Steam keys are now up on Indie Royale for Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae if you had the foresight and belief to invet in Debut Bundle 7.

Incidentally, I think we're due another Debut bundle with greenlight crap sometime this week. Looking back at my history tab, every third bundle seems to be an IR Debut and the last two were the Mixer 2 and Pancake bundles.

I know this has bugger all relevance to anything we've been talking about today but I feel I need some kind of justification for my IR habit.

Okay, I'll bite... Is backlogging porn like some sort of anal fetish?

Thank you! I'll be here all week!

On another forum I visit, someone recently bitched that they had just watched all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and all of the Angel spin-off and didn't understand why people liked the show. So you're one up on that guy.

I have no opinions on BtVS but I know better than to watch seven seasons of a show I'm not enjoying.
This is easily explainable- marriage. I've watched season after season of True Blood and haven't enjoyed any scene without the red head. Also, children. I've watched 6 seasons of Curious George too many times to count.

*holds hand up*

I used to do this. Then we had baby Octavius and ~70% of my free time evaporated. I'm much more likely to bin something off after a few levels/episodes than I used to. I gave up on Misfits after one episode of season 3 because it just got silly (and they got rid of my favourite character).

I'd like to think that I value what little free time I have more, to the point where I'm incredibly picky with what I actually play.

:whee:
It feels like pressure to me. This little bit of time to myself better be extraordinary, because I don't know when I'll get some again. It's almost ruined gaming and TV for me. I haven't been able to watch much TV or play games that I feel are worthy of my free time.

The worst is music. I don't listen to music anymore. I don't have time to dig through sites to find bands I like. I've grown into my dad. I listen to the same shit I listened to 10 years ago. Well, that and children's songs.

I pay $8.53 a month for a curious george subscription. Kids are the best.

Anybody see Windforge? It's Terraria in the air with a Steampunk theme plus the ability to kill and butcher whales.

Definitely been waiting for a game like this.

Thanks for the link, but I'm not really interested. I thought it was funny in the video it says "Whales are becoming extinct" and then it shows the player hook his ship onto a whale and then butcher it and mine it for resources...

Played enough of this in GTA V to not want to do it again, thanks. Although who doesn't want to live the amazing and exciting life of a tow truck driver?
I don't know why they don't use a conventional tow truck and also notice in the video they never take you through a full tow of a car. They skip the frustratingly horrible hooking and unhooking mechanics. I'm on to them though. This looks just like Tow Truck Simulator just with 2015 added to it.

Avoid Witcher 2, it's complete and total console gutter trash. The first one isn't anything amazing but it's always dirt cheap and on sale so it's worth a play I guess.

I like Witcher 1 more than Witcher 2.

I wouldn't praise them the way their reviews seem to, but we have so few interesting RPGs nowadays that I will certainly buy Witcher 3.

No, I mean RPG. You may not know what that means, especially if you think the game has "loose" RPG elements.

The Demon's Souls/Dark Souls are some of the deepest RPGs I've played since Baldur's Gate II.

That's not at all the same thing and barely an RPG. I think you meant action game with some lose RPG elements.
Definitely up to one's interpretation of RPG, that's for sure. Good deal of character customization and they did a nice job of world-building.

Story? Narrative choice? ....not so much. And those things are why I play RPGs. ...But to each his own.

Dark Souls is about the experience. That's why people talk over and over of their frustrations and sense of satisfaction in accomplishment.

That sky whaling game... I'm usually willing to overlook shortcomings if a game looks interesting enough, but reading that review has actually managed to put me off from wanting to give it a try. I'm pretty sure I'd spend the whole time wishing I were playing Terraria or Starbound.

Snow Sakura looked nice. Are either of them any good? Just VNs, I'd assume.
Replying under spoiler.

Yes, both are just VN's. Neither tries to do anything outside the typical genre.

Snow Sakura is mostly lighthearted and I did enjoy it a lot. The story is long and there's a lot of time spent just hanging out with the circle of friends throughout the school year. There's an extra short story after doing all the paths, though it didn't add anything to the game. The music was pretty good. What I didn't like was that the avatar acted in ways I never would, there were path events that should have occurred in the other paths as well and mysteriously did not, and some of the paths had drama that was unnecessarily eyerollingly teen angsty, just to give the story some kind of a conclusion.

A Drug that Makes You Dream was beautiful. At its core is a story about bullying, and it gets really heavy. I recommend it. If you avoid the bullying path, there are two other path options that feel kind of tacked on to make a more robust VN out of what would have otherwise been a fine story on its own. One is lackluster, and the other includes a plot twist that stayed interesting through to the end even if some elements go beyond suspension of disbelief. There's good tension throughout the stories, particularly between the avatar character and his family as situations become dire. A bit of humorous self-awareness, too.

Wrong again, hey that's two for two! Would you like to go for Double Jeopardy where the scores can really change? I was playing real RPGs while you were just a sparkle in your momma's eye, sport.

So, Race the Sun, worth it at 5 bucks or should I wait for the bundle?

- Edited to add I just got Titanfall so I'll be busy playing that for a while so I'm unsure if I would get to it right away or in a couple weeks.

Might as well wait, then. I know it's a running joke, but lately near everything really has been getting bundled.

These kids today and what they consider RPGs.  :shame: In my day we had turn based combat with sprites and we liked it!  :oldman:

Anyhoo, TMNT and Cabela's huntin' games are on sale cheapest to date on Gamefly when you factor in the additional 20% MAR20OFF voucher code.

$6 doesn't sound so bad for TMNT but I suppose it could go cheaper at some point. There's a lot of complaints about the coop but I don't care so much about that.

I just checked the reviews for TMNT, apparently the video settings suck and online co-op is broken and has never been fixed. None of the achievements are tied to multiplayer.

It's a licensed game, and it might be taken down in the future, so...

Race the Sun is easily one of the best games I've picked up in ages! I've been playing it off and on for months and still haven't tired of it; well worth the cost!

For further thoughts: -->Steam Review<--

Another option is to try the free browser version, which while not anywhere near as refined as the full game, is still a decent approximation to what you should expect.

There is actually a ton of story in Dark Souls, it's just not readily apparent. The covenants also allow for lots of roleplaying ability (the covenants can arguably very well line up with D&D alignments). And really, there's no set definition for what makes an RPG an RPG. I'd say Dark Souls is definitely an action/rpg hybrid.

worth it, but wait for either bundle or for it to hit 2.50.

OMG!

I just won Titanfall PC in a Twitter contest!

EDIT:

OMG @ 49.99 GB download...
And 35 GB of uncompressed audio, because...

Ugh, I tired to force it but abandoned True Blood after 5 episodes... I like the world-premise, but the show just blows... lacking in depth/breadth/pace. I've only seen 4 episodes of The Vampire Diaries, but that's a much better show (at least it reaches the bar of an decent social-drama, with enough going on). (And I'm not downmarking True Blood for the sex scenes.)

For music, when I don't have time to hunt down new stuff... Streaming Radio, let it come to me

soda : pop :: PC : console :: parents : hentai :: silverware down : silverware up :: Steam DRM : DRM free :: analogy : analorgy
Toilet Paper: Underhand or Overhand mounted?

It's excellent. There's an online demo version you can try. http://www.kongregate.com/games/flippfly/race-the-sun

Uh, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you'd define a RPG as a game that allows you and your character to play a role.

Dumbass.
I hate when that argument comes up on the internet 'Well technically an RPG is a game that lets you play a role'. Right, so if I play Angry fucking Birds then I'm playing an RPG?

Every game has you playing some kind of role or other no matter how lame. And everyone knows what you mean by RPG even if some people want to get nitpicky over semantics.
