeadliGne (3/2; 30 Minutes played; X stars) - Shoot stuff.
14: Telltale Texas Hold'Em (3/2; 15 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Pretty funny, but not as polished as their recent poker games.
15: Postal (3/3; 3 Hours played; 2 stars) - The sounds of hundreds of burning ostriches will haunt my dreams for all days.
16: Costume Quest Prototype (3/3; 13 Minutes played; 1 star) - Buggy but charming mess.
17: Save the Date (3/3; 15 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Interesting one. Well worth the investment (zero dollars and fifteen minutes)
18: Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army 2 (3/3; 6 Hours played; 4 stars) - Very fun. End boss is a pain.
19: Hope: The Other Side of Adventure (3/3; 1 Hour played; 4 stars) - Cool format, dark game. Was expecting/hoping for a different ending.
20: Karateka (3/3; 35 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Simple, fun brawler with a good atmosphere.
21: Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space (3/4; 26 Minutes played; 5 stars) - This is a cool one. Will be playing this one again.
22: Hack n Slash Prototype (3/4; 47 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Very interesting. Recommend playing.
23: Wake (3/4; 44 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Cool platformer about escaping a sinking ship.
24: Savant - Ascent (3/4; 58 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Tough as crap, cool music.
25: Samorost (3/4; 15 Minutes played; 5 stars) - Neato point and click. Short and free and cool; everyone should play it.
26: McPixel (3/4; 1 Hour played; 3 stars) - Funny but grating.
27: Lee-Lee's Quest 2 (3/4; 25 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Decent platforming, pretty funny.

Thanks... made me glad I decided to pass on the current IR.
I wanted to like it, because Digital Eel seems really cool. I ended up giving up on BRAINPIPE: A Plunge to Unhumanity. That is the only game I have given up on this month other than Angvik. Their third game, Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space, is totally awesome, though. Highly recommend that one.

Cheap Ass Perverts:

On Wednesday, it became legal to take “upskirt” shots of unsuspecting women on public transportation in Massachusetts.

Existing so-called Peeping Tom laws protect people from being photographed in dressing rooms and bathrooms when nude or partially nude, but the way the law is written, it does not protect clothed people in public areas, the court said.

“A female passenger on a MBTA trolley who is wearing a skirt, dress, or the like covering these parts of her body is not a person who is ‘partially nude,’ no matter what is or is not underneath the skirt by way of underwear or other clothing,” the court said in its ruling.

State law “does not apply to photographing (or videotaping or electronically surveilling) persons who are fully clothed and, in particular, does not reach the type of upskirting that the defendant is charged with attempting to accomplish on the MBTA,” the court said.
Warning: Just because it's legal doesn't mean harm won't come to you or your valuables.

I just wanted to share my latest Steam obsession:

One Finger Deathpunch

I've seen lots of people give it praise in here, and I just want to say that I agree completely. It's extremely simple, it's very addictive, and it's quite fun.

Oh, and the achievements pour out of this game like candy out of a piñata, so if that excites you then take note.

Wait what? MysterD hopes that a game requires DRM? :joystick:
Well, sure - I'd ALWAYS rather the game have No DRM. ;)

So, don't get it twisted.

Of course - I could be really greedy here and say I want both DRM-FREE + Steam-versions. Sorry, some Humble Bundle's have spoiled me w/ that kinda treatment, hehe. ;)

But, let's face it - we're in a modern-day era where piracy is murderous to sales; publishers normally do want some kind of DRM as a security blanket; and Steam-versions sell well. I can tolerate Steam-DRM...especially if it's only Steam-DRM - I'm used to that.

Steam DRM is surely a hell of a lot better than dealing w/ the tons of problems one can have w/ that awful G4WL. I think the only real problem I've had w/ Steam was deleting the BLOB file that time long ago b/c I couldn't get Steam at all to boot my Library + letting it re-generate itself.

And likely, while a game's active and actually being widely played - Steam achievements; Steam leaderboards; Steam Cloud Saves; and any other Steam-features - yeah, all that stuff's sweet. :D

Does the internet connection have to be on?
See, it didn't say. I wonder if my computer can pick up on other people's internet signals (don't have their password, unfortunately) if that's enough.

Edit: of course as I post what else pops up but a mysterdrm post

I still don't get why you bash G4WL so much..it's way better than Steam. Much more user friendly and less intrusive.
FTFY. ;)

I've had to uninstall/reinstall G4WL & do some things to G4WL more times than I can shake a stick at for various reasons - G4WL program update don't take properly; game update wouldn't update properly; G4WL didn't open-up the proper ports itself when installing/reinstalling the program; no actual G4WL game would boot b/c G4WL got corrupted somehow; etc etc.

I luckily never ran into any of the famous "profile saves go missing" or "saves go corrupt" issues G4WL are known for (especially w/ FO3; G4WL versions of Batman AA + AC; Gears of War PC).

Steam - NEVER had to reinstall. Only been through really that regenerate the BLOB issue, after all of these years.

Dark Souls in particular has a risk/reward system that creates real tension that most games are missing. It feels like there is always something at stake and it influences your play style. Name another game that encourages play with the kind of cautious, defensive attitude that Dark Souls demands. It is why I love it, but I also dread starting the new game. This feeling diminishes some once you level up substantially or on subsequent play throughs, but never disappears entirely.

How many times have you been through...

ME1?

ME2?

and ME3?
1) Lost count.

2) Lost count.

3) Lost count.

At least a baker's dozen on each, I'd imagine. And when I finish up ME3 (today, I think), I'm going to try out the MP which I only dabbled in for like 5 minutes on PS3.
