Lego and Marvel / DC have had sets for quite a while now.

http://www.superherohype.com/news/167931-sdcc-lego-teams-with-marvel-and-dc

And... Disney surprisingly keeps their hands off Marvel. They don't really interfere with their business, they only own them. The only things they've messed with are the game licenses, everything else is up to Marvel itself.
Personally, I'm still annoyed they yanked the Star Wars comic license from Dark Horse and gave it back to Marvel. *grumblegrumble*

CSGO easily worth it at that price, it basically pays for itself if you are lucky enough to get a phoenix case drop by playing the game or a EMS One souvenir package by steaming the Katowice tournament going on this weekend.
Do those things randomly drop when you play? And also, how is this game for people who aren't the best at shooting things? Are there bots that I can still have fun with? Are people nice about noobs or are they like L4D?

That Lego Marvel game looks great, I'm tempted. I suffered Lego burnout after playing Batman 2 and then LOTR back to back, I had to abandon LOTR after a few hours.
That's what I'm afraid will happen to me, which is why I'm conspicuously avoiding it. Also I will probably never actually buy another LEGO game again. Except maybe LEGO Rock Band 2, although I haven't really finished the first one yet.

Well Lego LOTR was a boring ass game, after this time away from LEGO and the appeal of another open world superhero game I think I could easily get into the Marvel one. My main hesitation is I want to use up my Steam wallet credit and I'll never do that if I keep buying games from other stores.

I've come to the realization that I haven't completed a LEGO game since Star Wars, Batman and the first Indiana. Bats 2 bored me, as did both Potter titles and the second Indiana title. I think I'll stay interested if I get the Marvel one, if only because I like their characters more.

So if there's a 20% coupon (is there?) at Gamefly that brings Marvel to around 68% off, for all we know it could only go down to 70% in the summer sale so this could be the time to jump on it. :whistle2:k

I passed 500 games on Steam yesterday!

I mostly lurk around here, but I've been posting more frequently lately.  My PC was seven or eight years old when I built a new rig this past May.  I had about 40 or so Steam games after four years with a Steam account.  I had pretty much exclusively been gaming on consoles for the last 5 plus years.  Once I built the new box, I wanted to catch up on all the great PC gaming I had missed.  I could run just about anything maxed out, and started buying some games.  Then I started hanging around this thread...

Now I'm snapping up bundles like crazy and regretting everything I buy individually (it's all bundled eventually).  The backlog has grown to epic proportions.

Anyway, I come for the deals, but I stick around for the community.  Thanks to all!

yeah things randomly drop, you get either a random weapon skin or a weapon case [you need key to open these, similar to TF2]. CS is a bit harder than the usual FPS game, its a little bit more "realistic" because of recoil you won't always hit where your crosshair is positioned and there are also 1-hit kills [headshots]

Counter-Strike generally is not good to newbies, but as long as you avoid competitive play you should be fine. I recommend playing arms race first to learn to use all the different weapons and then play deathmatch and casual to learn recoil patterns and map layout. You can play offline with bots but that gets boring really fast. Overall, this game requires a lot of time and commitment to get good at, I'm 500 hrs in and I'm still so bad at it but I have enjoyed every hour I've played.

redesigned steam controller looking much better, idk what kind of moon octopus they designed the original for but they were definitely not made for human hands
Honestly, I'm still surprised they thought they could get away with a lack of buttons.

Touchscreens -> no physical buttons. (and the reason I feel many games suck on touchscreens... I'm not playing some damn touchscreen shump.)

Operation Phoenix is basically the community created maps from Operation Bravo and Payback, no new maps this time but I am glad that Cache comes back. It took me a while to upgrade my Bravo Coin to gold, thanks to my good teammates. The game requires a lot of commitment and place great emphasis on teamwork.

As someone who's played a fair share of the CS games over the years, I agree. Although, I've rarely witnessed any abusive behavior whenever I've played GO. It's definitely not nearly as bad as L4D2 or League of Legends in that regard for regular matches, but competitive play can be hit or miss in that department.

Counter-Strike is one of those games that can sink it's teeth into you and not let go for a while. If you like the tactical multiplayer shooter genre. Before really joining CAG I was a CS:Source junky, pouring 1100 hours into it since early 2007. I bought CS:GO on release, but I just haven't been as hooked with it since my backlog has experienced exponential growth (thanks to finding CAG-land). I still play on occasion and when I have it's pretty fun. The case drops offer a nice incentive while playing because you can unload them on the market.

If anyone's on the fence I'd highly recommend picking it up for $3.74. Especially if you liked playing games like Rainbow Six (Raven Shield/Athena Sword) multiplayer and SWAT 4.

I'll jump in the CS:GO topic. I have been playing a couple of months and its been rough at times. It has a definite learning curve, and if you come from the C.O.D. world like me, they are nothing alike.  Learn the maps, the weapons, and how to work with your team.

It gets a lot better once you get the basics down, and can be a fun time-suck.

Hardly. Some of those just weren't cheap enough yet.

  • Binary Domain hasn't quite hit a low enough price point. (And that may still be true even with this bundle.)
  • Typing of the Dead hasn't quite hit a low enough price point. (Again, that may still be true.)
  • Typing of the Dead has DLC so that might be best to wait for a complete version or Amazon bundle.
  • I keep skipping the Total War series hoping the Grandmaster Pack actually gets cheap.
(True, though, the rest are dupes for me.)
Typing of the Dead, Hell Yeah, Renegade Ops are what I'm missing.

I already have AP from Retail (w/ last patch, it's DRM-FREE) - but my laziness is telling me to at least buy Tier #1 for Hell Yeah and to put AP on Steam.

I swear, I'm getting lazier by the day as I do more game-downloads and installs of complete-files from off my HDD.

People are complaining about the Sega bundle?  Pretty sure there was no way you could have gotten all of those games for $6 total in the past.

OMG @ Mooby actually not complaining.

/LIKE

Even despite having some repeats for me & each key for a Full-Tier, still...I'm still hella-tempted.

Is CS:GO any good?

Seriously - I never even tried CS original, CS Source - all of which I do have.
Read above, how the fuck would I know? It's a competitive multiplayer FPS... one of the few breeds of games I just stay away from (NFL/NBA/etc are the only other category that come to mind).

I've had TF2 since the Orange Box launched... Hours Played: Zero

I thought I'd have gotten worn out w/ competitive FPS's after COD: Ghosts free weekend...

....and then Titanfall came along.

Attrittion and Last Titan Standing modes rock.

EDIT:

Mechs, wall-jumping, double-jumping just makes everything BETTER. :D

And that's just for starters here.

I'm a very, very average FPS player and I struggled with CS:GO's "proper" modes. They're all very realisticish but that doesn't suit me at all. I don't have the patience to play that kinda stuff.

The runaround shooting whatever moves modes (a la Call of Duty multiplayer) are pretty good though.

It'll be cheap again. Next time there's a free weekend, give it a try. I wouldn't rush into buying.

Speaking of SWAT 4, I wonder why it's not on Steam. Was it ever, then removed? Irrational Games developed it and Vivendi Universal Games & Sierra Entertainment published back in 2005. That was a fun game with some interesting scenarios. The serial killer's house is one that stood out as fairly creepy and memorable.

Apparently Activision Blizzard now owns the series but as of October 2013 a SWAT 5 game is as dead as drift wood.

"The publisher at the time asked us if we wanted to do SWAT 5, but we just didn't know what else we had to say that was interesting in that space," explained (Ken) Levine
Sad.

However, BioShock was the next game Irrational Games released in 2007. In retrospect I'm glad they never developed SWAT 5 and instead diverted attention to what is/was one of the best atmospheric FPS in the last generation. Funny how things work out the way they do.

I got SWAT 4 + its expansion sitting on my retail games shelf.

Never touched them.

As far as I know SWAT 4 has never been on Steam. That game was fantastic and I would love a SWAT 5, but in this day and age of runshootgogogo fps, it would not sell. Closest we'll get is possibly some okay-ish indie game eventually.

I still have fun with TF2. I get yelled at all the time for my reckless style but numbers don't lie and when you are first in points and move the payload cart, you just don't care.
