Ok thanks frisky. I already own PvsZ on multiple platforms so I'll probably not buy it again. That Vikings invasion looked decent enough fir the price. Guess I'll see if I can find some gameplay videos and make my decision from there.

Swords and Soldiers was pretty fun when I tried it on PS3 via PS+.

Though not sure that counts as a true "tower defense" game.

The new deals for this week:

3D Game Collection - $4.99 - 17% Off - Ends 3/13

Brunch Panic - $2.79 - 30% Off - Ends 3/13

World Conqueror 3D - $3.99 - 33% Off - Ends 3/13

New this week is Renegade for the NES Virtual Console for $4.99 and Tappingo for $2.99. Profressor Layton and the Azran Legacy is out tonight at Midnight for $39.99.

Isn't this like the 3 year anniversary for the 3ds? (Thought I read that somewhere). Heck even the vita gets a 2 year anniversary sale.

In Japan the anniversary was on the 26th but for the US it's at the end of March.

We could still see a good sale next month.

Tappingo for $2.99.
Anyone picked up Tappingo yet? Impressions if so? Looks pretty good. Some people are saying it plays like Picross? Can't go wrong for that price, I guess.

I got it last night and played a few levels. It has a pretty simple (dare I say bare bones) interface, but it's certainly enjoyable and worth the $ 2.99.

Having been playing Picross 3D for the last few weeks I'm very excited for Tappingo.

Edit- didn't even realize it's out already? If so than I'll get it tonight with my discounted eShop credit.

Went from Picross 3D to Tappingo. It's clearly no Picross but kind of novel and 16 puzzles in rather fun so far. Definitely worth $3 if you like puzzle games.

After getting some more eshop credit on sale from Best Buy last week I finally pulled the trigger on Phoenix Wright and the DLC. Damn that game is good.

One of the reasons (most) Nintendo games retain their value over time while other games plummet in value not too long after release.

Soon it shall emerge from it's cocoon, no longer shovelware but now Shovelknight! It is funny that garbage like this doesn't seem to go on sale on any other platform like it does on the 3DS.
I suppose 3DS is the system of choice to scam children into buying junk when they don't know any better. Surely it's the same situation on iOS/Android, which I suppose would be the other system children are likely to be on.

Who gets to chose sale prices anyway? Is Nintendo telling these guys that they can put their game on sale or can they do it at will? If this is Nintendo's decision (as I believe it is on the other platforms) then I've got to seriously wonder WTF they're thinking. Have the guys at Nintendo even played this stuff?

So much for the Nintendo Seal of Quality.

This might actually be it. Back in the 80's and 90's a cool looking box and a great name would be enough shift shovelware in quantities that lead to great profits for companies like THQ. That kind of thing doesn't work with the much more expensive HD games and more info on the Internet. Meanwhile Super Princess Dress Up Castle and Shoot lots of Cans off of Fences seem to be doing it on the 3DS. Oh, and Farmville Rip off one million.

Pokemon Battle Trozei March 20th. Can't wait.

http://www.pokemontrozei.com/en-us/

Interesting about Streetpass. Doesn't seem a huge feature, but maybe a way to collect them all?

"Pokémon Battle Trozei is compatible with your Nintendo 3DS system’s StreetPass function. When you pass by another person who is playing Pokémon Battle Trozei, you'll be able to exchange play data. If you have set Favorite Pokémon, they will be shared. Any Pokémon you receive will become your allies!

You won’t lose your Favorite Pokémon by sharing them with others via StreetPass, so don’t hesitate to show off your favorites to the world!"

The rights holder for the game I would assume makes these decisions within whatever policy Nintendo has about eShop sales.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Denpa Men 2 basically a better version of the first?  Doesn't seem to be much point playing the first one rather than the second.  And then the third will finally come out here and we'll do it all over again.

I have both the first two but haven't played them.

I played the first, but never beat it. I know you can carry over your save.... but beyond that, I don't know much about the second game. I might pick it up, but honestly I still think the price is a bit high on it.

The Denpa Men 3: The Rise of Digitoll Is Spreading To The West This Summer

DEMO HITS IN MAY

one bad thing one rumor is   price point  could be  14.99 to  19.99

Well, you have to keep in mind the audience as well. Much like Steam, many PS or Xbox owners are older and more appreciative of money.

Most, not all, Nintendo owners are kids. Their parents do not shop on the eshop, they buy physical goods. Their games generally sell anyways at full price with the same consistency cause less of the console owners are purchasing said games. You see sales for digital shovelware cause it doesn't sell, and it is only digital. Can't be bought in physical form so almost no chance of a parent or whoever gifting it. Digital is not gift friendly. It is mostly self-bought purchases.

So yeah...Although digital definitely saves publishers money, it loses giftability. That should totally be a word. ;)

Well not to get into that argument but I would say it's more a reflection of how successful the DS and Wii were that you could churn out any cheap piece of shovelware and there were enough uninformed buyers that you would still make money on it and the eShop continues to enable that to some degree.

Oh yeah, agreed. Just with a digital environment gifting is usually left to an older crowd. I speak to the majority, at least in what seems yo be Nintendo's mind. The best selling digital stuff for Nintendo is, at a 100% guess, probably older titles from past platforms.

As far as digital gifting, aside from steam, is only offered by specific vouchers for digital copies. Parent may it get digital from bestbuy, but certainly not from the eshop, as far as majority goes. If the recipient expresses a major interest in digital goods, or it is the only option ala Kindle or iOS, they'll get a gift card.

Physical goods get a sales spike largely due to retailers, but without that distribution issuse, their sales are solely controlled by a depression in sales to garner an extra boost at their own leisure.

It is my opinion that Sony and Ms push sales to publishers because it helps console sales and such, and they do get a cut. But again, that goes back to the main "target" audience of kids. Yeah, I have a 3DS for certain games and am not a kid. But Nintendo has always sucked with lowering prices on games. Even 3rd party. My guess is they see no outlying decline in sales. Kids definitely aren't the only owners of Nintendo products, but definitely Moreso than Sony or MS.

That being said, I believe that sales on the eshop of more than shovelware would help push the platform like it does for Steam and PlayStation. They rock with sales.

Bit the bullet and picked up Denpa Men 2.

I will play it eventually. Probably after finishing Bravely Default, Zelda, and the first Denpa Men.

Gaming ADD, I have it.

I just wanted to take a moment to heartily recommend everyone play Attack of the Friday Monsters. I know most of you downloaded it in one of the two recent sales. I started playing it yesterday, and it took just over three hours to complete. It was a really wonderful experience. Definitely recalls the special magic of being a kid. Highly recommend.

Once I finish Bravely Default, I'll probably run through Denpa Men 1 (or finish it if I can remember where I was) before starting 2.

Sadly, I play more at work and in small bursts than through long sessions anymore.

Wow, never heard of denpa men until the sale... it looks like DQ meets pokemon.  I'll pick up the second one and play the demo for the first... hopefully the first game goes on sale sometime in the future.  Now if only they could put some more meaningful games on the wii u so I can play on the gamepad while the wife watches TV.
