I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Portal and Portal 2 are in no way overrated.

They have a 90 and 95, respectively, on Metacritic. If anything, I think I'd switch those two scores.

Portal set out to do what it intended almost perfectly. The gameplay was innovative. The story was told brilliantly. The length was perfect. It was like a great meal and left you wanting just a little more.

Portal 2 was also excellent, but perhaps a little long and the story wasn't told as elegantly as the first. It did have a brilliant co-op mode though.

I get that it isn't going to appeal to 100% of the people, but you've got to at least recognize it for what it is -- an expertly crafted series.

hal, you're not really going out on a limb with that unless I missed the yellow Comic Sans.

I'll give Portal this much: it looks pretty, GlaDOS was an interesting character, and the audio was well done. I don't know what story you're referring to, because the only story that I encountered was player is stuck in Aperture Science testing facility and must complete puzzles in order to move on/escape/survive. Outside of GlaDOS the game was devoid of any personality, which is okay, I guess, because there simply weren't really any other characters to speak of (and cubes don't count). It felt too long to me but frankly it wasn't an enjoyable experience. Once you got past the first 10 or so levels, it was just a grind to move on to the next one. I'm still not really convinced that the gameplay was even innovative because portals of this sort have been incorporated into games at least as far back as Prey.

As for Portal 2, I'm not enough of a masochist to subject myself to that all over again.

It was there, you missed it, your loss. #2deep4warreni

The co-op was amazing. only got stuck really once. Had a great time playing it even though my wife sucks at first person games. ^^

The Single Player part portal 2 was a beautiful game. I felt they tried to hard on trying for memes, and making the game play gimmicky. Once it got gimmicky, I just wanted to finish it, and be done.

I only have the first one... (And its DLC) but have never really done anything with it other than idle cards and try one heist on my own...
I have the first and only ever played co-op for the winter event badge one year. Ape-irate 2serious4syntax L4D2 players turned me off from pick-up co-op shooters and I don't have any friends I hook up with for that sort of thing.

I did play a few missions solo with bots but they're not much fun that way. At least L4D2 has some amusing Ellis banter and more of a feel to it when you're going solo.

10 hours for what...Portal? I think that took me roughly 3 hours.
I imagine if he kept getting stuck.. it could take 10 hours. Don't know why it was so hard for him though, Portal 1 isn't exactly a difficult game.
Okay, I checked Steam and it was 6.5 hours. That felt like 10.

Here's my Portal review and this is the last I'll say about it, at least until someone brings up the topic again in some completely-unrelated post.

I imagine there are some Steam deals or something coming up that someone wants to post. . . .

Portals make me think of doughnuts. I like doughnuts.

Portal.

Wut? You can easy beat the game in less time than a typical day at school or work... Surely you don't need no recap.
One does not simply beat Metal Gear Solid once.

Just recently finished Bioshock Infinite, and it really impressed me. One of the better games I've played, and I really don't get into FPS often.
I just finished it last week. After playing 1 and 2 solely to be ready for 3, and enjoying them a lot, I was let down by Infinite. Good game but disappointing in the context of the series. :whistle2:(

For anyone that has Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands Deluxe, does Sands of Time appear as a separate Steam game in your Library, or is it crammed into the in-game menu of Forgotten Sands, like say, the Doom games in Doom 3 BFG?

Daily "deal", Indie Game: The Movie for $2.49 (-75%)

If somehow you missed it in the Humble Bundle and still want to see it, they have it on Netflix instant.
I gave that steam key away when I got that Humble Bundle, I prefer to stream it from the Humble site if I really want to watch it. I just don't like having one documentary film among my games collection, maybe if they start selling more indie movies then things could change but for now it just felt odd to me and they have Free to Play. :whistle2:?

I still haven't added it to my Steam collection... I don't like the thought of some rubbish movie bringing disharmony to my game library. ...Then it got 'chieves. (I still haven't added it yet, but...) (And cards, for the cards >> all else crowd.)

I don't have any trouble believing people didn't finish Portal games. The only way I was able to finish the first one was through relying very heavily on online walkthroughs. And it was tedious as f*ck. Yeah, I get that people think GlaDOS was a great character but the gameplay sucked. I'm not sure I'd play 2 if Valve paid me to do it.
:nottalking:

Well, i recognize a couple bundle bits in there:

8-bit Commando

Ampu-Tea

Derrick the Deathfin

Oknytt

Project Night

Questrun

What am I missing?
Shadows on the Vatican - The Series, Goscurry and Micron were bundled too.

Actual Sunlight is also in current Humble A Bundle of Love for Brandon.

Not Steam related but $imCity (2013) added the "Offline" mode today. A full year after release (March 5th) :wall:

Oh EA...
That was never the part that bothered me. Well, except for the part where it was always online and no one could connect for awhile. Needing to be connected related to the bigger design decisions of expecting you to play with other people and each have one or more small cities working together rather than one big sandbox to play in, which is what I come to games like that for. At this point I'm not concerned with my connection status, and they aren't going it to be a fundamentally different game, so I think I'll wait for the next one. At least I hope they do another one, because the rest of the game looks great to me.

HOLY CRAP. PIER SOLAR GOT GREENLIT.

:D/

And Shadows of the Vatican. Well... isn't the developer um. Dead? They released Episode 1 in bundles several times and they never released the rest of the series. Hell, a preorder for Episode 2 was sold on Bundle in a Box back in DECEMBER 2012. And they want to release four episodes?
