Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

Zen Studios announced that they're bringing Pinball FX2 to Xbox One along with Definitive Editions of CastleStorm and KickBeat in a few months.

My interest in Pinball FX2 hinges on whether the tables are Cross Buy or not.

 
i had no idea x1 was getting another update in april it includes

For those of you that participated in last month’s (1403) update preview, this preview wave will be a little different:

The 1404 update preview will run a bit longer than the 1403 preview. As a result, not all of the features listed below will be available in the first 1404 update. Some features will be enabled in 1404 updates that are rolled out later in the preview.

Some of the features listed below will be enabled outside of a console update. Keep an eye on the forums for announcements and information on when new features are made available.

What’s new in this release?

  • Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently.
  • Friends improvements. Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This actually was one of the most frequently requested features from the first preview wave and we made it a priority to include it in the April update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list. We’ll also add the ability to view friends’ most popular apps.
  • Blu-ray 50 Hz video output support for content recorded at 50 Hz will resolve video playback issues some Xbox Live members in Europe are experiencing.
  • Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to fine tune the quality and reliability of Xbox One commands.
  • Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements.
  • Updates to Xbox One device management to address issues controlling TVs, set top boxes, and receivers that our customers have reported.
  • New audio settings to tune how much volume is lowered when Kinect is used in communications.

i give ms credit they are taking what user say and giving what we what. Should have these things been in system at launch i think so but ms did this with 360 also so not shocked.

yeah the higher ups did not get what they wanted. it's obvious a domino effect the higher ups at xbox screwed stuff up and the even higher ups at microsoft want a change. plus the higher ups have been at ms for long time i guess you think people never leave for new things.

I never said people won't leave for new things but when its a bunch of them in a close amount of time its either A) They were all forced out or B) something is going down and they went to get out before it does.

Two key executives is hardly "A Bunch" and I have no doubt Matrick was either forced out due to the way he was running the division, or he saw how much bank he could screw Zynga out of so he jumped on that deal. Whitten I don't think was forced out, and I doubt anything big conspiracy theory wise is going down much to your disappointment, I think he simply left for a new venture.

Yes,ill be ever so disappointed. Its prob nothing. People leave companies all the time. I dont know how any of that is a conspiracy though but alright.

You just made two posts saying it has to be a big deal or something big is going down and now you're saying it's nothing. :wall:

 
Anyone getting Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes? I know there's been a lot of talk about it being a "Sell out" and a scammy paid demo, but I think I'm still going to pick it up just because I'm a huge fan of the series.

Will probably cancel my Gamestop preorder and get the Toys R us deal instead.

I had a preorder on it at Newegg, then got the GCU at BB but haven't bit yet. Have only found one review so far, notching it a 3 out of 5 stars... so I may just hold off for Watch Dogs and put my 360 to use.

was planning to get it from gamefly. Long story short even if i had no games out and it was only one on my list i still did notget it today :(. i see it's only 20 bucks digital so i might pick it up.

 
I'm getting it. Only paid $25 shipped due to my GCU, plus get BB points, and I love the series. Shame it's short, but I plan to replay it at least twice and do all the side missions and explore. I'm sure it'll last me 4+ hours.

CEOs move around, especially after the product they're in charge of has a successful launch. It's pretty hilarious to see all the people on the internet, mostly god awful ponies, saying "Xbox ship is sinking haha look at their CEOs jumping ship". Nobodies ship is sinking, both consoles are selling a lot. Umm, were you also not around when Jack Trenton leaving Sony news broke? I didn't see a bunch of Hahaha Sony is sinking, abandon ship, actually it was a lot of farewell he was a great man. Double standards always and for Trenton it just felt probably like the best time to do something else since he's been with Sony for a long time. I think the guy deserves a vacation and a stock option.

I'm getting Ground Zeroes. If you,plan on really getting into Phantom Pain, there are bonuses from playing GZ. I figure, if you know what to expect going in, GZ should be a good experience. I would have paid $30 for the MGS2 demo back in the day. That demo was a revelation.
 
I'll play it at some point. But since Phantom Pain is a ways off, plenty of time to wait for this to go cheap.  Or just rent it of Redbox had it around me.

MGS Ground Zeroes came in the mail today.  I have it installed and hope to dig into it tonight.  Between this, Strider which I need to finish  and Titanfall.....I doubt I'll be seeing my 360 any time soon. 

 
What are the odds MS will come out with a new version of the One before October? With Arkham Knight being next-gen only I'll be getting one that month if not before. I had hoped I'd be good much longer until I had to take the plunge but alas it had to happen at some point.

 
You might be able to get the Arkham Knight Xbox One bundle but I don't think they'll have a new system. 

Yeah some "indie" hopefuls are heading to Xbox One, list in the link but main ones for me is Guacamelee, Hyper Light Drifter, Super Time Force, Strike Suit Zero and Pinball Arcade!

 
I dug into GZ tonight, only played an hour or so. I remember buying Zone of the Enders for the MGS2 demo and I felt the same way about this game. I will literally spend hours playing this! If you're still on the fence about this game it's time to get over here and get it! If you love the Metal Gear franchise, you will not be disappointed with the amount of content.

 
Agreed. I finished the main op last night and two hours flew by. Definitely very Metal Gearish and a ton of replay value.

it was a great blend of what we love from MGS and with current game design sensibilities. Very well done.
 
I will wait till it gets major price drop. I'm never been a collecter of stuff in games. So I don't see a 2-3 hours of gameplay worth 30 bucks.

This is nothing more then konami making Kojima to put out product this early to make them money.

That's the thing. Its 2 hours for the main mission. There are 5 more missions of varying length. I'm definitely replaying the main mission, then tackling the rest. There is easily 5 to 8 hours of content.

to get the 5th mission you have to collect everything in game which is dumb. most youtube and twitch stuff i watched people beat everything in 4 hours. main mission only has about 30- 60 mins of gameplay rest is video. each to his own i guess but it's just awful what konami did and i don't support it one bit.

 
just got the april update i really like the friends online message is back they even show when 360 friends come online. rumors are starting to flow around the internet that ms is working on allowing 360 people to talk with x1 people. I know x1 uses complete diff chat tech which ms said would never allow cross system chat so not sure how true those rumors are.

It would be nice if I could see what games Xbox One friends were currently playing. I would think Microsoft would want that since it's sort of marketing in its own right. Chatting from both consoles would be a cool feature though.

Can't cross system chat because of the audio codec. I agree about the games though, and they should see the gamerscore of cross system games.
 
i would HATE a system being sold with out kinect. With a bundle with out kinect you can say good bye to any decent stuff coming out for the kinect just like first kinect.
