I've held off on buying the complete pack because H&D kept getting more and more DLC tacked on. Judging from the forum, it looks like they still haven't released the SDK for it, which means they must still have something planned.

Edit: Oh, the collection doesn't include the Collector's Edition of H&D. At least it's available separately. It's about $8.15 for everything from a friendly Russian.

This type of "Pay Us Now Or Never Get It" achievement bothers me too. Other games that have this are:

Damn, I wish I was in college. I'd be at Gamestop or something in a few hours waiting to pick up Dark Souls 2 at midnight, then I'd be skipping class for the rest of the week.

We all do have the "Break the CAG rules" games - as awesome as Dark Souls 2 looks, I still want + need to finish the original Dark Souls PTD. Probably also why I'm not "that" stoked for this game - at least not yet that "stoked" for it, anyways. ;)

I also don't think Dark Souls 2 will really deviate too much from the original. I also don't wanna run into a scenario that say I do finish Dark Souls PTD, then plan to play Dark Souls 2 next....or close to it. Big-sized, long-winded games - especially RPG's, IMHO - need SPACING APART; especially if they don't look to be changing much or overhauling much in a sequel.

Yeah, I still need to get through Sen's Fortress. Was failing miserably there again Saturday, before AC3 began taking over my "currently playing" list.

sen's fortress is definitely a pain in the ass when you first play...i've played that game so many times now though that i can get through it no problem. the first time i played was extra difficult because i didn't really bother looking into how the upgrade system worked well into the game...i was using the drake sword until around the tomb of giants :dunce:

I was mildly tempted to get it but then the whole downgrade scandal broke. Not sure how it's possible but they somehow managed to make it look even worse then the previous 2 games. Will wait for the Durante Deluxe Edition.

College isn't that great. You'll fail after missing a certain # of classes. At my school it's 3 absences for classes every other day, and 1 absence for core classes.

mehhh. i saw this. not happy about it, but i dont really play dark souls for the graphics...either way it'll end up looking better overall than dark souls or demon souls did, so it's fine w/me.

Having graduated from college a year and half ago i can attest it was pretty fuck ing great. Not sure where you go to school, but most places don't have attendance requirements, that I've heard of. Sometimes professors will institute policies, but usually there aren't ones made by the school.

The left is super deluxe bait n switch footage from demos at a few shows versus the right which is what you get now on the consoles. We can only hope the PC will look more like the one on the left. The whole darkness thing was supposed to be a new mechanic. You could light the way with torches and various sconces on the walls.

Mine won't get here til thursday, which works fine because i have a paper due for grad school wednesday. When i get off work thursday i can start playing...can't wait.

It's not so much that it looks bad (and it does look bad) it's that they completely erased one of the new gameplay mechanics they pitched.

yeah i misunderstood what you were getting at w/my first post...but my second post was more aimed at what you're saying. i got it for xbox, so i'm hoping it may be different for that...who knows. still willing to wait til i see it w/my own eyes before i pass judgement, and there is the option, i hope (there was w/dark souls), to increase/decrease brightness, which may/may not help.

hoping for the best, expecting the worst. even so, i dont think it would ruin the game for me or anything

Welp, do keep me informed. Despite me being a Debbie Downer, I do still want it but I'm definitely holding out of the PC version.

I was playing with my priest/knight, and since I wanted new faith spells (there's SO few of them early on) I went to go save that priest girl in the Tomb of the Giants early on. It wasn't too terrible getting through the Catacombs (which is arguably one of the most difficult places in the game) because early on I upgraded the shit out of my halberd and turned it into a divine weapon. All those skeletons that normally resurrect themselves in the Catacombs? Nope, divine halberd kills them permanently. Pinwheel was a fucking pushover too, killed him first try.

Then I got to Tomb of the Giants though, and honestly it just pissed me off. The whole game had such perfect level design and bonfire placement. I get there and 1. there's no bonfire by the entrance, so you're forced to go through most of the Catacombs just to get to TotG, and 2. the level design is just utterly trolling. Tiny ledges make up everything, you're in total darkness except for a tiny bubble around your character, and you're forced to fight giant skeletons on these tiny ledges. You really can't roll, the skeletons are very strong and will kill you in like 2 hits, and you can't block either because they send you flying backwards... and off the ledge to your death.

All in all, I just got tired of spending 20 minutes running through the Catacombs, getting to TotG, just to die and start all over again. I gave it like 5 tries and said "Yeah, fuck this." As hard as the game is, the difficulty was fair and fun. That place is just From Software trolling, and it pissed me off. Technically you're supposed to go to Blighttown and Sen's Fortress BEFORE the Catacombs as far as difficulty goes, so I was dumb for trying to skip through to such a high level area, but yeah. Frustration will make me stop playing games for untold amounts of time.

Disappointing, but by the time I beat Dark Souls 1, 2 will be much cheaper, on the PC, and fans will have patched and modded the shit out of it and it will be glorious. I'm not terribly worried.

Yup, I would have cared about it on my 360 days but that's only because MS did such a brilliant job in integrating achievements into their system... Sony (with the PS3) and Steam not so much. They're far too hidden. I'm glad they're have them but its just not a huge draw for me. (Steam is even worse than the PS3 as at least you level up by earning them... on Steam they don't even have that.)

Considering that allot of the staff was working on GD as a second job for a much of that time I think that's a bit misleading... Its been in the works for less than two years if you go by the KS.

Got to admit... TimeGate Studios does some good work.

I bought the guide for Dark Souls 2 (mostly because its more than just a guide) but I'm waiting for the PC version... I'm tempted by preorder but I really don't know what I'll end up doing.

 
Tried Sang-Froid.  Couldn't get past the first few missions.  Action parts are just too slow and clunky.  Better off playing OMD or even Sanctum.
