Well, considering I can't see PS4 getting a price cut for centuries, fair enough. You realize the Canadian $ excuse they gave for increasing the price is a load of shit, right? (It's because profit margins are razor thin as it is and DDR5 costs are skyrocketing). Also, I mean as long as you know what you're getting into. At least E3 is just around the corner (all the Sony exclusives for this year have already been announced though, iirc.) :)
The dollar is going down the toilet, I'm sure that's the reason they raised the price. It makes sense, more sense than some crazy conspiracy theory. Our dollar is only going to get lower through the rest of this year so I figured this may be my only chance to get one at $399.99. I'll probably have wanted to buy one by the end of this year/early next year.

Plus was the best buy I ever made for PS3. I was silly and passed on getting it for a few months, but all the games you get over the course of the year are going to be great. Initially the PS4 offerings aren't going to be great, but once games get a few months old and devs try to move on to selling DLC you'll get some gems.
I regretted it on PS3 but that was before they started handing out AAA games. When they did start offering big games they were ones I had already bought and played months ago. I had it for 2.5 years and regretted renewing. Being a brand new PS4 owner I figure it's a good move to get it, plus some features are locked behind Plus.

I don't disagree with that but it's not like you ever benefited when your $ was stronger..

DDR5 costs going up is also not a crazy conspiracy, it's because of cryptocurrency mining. :bouncy:

Most companies buy that stuff ahead of time or have contracts in place so that they aren't affected by stuff like that. No clue how Sony operates, but it would surprise me if they were just ordering DDR5 every month at the market price.

All true. But I have a feeling the "contract price" is going to go up during the next round of negotiations and this might be part of a pre-emptive measure to absorb some of the blow (I doubt it's a contract set in stone for the life of the PS4, otherwise price drops wouldn't happen) or just to bring in some more profit (god knows they need it). Unless Sony was producing the GPUs themselves (which they're not).

I mean, yes, anything could happen. That is true. Free GPUs could rain from the sky and then they would do an early price drop.

If only. I still need to get a better one for my desktop, I'm still stuck with integrated graphics. :whistle2:(
Integrated Graphics are pretty good nowadays. But the R7 240 has dropped as low as $55 lately if you are looking for a dirt cheap upgrade. Wish I would have waited a few months myself to order it myself. I got a 6670 for $45 in my system currently.

It's Intel Gshit so it's especially bad. I was looking at the Asus R9 270 (DirectCU2) which is ~$200, but I have yet to save up the monies (it's actually more expensive than what I paid for my rig). But I mean.. $55 ain't bad for a stopgap.

It depends on what your other specs are, but if your rig is less than the card, you might want to check to make sure you wouldn't be bottlenecked by something else, making the purchase not as good otherwise.

I bought it used from a workbuddy of my father's who's somewhat well-off, I got a pretty good deal on it (checked it out myself beforehand, took good care of it). The only thing is the guy I bought it from kept the GPU for himself for his new rig. It's amazing to finally have a computer with 8 GB of RAM (and a 64-bit OS), the highest I had beforehand was 3 GB on my college laptop. The CPU is a little dated (top of the line 5 years ago), but it works fine from what I can tell.

There's something odd about Crazy Machines 1.5 on Steam. It shows as a single entry on the store but when redeemed it shows as 2 different games. Even when Enhanced Steam ON it appears as if I still don't have it. It reminds me of Painkiller Black Edition. Do you have the same problem?
Same for me with Painkiller Black. It shows up in my library but it doesn't say I own it. I can only assume the bundled version that I got it from is a different ID than the one listed on the Steam store. Very annoying.

Quick update on Constant C keys from Groupees:

I've now gotten a reply from the SECOND request to Groupees Support that I sent in. They flat out told me they are out of keys and contacted the dev for more even though the dev claimed he sent enough keys.

Damn. It.

On my laptop I have integrated graphics and I haven't had a single problem running any games. Of course, I only run games that are at least two years old on it, but I haven't had any problems with demanding games at all.

I always get a nice, little chuckle when you crazy kids start talking about cute little integrated graphics cards. So adorable. *pets head gently*

Yeah, I ran Sleeping Dogs and other stuff fine on my old laptop IG. They really have come a long way. The AMD A series especially is great for that.

You're lucky. L4D2 looks like shit on my rig and it can't even run The Cave (because Shader 3.0 is not supported). I hate it.

I don't use it as my main gaming setup, but I am surprised the games that I can run on it. You'd be surprised how much of an improvement they have seen.

Does anyone know if the "Market Transactions sales total" through Enhanced Steam Firefox plugin is accurate? I can't imagine it's true that I've made over $80 on the market, that has to be false.

It also says I've spent more than $26 on the market, which I wouldn't have done.
I don't know if anyone answered you because there's 24+ pages since.

But, the statistics for me on Enhanced Steam concerning market transactions sales total are pretty accurate.

Prior to installing Enhanced Steam, I kept track with an excel sheet.

Can anyone confirm that getting the Sleeping Dogs collection does or doesn't add the game to my inventory to gift if I already own the base game? Or is it only Valve games that do that?

I'm torn on Arkham Origins, really tempted at $10, but thinking I should wait for the goty edition.
yeah you should if you've learned anything from the first two in the series. ;)

So that makes it something like a Core 2 Quad, right? CPU performance is still acceptable, but the integrated graphics capability is -- to put it nicely -- shit.

If the power supply on that rig is also 5 years old, you'll want to check and double-check before adding a 150-watt GPU like the R9 270. Plug your deets into a calculator, and make sure that the PSU can handle the extra load. (If the previous owner pulled a GPU out, it may be fine. Unless he skimped on the power supply years ago, and just got lucky.)

How is this game like being a doctor in a Veteran's Hospital?
Maybe it's a Veteranarian's Hospital?

Good guess! Absolutely right on the Core 2 Quad. CPU is acceptable, integrated graphics are shit. I'm impressed.

The PSU is honestly my next upgrade. The one I have now is a bit of a no-name (Delta), and it's 460W. I looked into it, and part of the reason I chose the R9 is because it would work with my current PSU. But thank you for the heads-up, I know a lot of people don't bother looking into their PSUs, so I can see why you would point that out for me. Didn't know about that neat calculator though, bookmarked.
